I would say go for Brave New World, Rock in Rio or Fear of the dark (3 of my favourite Maiden albums)

vashts80 06-30-2005 01:57 PM

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son or Piece of Mind, definitely.

AB/CD 06-30-2005 02:00 PM

killers, seventh son of a seventh son and virtual XI

the_uber_penguin 06-30-2005 03:08 PM

I'd say either Rock In Rio, or Dance Of Death...or wait until Death On The Road comes out, because that has an awesome track listing

shadow_stalker 06-30-2005 03:12 PM
or wait until Death On The Road comes out, because that has an awesome track listing
How long until that is out?

the_uber_penguin 06-30-2005 03:46 PM

August 29th. It IS worth the wait, though.

shadow_stalker 06-30-2005 03:47 PM

That is a long time, i would get albums inbetween.

I still havnt got round to buying early days (i've been putting it off since it came out)

Arucard 06-30-2005 03:55 PM

I want it, but i guess i saw the early days tour, so....

/suckers.

AB/CD 06-30-2005 05:20 PM

****ing finally ive spent the past day learning when two worlds collide on bass (i kept forgetting the break) fingers r raw :upset:

Josh 07-01-2005 09:20 AM

i haven't bothered learning anything new on bass for a while...i really should learn something else...

/wanders off to MXtabs, to find maiden tabs.

Riva 07-01-2005 09:22 AM

Get Rock In Rio for the awesome setlist, and see if you like it. Then pick the albums which feature the songs you liked the most, and go from there. :)

the only problem with that is that that IMO the Di'anno and Blaze songs sound better at Rock in Rio than on the albums, although that album is a good way to get into Maiden.

i would recommend: Powerslave, Number of the Beast, Somewhere in Time, seventh son of a seventh son and piece of mind as the 5 albums to get first.
NP: Fortunes of war.

hallowed_ironmaiden 07-01-2005 10:00 AM

In my opinion, I would get Live After Death. I think it is their best setlist and sound quality on a live album

ashman 07-01-2005 10:13 AM

Ugh...I was listening to the Dream Theaters version of NOTB (the whole album), and I came to the realisation, they suck!

crag 07-01-2005 10:34 AM

i've never heard them but aren't they supposed to be a good band

speaking of terrible versions of maiden songs, heres my attempt at Brave New World, i only learned it today mind you.

That's pretty cool, only things I'd suggest to you are:

Use your neck pickup, it sounds more meaty. If you are using your Neck Pickup, play around with your tone knobs until it sounds less tinny.

There's a tad too much reverb for my taste, it sounds too weird.

Good job with everything else, I find BNW a particularly hard song to play, especially the solos. I'm impressed. :thumb:

get rock in rio or live after death, great setlists

for studio get- x-factor, POM or seventh son

oh and titch, I REALLY need to talk to you about rehearsal. get your arse off World of warcraft and onto MSN more...

Lord of Sword 07-01-2005 06:17 PM

my favourite live album by them is the Beast Over Hammersmith. best live sound of any of their albums, bruce is much better than he was on live after death, only problem with it is that it has a setlist limited to the first 3 albums, notb hadn't been released at that point so there's not one person shouting along with the title track intro or singing along to run to the hills. and also, as far as i know you can only get it with the eddie's archives which costs around £100, if they even sell it anymore. but you do get the b-sides and bbc tapes aswell.

ashman 07-02-2005 05:42 AM

Apparently with the Beast over Hammersmith album, there were problems with the sound and the Band weren't too happy about it, that being the reason why they haven't released the full concert on DVD or video...

AB/CD 07-02-2005 12:13 PM

well its been released on the early days

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 02:14 PM

so i guess you guys have heard what nicko said in some french magazine that the new album will be released next year and that it will be concept
so what do you expect from it?
to be honest i dont expect any change in sound, maybe one or two slower songs like journeyman
what i would like to see however is if its gonna be a concept album i would like to see songs being linked together with more than just a story
i would like to see continous music
one songs continues where the previous one ended

crag 07-02-2005 02:27 PM
