Same here, I don't have a problem with theirlive sound, and some songs sound BETTER played live (For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fuel, Master of Puppets to name a few). |
but they didnt play for whom the bells toll at the toyota center which sucked
|
Anyone know what the hell that effect is that Jason used back when he did For Whom the Bells Toll? I know he has a wah, but does he runa pedal through it as well?
|
Wow, you must older than 25 then.
That saddens me greatly. I need Metallica to come back to London awfully soon :upset: (and not just at Download which I'm destined to miss. AGAIN) |
Did anyone else think St. ANger was a massive letdown? I have every other album but St. Anger blows, I'll never buy it.
|
Did anyone else think St. ANger was a massive letdown? I have every other album but St. Anger blows, I'll never buy it.
And thus it begins... We've had this discussion before, do a search. Does nobody know the answer to my previous question? |

When Cliff wrote this, not Rob, He used a "Morley Power Wah Boost" and a "Electro Harmonix Big Muff". Source: http://www.encycmet.com/equipment/cliffeq.shtml (about the 3rd result from google)
Did anyone else think St. ANger was a massive letdown? I have every other album but St. Anger blows, I'll never buy it.
Yes, please use the search. As I explained before, St. Anger was still a good cd, just not compared to their other stuff. It was probably a great nu-metal cd. Some people like it better than their old stuff. How can it really be a "letdown" when really, to an fan of "old Metallica", every album had been a letdown since the black album? To some even the black album was a letdown. It all has to do with personal taste. |
No Problem.
If you know that Rob didn't write it were you asking about a live version then?
Yeah tha's what I meant. I've seen it live recently but it wasn't played. Jason plays it on Cunning Stunts and S&M. |

im there with ya, i thought st anger was terrible. i was hoping they would return to their original sound because its obvious that a lot of people didnt like load and reload...and i know there are people that do... |

Yeah, but to be fair. The rock press hyped it up as a new master of puppets. And Quite frankly it was very disappointing. |
Kirk
Does anyone know Kirk Hammett collects stuffed animals and is a vegetarian?
|
hes so cute (jokingly said, im not a homo)
|
hes so cute (jokingly said, im not a homo)
Homo. :naughty: Kirk does seem like the sensitive type though. |
haha
well, he was a catholic school boy |

Yeah, that is true. They overhyped it waaay too much. In that aspect it was definitly a let down.
Yeah tha's what I meant. I've seen it live recently but it wasn't played. Jason plays it on Cunning Stunts and S&M.
Okay. |

Hell yes... \m/IMMORTAL\m/. Thanks for the rep. I love all of their cds, but this thread is not the time and place for that. I just got finished watching Cliff 'Em All. It made me realize that no matter how much more I like Dave Mustaine, he wasn't right for Metallica. Kirk losing his guitar to the crowd just makes me laugh, but his style is better suited for the band in my opinion. |

I couldn't agree more. Also, we wouldn't have Megadeth is Mustaine stayed. I'd rather have two good bands than one. |

Exactly. I still think it would be sweet to see Metallica and Megadeth put their egos and fueds aside and get together on stage or in a recording studio though. I think it would just own everything to see them make a great thrash album together. |
Exactly.

Sounds alright, but everyone knows mustaine and hetfield have their differences...
|
To be fair, with Dimebag's death, Mustaine publicly apologized to him, Kerry King, and Metallica for being an as.s to them.
|
eh, i guess they shouldn't care, hes an amazing guitar player, he thought he was the shi,t, i dunno maybe im on crack
|
I just got Cliff 'Em All. It's as good as I was expecting, but I have one question.
In '83, when they're playing Whiplash with Mustaine, what exactly is Dave doing? It doesn't seem like he's playing sometimes, he looks really weird slouched over, and he solos witha capo. At least I think he does, that's how it looked like to me. Anyways I concluded that Dave was being the drunkard ***-hole, in which I'm not surprised that he got kicked out. I would despise a band member of mine that wouldn't play strong throughout a concert and was just a complete ***. I'm glad he had to take responsibility into his own hands to create Megadeth. Also if Dave was to collaborate with Metallica, it would have to be Dave, James, Menza, and Robert T. I mean Kirk can just go surfing, and Lars can argue over lost money from Napster, and the cheapshot they pulled on Dave in their boring movie. Although Cliff 'Em All is everything I'd like to see for Metallica, Megadeth is just that much better. Guitar work for Rust In Peace > any Metallica album. R.I.P Cliff (the ultimate metal bassist), Metallica would of stayed true if you never passed away. |

They were all drunkards back then, Dave was just more so, and didn't get along. Yes, he did suck on that solo though, I know exactly what one you're talking about. Isn't it just as lame when the crowd takes Kirk's guitar though? 2. I'm also glad he made Megadeth because they're so fucking great. 3. Metallica wouldn't have stayed true anyway. They reached a peak, they had to go downhill. |
black album was without cliff and that was their mainstream peak...although in my opinion ...And Justice For All was their last awesome album
|

Agreed. In my opinion, "...And Justice" was a great album, but the beginning of their downfall. |
Leper Messiah and Disposable Heroes are so underrated.
Leper Messiah and Disposable Heroes are so underrated.
Agreed. Those songs are amazing |
I found the biggest disgrace ever. I was downloading the performances on the MTV Icon thing. I found the Snoop Dogg one of Sad But True. That is the worst performance ever. Ever, I mean it. Nothing gets worse than that. Metallica knew it too, you could see it in there faces. Looks like they were waiting for someone to go "Just Kidding!"
Note: Though, I think Sum41 did an awesome job with that For Whom The bell Tolls/Enter Sandman/Master of Puppets thing. I was impressed. |

I don't understand why somebody would want to cover a Metallica song if they didn't sound remotely like Metallica. How could they not know that it won't be a popular cover and they'll butcher it? Whenever I hear the words "Metallica" and "cover" together I run. Far, far away. Especially in the same sentence/paragraph as "MTV". EDIT: You're right, Sum41's wasn't as horrible as I would have thought. At least they're giving it the effort. |
