U2 have done some absolutely great songs. Unfortunately they've done a lot of mediocre songs and a fair few not-so good songs. They're well recognised for the great songs though like [i]With or Without You[/i] which is one of my personal favourites. I've just never been into them enough to buy an album and I have an Alice Deejay album

I'm listening to Lonnie's Lament by Marcus Miller. I only got the M2 album yesterday. I like muchly (Although windows media player doesn't, it wont play half the tracks)

OK, the Alice Deejay album isn't something I bought myself, it was bought for me because I said I liked one of the songs, but other than that harsh point, the point stands that they're not that amazing (IMO) but they're noted and have a reputation for their amazing songs.

I'm tempted to get the Joshua tree though

M2 is amazing, I love it so much.

The thing with U2, for me at least, is that they give me excatly what I want to hear. They are great mood generators, not through technicality, but it's just their panoramic sound that makes you feel so good.

As far as the bass in U2 though (forumrelevance++), I think "New Year's Day" is great for that. But it's a good song anyway.

Anyway, I just discovered a new technique, I think. If you want to get a fretless slide sound on a fretted bass, put your fretting hand finger underneath the string on the neck, so the string is resting on your fingernail. Its a muted slide sound, at least on my bass. It hurts like hell though, and I dont reccomend it to anyone...
