hi, im from the guitar forum and didnt want to make a new thread for this in your forum....

my friend just asked me what a good replacement bridge for his 4string fender J bass?

Spaceman Spiff 11-07-2006 09:39 PM

I could probably upload some songs to show some people the greatness of this band. I'll put together a little compilation of stuff from all their albums. :p

Radiobass81 11-07-2006 09:39 PM

Ghotoh Bridge
Badass Bridge (what everyone will say, even though they aren't anything special)
Hipshot Bridges (what I'd get)

All of these are good, none need any routing.

Look into: Gotoh, Badass, Schaller, Hipshot. You really cant go wrong.

The Badass II is a really popular replacment and retrofits fenders.

Beat :( The only down side to Schaller is that they dont retrofit.

Standard answer is a Leo Quan Badass II. I don't like them, my suggestion is an ETS bridge. Might not be a straight dropon, but they're really nice.

Also, Grizzly Hardware makes a REALLY nice bridge for, like, 12$.

thanks guys, that should do.

PaulSimonon 11-07-2006 09:44 PM

And I've only recently jumped on their bandwagon.... (I only have The Crane Wife.)

Spaceman Spiff 11-07-2006 09:51 PM

I've been pretty into them for a couple of years. A fantastic band, really.

 your taste in metal sucks!

PaulSimonon 11-07-2006 10:00 PM

The ETS or the Grizzly? I've just heard good things about the ETS bridges, and I really really like their design concepts and pricing. It's a better bridge for a great price.

I have a grizzly bridge, and I was amazed when I got it... I figured it would be pretty ****ty, but it was actually very very nice. It's pretty much a lower quality ETS knockoff. It's still a solid bridge, just not quite up to an ETS in terms of construction methods and materials.

Spaceman Spiff 11-07-2006 10:01 PM

I used to like Bodom. Then I didn't listen to them for a while, then I listened to them again and thought they were awful.

At least I saw them live back when I liked them.

Same, minus the seeing them. And I only liked them for a period of about a week.

You taste bad.

Thonk 11-07-2006 10:10 PM

Oh damn..

Those Grizzly bridges look good. Seem too good for the price...

PaulSimonon 11-07-2006 10:12 PM

Dude, they're seriously pretty nice. I bought it expecting a peice of ****, and opened it up and went... Wow!

I mean, hell for 12$ you can't touch it... I really like the way that the saddles are designed, really smart. Not their idea, but hey... it's 12$.

Foxfire 11-07-2006 10:16 PM

Black-blackula.

Thonk 11-07-2006 10:20 PM

What did you put it on?

User Name 11-07-2006 10:20 PM

I really need a new bass. One with more strings, preferably.

PaulSimonon 11-07-2006 10:21 PM

Nothing yet, but it's going on the bass I'm making.

Very very very very slowly making.

Spaceman Spiff 11-07-2006 10:22 PM

For whoever wants it, here's a selection of Decemberists songs from their four albums: Castaways & Cutouts, Her Majesty The Decemberists, Picaresque, and The Crane Wife.
