I really like The Blood Brothers, they came through twice in the past 6 months. It excited me.

But around here, very few people know who they are. And the ones that do don't like them cause they aren't "straight-up hXc."

But around here, kids think hardcore is things like Underoath, From First to Last, etc.

It's rather pathetic.
Ugh, don't get me started on Underoath.

Rancid Dan 06-04-2005 02:07 PM

Jesus, people around here don't know what anything is.

My mate said that Rise Against are emo.
Another said that Blink were punk.

I'm not that musically intellectual, as i'm not into the hardcore stuff, apart from melodic hardcore.

I've never heard Blood Brothers before.

I love The Blood Brothers, they have so energetic songs. I mean, they manage to pull of the spazzy hardcore punk thing without just playing the same chord for 5 minutes, the drummer pounding the hell out of the snare and cymbal, and the vocalist screaming as deep as he can into the mic

They are different, and they have such amazing sounding albums

Rancid Dan 06-04-2005 02:08 PM
I don't know if Jared will see this but... ACENSIONS ARE BEING ADDED ON KOL IN 5 DAYS!

I know one other person who knows who the blood brothers are, but we get to baffle people when we sit and talk about loads of bands non of my mates have heard of, we get a lot of " what the hell are you talking about" faces.

cbmartinez 06-04-2005 02:09 PM

The Blood Brothers are starting to get predictable. Like in "Peacock Skeleton..." the "things are never what they seem" ending is so predictable.
I thought you said you were getting bored of it ?
No, I was getting bored of getting the trophy I need

It's hard to explain. You can get pet like things which help out in battle and do different things called familiars. The trophy I am going for is to get a combined familiar weight of 300 pounds, and it's taking ages

Quests are things you do in different areas, which have puzzles to solve and stuff. It's really fun when you get into it, but boring once you complete them all. Soon, the last quest will be up and when you complete that you have the choice of going back and doing it all again. It opens up new quests, and you get new rewards and everything

Rancid Dan 06-04-2005 02:10 PM

It's stupid, i am working in art wth my mp3 player on and someone says 'what are you listening to' so i say TBS, Rancid, NOFX, Bad religion etc.. or whatever, so he then goes 'ROCK ON' and makes the sign, and makes everyone laugh, as though im some kind of freak....

Yeah, i went on it for a bit, but got bored...

Haha, that kinda thing happened a while ago in art. Well, not the same. At that time, Yellowcard were barely known. So these kids were talking about the band, and one of them was whistling something by Yellowcard. I turned and saw him, and he was all smart and said "So, who was that I was singing then Kendall?" I just replied "Um... Yellowcard?", and he just walked off as if we hadn't talked

I love it when I talk to my friends about bands they don't really know. I get to bring out the MP3 player and let them listen, and see their faces when they say "Oh, I don't really like them". Then, when they are in Kerrang or whatever (E.G., Armor For Sleep were just in the last one, probably because they are supporting Fightstar but whatever), they can be all "Oh, have you heard of this band?" as if we hadn't talked

It's nothing to write home about (Thank you Get Up Kids, for teaching me that line)

Everyone says they matured and whatever, but really it's just your same old DTR pop-punk

thisis sceneSUICIDE 06-04-2005 02:16 PM

Yeah, I get alot of crap from most non-scene kids cause I listen to hardcore, and really BAD pop-punk is popular around here.

And then when I go to hardcore shows, I get more crap because I don't LOOK like a hardcore kid.

It's a no-win situation. Haha.

My Chemical Romance are the worse example of what kerrang can do. There playing manchester appolo, and my and the person im going with were moaning because we know its gonna be full off little kerrang kids thinking there hxc because there seeing MCR, and i want to punch them. Last couple of times ive seen them was fun, becuase not loads of people new them, its out of hand now.

What hardcore bands do you like out of curiosity?

tsl_ste 06-04-2005 02:18 PM
What hardcore bands do you like out of curiosity?
Gah...Hmm.

Terror, Bane, Comeback Kid (most of the bigger names in hardcore) then Fall River, Bloodlined Calligraphy, The Falling Cycle, Hold Your Own, Enlow, This Was the Year to Lose Friends, My Son, My Executioner...Alot of local stuff...

Rancid Dan 06-04-2005 02:21 PM

/hasn't heard of any of them

thisis sceneSUICIDE 06-04-2005 02:21 PM

It's sad, because the Tulsa hardcore scene is amazing, but evil.

They take the tough-guy "let's harass people who don't look like us" big to a whole new level.

That's good, I was afraid that they were going to pull a SoCo and go for a more mature and hence, more boring album, especially after hearing "Bedroom Talk." I love the sound they had on SILYMI, I didn't want them to change.

Firecracker 06-04-2005 02:26 PM

I don't know hardcore. :(
Hey thread.

ATM 06-04-2005 02:28 PM

The only hardcore band I have heard is Bars, and they are awesome.

Untitled 06-04-2005 02:29 PM

cbmartinez 06-04-2005 02:29 PM

Yeah they are good.

I have one of their albums.

ATM 06-04-2005 02:32 PM

My uncle sent me "You Are My Target Audience" and I loved it, so Shizzy uploaded the album for me.

I personally found them too poppy. They have that polished sound that most DTR bands have, but the riffs are the same and the lyrics are nothing new either. I mean, considering that the original name for 2 of the songs on BOATS were "Band Sluts" and "Sex", doesn't really show their maturity no matter how gay the singer looks

cbmartinez 06-04-2005 02:34 PM

Gah, the singer is so ugly. The drummer is hot though.
