Too bad he can't sing. :p
I had a dream I got high last night, and got in a fight with a huge dude. Wtf? |
I like his voice. His lyrics are amazing, too.
-Gav |
I agree, his lyrics are hella sick. I think his voice sounds better on "War All The Time" than on "Full Collapse"
|
I saw Thursday last night. They were so sick.
I went crowd surfing (no idea how...I got thrown up) and got to the front. Geoff passed me the mic for a second and I sang along with Paris in Flames. Then later I randomly got thrown up and as I was being taken town, Geoff reached out his hand but the bouncer twirled me around so my foot slammed into Geoff's face. I chipped his tooth. I felt wicked bad but after the show he said it was totally cool and he knew it wasn't my fault. Wicked awesome guy. Sick show, too. -Gav
<3. I so hope they do a European tour this year or next. They seem like the nicest guys ever. |
I've never paid attention to their lyrics. It's usually the last thing I notice about a band. His voice irritates me though. That's the main reason I've never gotten into them. Plus, lately, I prefer poppier stuff.
****ing emos.
haha Maybe this one will bring some fun. |
Thursday is pwn.
|
Wtf is an emo?
|
Too bad he can't sing. :p
I had a dream I got high last night, and got in a fight with a huge dude. Wtf?
I like the fact that he can't sing. It makes him sound more raw and emotional. Its punk as hell. I wasn't impressed with their new album, I don't think it compares to past efforts although the lyrics pwn. The lyrics have always pwned though. Maybe after I listen to it more I'll start to like it more. Sounds like you had fun, Gav. I can't wait to see them. |
I agree, his lyrics are hella sick. I think his voice sounds better on "War All The Time" than on "Full Collapse"
True that but he had more practice on War All The Time than Full Collapse. I've been listening to WATT lately...really really good. It's growing on me more and more.
<3. I so hope they do a European tour this year or next. They seem like the nicest guys ever.
They really are. Someone screamed out "Boston fucking loves you!" and he laughed and said, "Well, we fucking love you, too." He went on to talk about how they're broke as shit (not sure if I buy that) and how he loves being on tour, etc. They have such an amazing live show. Neeshee, it was wicked fun. After like 3 years without a tour they better have had a good show. -Gav |
Thursday have so memories for me. They really got me on the path that lead to hardcore and s'hit. Sad thing is I still haven't seen them, and I've been a fan forever. Once I get my license I"ll probably drive out to Atlanta or something.
|
^ True...
I started out on NFG...then Taking Back Sunday (dude I don't care, I still think TAYF is an awesome album)...then Thursday...etc. etc. Here I am. -Gav |
My progression was pretty quick. I went from Thursday to Saetia in about a year and here I am.
|
I discovered this site and downloaded songs by Saetia, Circle Takes the Square, Orchid, I Hate Myself, and City of Caterpillar. First song I ever heard that can be called emo was One Dying Wish by Saetia, still my favorite song by them.
|
I started out with From Autumn To Ashes.
|
The first "emo" band I got into was Saetia about a year ago...since then it was Saetia, Hot Cross, and CTTS for a good long while before I started to lurk around in here. Now I know my stuff.
-Gav |
The first for me were The Assistant, Pg. 99, and As The Sun Sets. I got really into As The Sun Sets, then found out they broke up a while ago and became very upset. :(
|
What did you guys listen to before emo? Before I listened to emo I primarily listened to death metal/grindcore. Pretty crazy transition from Nile to The Red Scare.
|
Mainly just pop-punk like NFG, Blink 182, Taking Back Sunday, etc. I was like 13. I got into emo around 15/16.
NEVER Simple Plan or Good Charlotte, though...I was too good for that stuff. The Early November = <3 I still love them. -Gav |
Punk, Pop-Punk, Metalcore, a lot of Indie.
|
Particular bands?
|
FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES
RAKE YOUR NAILS ACROSS MY SKIN JUG JUG WEEEEE JUG JUG Jk I never liked them lol -Gav |

Punk and hardcore-punk. Experiments into emo made me appreciate modern hardcore more, it was odd. |
i was big into black and death metal, but I've always been a pop-punk fan, and liked a few bands I thought were emo at the time. Then I came to this thread, and got schooled. First band I was majorly into was CTTS.
|
Particular bands?
Bright Eyes, Brand New, Coheed, The Bled, Alexisonfire, American Analog Set, Dead Kennedys, The Smiths, Taking Back Sunday, The Strokes, Atom And His Package, Thrice, Death Cab For Cutie, Brazil, and others. Basically all the bands that I listed that are big now, I listened to them when they weren't big and same goes for the bands that are alike to them. |
I started with like indie stuff, then I went through a metal phase, then a grindcore phase, and than an electronica phase, then an emo phase, then a indie phase again.

Minus the Bear rules.
-Gav |
Me seeing Thursday two nights in a row with mewithoutYou, Circle Takes The Square, The Blood Brothers in a sold out venue that holds about 500 > you
|
I saw Thurday last night with MeWithoutYou and Minus the Bear...and Geoff and I totally sang along in Paris in Flames...and I chipped Geoff's tooth.
I guess you win. -Gav |
I saw Bear Vs. Shark though so I win.
|
I don't like them...:(
-Gav |
Aw really?
I can understand that someone wouldn't like them, but they put on a really amazing show. He humped this thing and hung upside down on it and then at the end of the set he go onto this thing near the roof where people film from and jumped into the crowd. Probably a 15 foot fall. |
Hahaha, sick.
Yeah, I just sorta find them boring. I mean, they're good and all. I just can't get into them, if that makes any sense it all. It happens with me and a lot of bands. Bad Brains, for example. -Gav |
Yeah agreed on Bad Brains. I like them more than I used to, but the vocals really bother me. Maybe I'll grow into them though, I used to feel the same way about Gorilla Biscuits and now they're one of my favorite bands.
|
I love them...hey, I hear they're having a reunion tour. Any idea on that?
I hope they do. That would be sick. -Gav |
Minus the Bear rules.
-Gav
Yes. |
It's confirmed as far as I know. August I think.
|
Awesome. I'm looking forward to it.
Damien: You know it. They're really good live, too. Their guitarist (not the singer guitarist, just the guitarist) has like 20 pedals on stage. -Gav |
Hey Gav, some of my friends were at that show. At the Axis right?
|
Yep...it was sick.
Ask if they remember Geoff chipping his tooth. That was me, haha. -Gav |
