Yeah, that was pretty much the moment when Megadeth became better than Metallica would ever be, cuase they're fuelled by Dave, and his emotions, and Metallica are fuelled by Lars' greed and wankery
And Dave wrote almost all the solos and some riffs for "kill'em all" : metallica's best album

Aw3someman 08-09-2006 01:30 PM

Well he wrote some of the solos for Kill 'Em All. And many of the riffs for The Four Horsemen. But Kill 'Em All is nowhere near Metallica's best album. MoP or RtL are in that position.

Megadeth I think were always thrashier and way cooler than Metallica. Especially Dave, which makes them, in my eyes, better.

Jev 08-09-2006 05:32 PM

He wrote all but 2 solos :p

I actually think either of the demoes (Power Metal, or No Life 'Til Leather), are better then Kill 'em All. They're both sped up versions of Kill 'em All, with Mustaine on Lead guitar.

Of course, the quality is extremely poor (It's even worse then mine when I set up a microphone in my shed! :p), and the songs aren't as complete as they are on Kill 'em All (And they're not all there), but it's just some of the little subtleties in the songs. I always thought Kirk pwned the Jump In The Fire solo, then I heard Mustaine's and realized why...

Nepenthe 08-09-2006 07:23 PM

Plus, Power Metal has the coolest cover art of any Metallica album (save perhaps MoP).

Mikesn 08-09-2006 08:13 PM
I actually think No Life 'Til Leather is better then Kill 'em All.
I agree, actually.

Morfiend 08-09-2006 10:22 PM

Megadeth is great and I have a feeling their latest will be the best album since Countdown (RIP is the best though).

I really like Ride :smoke:

So, **** bands, except Megadeth for the Aus leg of Gigantour, pointless now.
Too long have Australian Metal fans waited for a touring Metal Festival…
Too long have they felt envious of U.S & European headbangers…
Too much like Yoda does this press release sound…

Enter GIGANTOUR, the fast and furious traveling festival that was hailed last year by Revolver magazine as "the mother of all shred festivals" will kick off its first trip to Australia in October.

The brainchild of MEGADETH frontman DAVE MUSTAINE, GIGANTOUR will savage its way down the East Coast in October. MEGADETH will make their triumphant return on a bill that includes fellow heavy-hitters Soulfly, Arch Enemy, Caliban and more.

"This is the concert that I, as a heavy metal music fan, would want to see," says MUSTAINE who handpicks the acts personally. "It is going to be something to look forward to each year, to see what kind of tremendous talent we can assemble, for GIGANTOUR festivals in the years to come."

Having not being to Australia since their 2002 sold out tour, Soulfly will be making their presence felt on GIGANTOUR with their fierce, unrelenting, heavy and foreboding sounds. As expected of Max Cavalera, it is metal for the daring. Never safe and always engaging,

Metal titans ARCH ENEMY - whose dynamic cocktail of melody and aggression has earned them massive critical acclaim, a rabid worldwide fan base and a slot on this summer’s GIGANTOUR in the US. Arch Enemy gathered an army of fans on their 2005 tour and are set to light a fire under the *** of metal fans that missed them last time.

Rounding off GIGANTOUR is German’s finest Metalcore exponents, Caliban. Named after the wild, deformed slave in Shakespeare's “The Tempest”, Caliban are currently at their most creative ever. Brutal guitar staccato-salvos, complex alternate bombastic and clear walls of guitar, beautiful harmonies that consistently flair up and incredible rhythm, combined with this one of the most dynamic live shows going around that will knock the socks off every metal-core fan.

Make no mistake…this is the Metal event of the year…this is GIGANTOUR.

indeed

eug008 08-10-2006 04:40 AM

This CANNOT be 18+, the only metal gigs in Brisbane which are under 18 are always the shitty metalcore gigs which all the goths and slipknot kids go to.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-10-2006 04:45 AM

I don't think I'll go.

I don't like any of the other bands.

GOD AMEN.

im 16 and this would be the first and best gig i would go to.

I thought you liked Overkill?

EDIT: G2 Thread, Now for G2AUS details

Apocalyptic Raids 08-10-2006 08:44 AM

Overkill aren't playing the Australian one, are they?
Overkill aren't playing the Australian one, are they?
No, atm it's only Deth, Arch Enemy, Soulfly and Caliban. Hopefully they will have some good local acts or i'd just be goin for deth

pate 08-10-2006 11:57 PM

I believe it said more acts will be announced, but that could just be local bands or something.

eug008 08-11-2006 02:07 AM

Noice we have an under 18 G2

pate 08-11-2006 02:09 AM
Noice we have an under 18 G2
Sweet. 18+ shows are lame, even though I'm 19 so I have no personal stake in the matter.

eug008 08-11-2006 02:13 AM

Hopefully it will be cheaper than the US shows cause they got heaps more bands, This would pretty much be a Megadeth show for me tho

Apocalyptic Raids 08-11-2006 02:22 AM
Are you insane?
I've already seen Megadeth, and I probably won't be able to afford it anyway.

and Megadeth won't get as much set time, I think.

eug008 08-11-2006 02:29 AM

I'm sure they will get a full set as their headlining

E sharp 08-11-2006 02:37 AM

tix on sale on the 22nd of aug.. cant wait. any idea on the cost?

Apocalyptic Raids 08-11-2006 02:47 AM
I'm sure they will get a full set as their headlining
I don't think they will play for as long as they did last year. Last year there was only one support band who played for about 20 mins. Megadeth played for about 2 hours.

eug008 08-11-2006 08:20 AM

I hope they get a full set anyhows, I am expecting the tix to be about $80 or so, how much was the previous tour?

Apocalyptic Raids 08-11-2006 08:21 AM

The previous tour was around $65.

Jev 08-11-2006 03:15 PM

That's pretty cheap.

Aw3someman 08-11-2006 03:43 PM
tix on sale on the 22nd of aug.. cant wait. any idea on the cost?
$35 where I live. I'm not going though. All I would go for is Megadeth and Into Eternity. I'll wait till next year. I'm hoping for a more prog/thrash/power metal oriented Gigantour. And I absolutely HATE arch enemy.

Jev 08-11-2006 03:46 PM

I'd still go if it I was just going for those two.
I could mess about with friends during other bands, like I did at Download.

Aw3someman 08-11-2006 03:48 PM

How was Download btw?

Megadeth is 90 minutes and Into Eternity is 15 min. I'm broke and need money for gas and 5 cd's in the near future. I'm gonna have to pass because that just isn't worth my time and mostly money.

Jev 08-11-2006 04:00 PM

I didn't go this year, I went in 2005.

eug008 08-12-2006 12:53 AM

Next years lineup won't have Deth, I think.

pate 08-12-2006 01:26 AM

That wouldn't surprise me too much.

Jev 08-12-2006 09:48 AM

How comes?

Aw3someman 08-12-2006 12:17 PM
Next years lineup won't have Deth, I think.
What? Why not? That would surprise me... Dave doesn't have any ideas of retiring yet. Well I'm not sure that they're touring for United Abominations. If they do, then I wouldn't expect them to be on Gigantour next year. I'd just catch them on their UA tour.

RustedPieces 08-12-2006 01:34 PM

I paid $45 Canadian for floors last year. I think they'll do Gigantour next year for sure.

eug008 08-12-2006 09:42 PM

I'm pretty sure Dave said that it might be the last Gigantour that Megadeth plays at this year, their not spliting up or anything tho

Huber 08-12-2006 10:03 PM

I think Megadeth will play it again. They'll still be touring in support of United Abominations when it comes around again so they would I think.

RustedPieces 08-12-2006 10:20 PM
I think Megadeth will play it again. They'll still be touring in support of United Abominations when it comes around again so they would I think.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking.

PECOAE 08-13-2006 12:15 AM

I definitely wanna see them live, but the only album I know (and LOVE) from Megadeth is Rust In Peace...

Help?
