Is anyone a fan of "The Wall" movie?

It's pretty deep, but's it's slowly becoming my favorite movie.

Kingofdudes 09-20-2005 08:54 PM

Point me at the Sky was the last single released before PF(early PF) decided to be an album band

Overall, I think its overly dark, but some scenes are great. The one were Pink is tripping to the Comfortably Numb outro is simply amazing.
I know a guy that was my older sister's friend (he's in college now), and I saw him at Ruby Tuesday one time, and he had one of those awesome tie-dye WYWH shirts on...
My friend has one of those.

Awesome movie. Pretty freaky, but the whole thing is just awesome. There's a flea market like 5 minutes away from me, I wonder if they have some Floyd bootlegs like the one Livewired got. I'll have to check it out.

thickasabrick 09-21-2005 01:34 PM
Whats it look like?
Umm very good question....I don't exactly remember. It's got several different pictures on it, and they are all faded and there are light colours over everything. I'm pretty sure it shows the cover of Meddle, and it shows the band, I'll need to see it again before I can explain it in further detail.

Maybe it the same one I have?

Robo, you should go I bought That Darkside bootleg and that rarities album there. One of them says on the disc that there are only 500 copies made. Thats pretty cool I think.

You guys should hear "Biding My Time" its puts a different perspective on Floyd like the song "Seamus" and kinda "San Tropez".

That's awesome. Although the flea market near me always seemed like just crap, I haven't been in a really, really, long time (like 5 years). And I've never looked out for cds there. There could be some good stuff.

Broken Arrow 09-21-2005 02:03 PM

Thats what I thought too, until I went.

Cool, I hope you find something. I'd never even heard of that rarities CD.

DeusExMachina 09-21-2005 05:00 PM

There are no flea markets here in suburbia. It sucks. There was this awesome record store in Seattle with great bootlegs. Maybe there'll be something in DC...

Yeah I really love the movie.

I love the way Roger and David made the lyrics match the complete storyline. "Comfatably Numb" and "Hey You" are prime examples. Although my favorite song of 'The Wall' might be "Nobody Home" or "In the Flesh?"

Hey You wasn't in the movie. I guess you're talking about the separate video for it though, which was awesom. Would have been cooler if it was in the actual movie though. Highlights of the movie for me were Mother, One of My Turns, Is There Anybody Out There, and Comfortably Numb. The lyrics just match the scene so perfectly in those parts.

Also, the part where the teacher reads the lyrics of Money is awesome.

Riva 09-21-2005 08:24 PM

The best part is the animation for Goodbye Blue Sky and the whole In The Flesh/Run Like Hell/Waiting For The Worms/The Trial sequence.

Cal_on_drums 09-22-2005 11:21 AM

Recently my girlfriend got me into Pink Floyd and they are amazing! So diverse and creative.
I recently got DSotM which is just incredible and bought The Wall earlier on today for £10 and so far so good!

Sam 09-22-2005 12:55 PM

I'm actually not a huge fan of the Wall (the movie). It's cool and all, but it drags at times.

Live at Pompeii is the **** though.

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 01:48 PM

I have the same favourite part as Riva.

Good to see another Floyd fan. I'd check out Animals or Wish You Were Here next.

Yeah Wish You Were Here is definitly the one I'm getting next. All the songs are classic and the title track reminds me of my girlfriend.

Whale and Wasp 09-22-2005 02:19 PM

i love wish you were here album, but soycd and welcome to the machine give me bad memories :upset: i hope i can change that

Only bad thing of relating music to someone, is when you break up with them, or go through a rough time, you will hate the music.

We all fall victim to this though..

Yup. Isnt it great.

Wish you were here is near my favorite album, but i still dont think anything could touch the perfection of dsotm. Oh god im a fanboy again...

wow that is creepy!!!

i atually dont think dsotm is their best. i like meddle and patgod better.

DeusExMachina 09-22-2005 02:48 PM

Meddle is great music, but I don't think it has the flow or impact th at DSOTM has.

clairvoyant 09-22-2005 02:52 PM

I like Wish You Were Here and Animals the most. Dark Side of the Moon is pretty overrated in my opinion.

robo2448 09-22-2005 03:03 PM

WYWH > Animals = Pulse. That's my top 3, and I don't really feel like listing more because then the choices get harder.

Collis 09-22-2005 03:26 PM

What about Relics? some really great stuff on this album (Im listening to it now actually ...), a lot of ther stuff was not written by Syd but the music does have a big pyschedelic feel to it ....

Distant Echoes 09-22-2005 03:32 PM

Relics is sort of a greatest hits of syd, and a few extra unreleased tracks. Its full of good songs, but Id rather listen to PATGOD, though Relics is easier on the ear imo.

I feel like Meddle is just some acoustic/folk ballads (i dont know what you all consider them) featuring One of these days and Echoes. I like the songs, but Looking at it like that tends to drive me away from listening to it more often.

robo2448 09-22-2005 03:34 PM

The songs on Relics are great. But because it's kind of a compilation, it doesn't flow like most Floyd albums do.

moaner 09-22-2005 03:37 PM

I've never seen the wall film, but i'm not a big fan of the album so i doubt it'd like it.
