In reply to Jorge from a while back:
If you never have played a Fender 5, how do you know it's B is "notorious"? It is no worse then most Ibanez basses, and if you can't afford a Winters custom, you probably can't afford a Warwick, so a pretty tight B is out of the questin anyway.
The very fact that its notorious means I don't have to have played it to have heard of its notoriety... I happen to like my Ibanez very much, and the comparative reviews of my bass and the Fender 5s brings mine out on top in the B string tightness stakes still... Not being able to afford a Winters or Warwick is irrelevant. I can't afford anything at the moment. And price doesn't equate to tightness of B string...

fatbandit 05-15-2005 01:28 PM

I was there and didn't rep whore at all. Seeing as it was all in vain, I didn't lose out too much ;)

fatbandit 05-15-2005 01:44 PM

I think our lead guitarist just quit before we even started :(

fatbandit 05-15-2005 01:45 PM

I admit, I rep whored too.. Then as soon as I got stars i was "yey!!" for 2 minutes... then "meh..."

PaulSimonon 05-15-2005 01:47 PM

I still like the dots we had at first. They were my friends.

lemoley 05-15-2005 01:48 PM

My SX had great reviews... Hurray.

And I find there is not much difference in the low B's (between the two brands discussed).

Oh well...

FlamingCouch 05-15-2005 01:55 PM

GUYS!

Allow me to ask an incredibly stupid question, but is there any way to work the truss rod on a Precision bass without taking the neck or pickguard off? I've got the school's bass here but she's soundin' like crap right up till about the 4th fret, and I've a hunch it's the neck. Any assistance = appriciated + secks. :p

FatBandit: what happened? *guitarist thing*

fatbandit 05-15-2005 01:58 PM

The dots were ace, alas, they left...

And he was moving here from Grimsby, and he's here now. I just hit him up about jamming on MSN and he said 'I'm kinda in a band now...'

Not best pleased. Now its just me and a rhythm player. We still need a lead player, a drummer and singer :upset:

lemoley 05-15-2005 01:59 PM

oh i see too bad man sorry to hear it, im sure you will find one dont worry

fatbandit 05-15-2005 02:02 PM

Yeah, a bit of a kick in the teeth though.

ridethelightning 05-15-2005 02:07 PM

can you run a signle cab in bridge?

PaulSimonon 05-15-2005 02:12 PM

Anyone have good ideas for a new purchase for me? (keep it under 1,000$)

lemoley 05-15-2005 02:14 PM

PaulSimonon 05-15-2005 02:16 PM

What bass would that be?

fatbandit 05-15-2005 02:19 PM

Psh, just go looking second hand for something that catches your fancy.

go to your local shop and say "I have $1000 bucks and I want to spend it" and play everything they have there from pedals, to amps, to basses and look into non bass stuff like PA's and whatever else catches your fancy

PaulSimonon 05-15-2005 02:23 PM

Jorge, you've showed me that before...

/still wants it but doesn't need it

I've checked out every bit of gear within reasonable driving distance!

lemoley 05-15-2005 02:28 PM

a tanglewood reble 4k i think i could let it go for $999 lol

neatobassman 05-15-2005 02:29 PM
I've checked out every bit of gear within reasonable driving distance!
I see, well then I don't know what to say.

PaulSimonon 05-15-2005 02:31 PM

I don't know what to buy! I guess I shall save until I can afford a decent custom.

lemoley 05-15-2005 02:35 PM

wait, do you actualy NEED to buy new gear?

PaulSimonon 05-15-2005 02:38 PM

Of course not! But I have nothing else to buy, and I might as well get something that I'll use. Basically, I'm saying I'd rather have my 125$ bass than that...

lemoley 05-15-2005 02:41 PM

well if you have nothing else to buy dont buy something you dont need and you aint gonna use thats just a waste of money, and you would rather have your bass instead of what?

PaulSimonon 05-15-2005 02:44 PM

The P Deluxe Jorge posted a link to.

Tryxx 05-15-2005 02:49 PM
