Yeah... you should deffinately leak it onto BearShare for me :)
Doesn't the video come with tab too?

AA-12 01-03-2006 08:55 AM

MRDuCran, I will love you forever if you could post the tabs for the main riff in Living Dead Beat. The one after the buildup <3

PsychoticFlubber 01-03-2006 09:00 AM

What he said :)

MRDuCran 01-03-2006 09:03 AM

I can't put it on Bearshare cause I don't have a DVD reader.
Yes, the tabs come with it.
Tbh, I nearly cryed watching it. He's realy sloppy on some demos, example Towards Dead End. I could honestly play it cleaner than he does on there...
He plays Downfall differently on there, the verse of Living Dead Beat sounds weird.
AYDY sounds like the record though.
Lake Bodom is tabbed a way I've never seen before but is actually really easy.
The way he plays In Your Face is the way I transcribed it a few months back, every other tab on the net is WRONG. :D
The Hate Me single solo I don't have yet.
Overall it's OK but he could do much better.

Actually, I am highly curious about Downfall... I have tried it for myself but all tabs are wrong. If you could tab that, than it would be greatly appreciated for it being one of my favorite songs...

MRDuCran 01-03-2006 09:09 AM

When I say differently, I mean odd sounding. He uses the same guitar for the whole thing and it's in CGCFAD and he goes down to the 8th fret on the low E string and A string, it doesn't quite sound right and is really awkward to play.

I think the net tabs are more correct....I think...

That sucks...

But if you have a scanner you should scan some pages with tabs on it for all of us. We would all love you to the pit of our CoB obsessed hearts...

PsychoticFlubber 01-03-2006 09:18 AM

Oh by the way, it probably sounds wrong because he is playing it correctly, just on the wrong tunning for itl

King_Of_Terrors 01-03-2006 09:46 AM

What part in Downfall are you discussing?

PsychoticFlubber 01-03-2006 09:52 AM
What part in Downfall are you discussing?
The intro guitar riff. 0:04 - 0:07...

MRDuCran 01-03-2006 10:35 AM

You're right about it being correct but in the wrong tuning, I modified a guitar pro file and it's perfect. :D

I didn't look like he was playing it this was on the video of Downfall live at Tuska 2003. Ah nevermind.

King_Of_Terrors 01-03-2006 10:41 AM

Maybe I'll try to figure that out. If the tabs are wrong then I can usually get something by ear.

PsychoticFlubber 01-03-2006 11:21 AM

Well, that's good to know. Because, I believe that is a song he should have showed everyone a long time ago. That riff is awsome. So, if you ever do get to scan anything or tab something out yourself, I would love you forever (not in a gay way) if you sent it to "Powderburn1214@aol.com". :)

IheartSP 01-03-2006 12:28 PM

Usually Guitar Pro tabs are at the least 80% correct, and with a basis that large it's pretty easy to correct it by ear if you know the song, for Downfall it went like 0 to 7 on the A string when it's really just 0 then 0 again, pretty easy to fix.

blue3 01-03-2006 12:46 PM

Yeah, Guitar Pro tabs are good. That and powertabs are the ones I use most.

MRDuCran 01-03-2006 12:47 PM

ohshi

i just tryed to play along with alexi with my guitar in drop c

but

he plays in drop d (dadgbe)

King_Of_Terrors 01-03-2006 12:55 PM

I need to figure how to write stuff in Guitar Pro...

I wrote one of my bands songs on Powertab last night :D

IheartSP 01-03-2006 12:57 PM

Guitar Pro is 10x easier than Powertab if you get the hang of it. Powertab just infuriates me, you can't use the scale option on the fretboard, the tracks all meld together, the switches are terribly confusing.

King_Of_Terrors 01-03-2006 12:58 PM

Why don't you tell me how to work it then?

Shattered_Future 01-03-2006 01:02 PM

I hate Powertabs. It wouldn't let me click anything at my friend's house.

All the buttons were in weird places too...I kept pressing the wrong ones.

King_Of_Terrors 01-03-2006 01:06 PM

So you know how to work Guitar Pro?

Shattered_Future 01-03-2006 01:08 PM

Nope. Neither of those programs work on Mac. :)

See, all this MIDI **** is cheating, I think...you learn a lot better from getting a normal tab, sitting down with the song, and learning it by ear with the tabs to help you out.

King_Of_Terrors 01-03-2006 01:09 PM

But Guitar Pro sounds cooler because it has drums and everything, plus you can take out the guitar parts and substitute them with your playing

IheartSP 01-03-2006 01:12 PM

Plus with GP5 you get the whole real sound engine thing going to use it for backing tracks and such. The fretboard and keyboad are also lifesavers.

Shattered_Future 01-03-2006 01:13 PM

Whoop de frickin doo...

You know what else has backing tracks? The actual song. You cheaters.

IheartSP 01-03-2006 01:15 PM

The real song isn't a backing track, it's already got all the parts in it...

If it was cheating we'd all be amazingly famous guitar players, not sitting in our basement still practicing.

Toaster 01-03-2006 01:15 PM

I agree with this. If you really have trouble learning songs by ear, try transcribing the entire song, then check your transcription with an online one (assuming the online one is correct). Your ear will improve, as will your understanding of modern songwriting.

IheartSP 01-03-2006 01:17 PM

I don't see how GP affects your ear, if anything it makes it better. I'm able to tab entire songs, and it's thanks to guitar pro for that becuase after using it for so long I started to see a connection between my ear and the fretboard.

Shattered_Future 01-03-2006 01:20 PM
The real song isn't a backing track, it's already got all the parts in it...
Exactly. The way that the actual band plays it, not somebody's interpretation. It works out better that way.

I have troubles figuring out songs by ear, so I use a normal tab. It works out better, you, the tab, and the actual song. It shows you if it's correct or not.

With a Powertab or a GP tab, you play along with the actual tab. There's no way to tell if the tab is correct or not unless you check the actual song, which, if you do anyway, there's no reason to use the tab.

IheartSP 01-03-2006 01:28 PM

I barely ever learn a song off a tab exactly the way they put it, more likely than not its a song I know in my head by heart and I correct the mistakes myself, like I mentioned earlier with the downfall tab. It's not like I'm a robot playing exactly what the tab tells me to.

King_Of_Terrors 01-03-2006 01:53 PM

Lots of GP tabs are inaccurate. I read them and play with them, then listen to the song and see if anything is wrong.

MRDuCran 01-03-2006 01:55 PM

I use GP for writing mostly, and you can hear how your compositions sound with as many guitars as you want, keyz, drums so you get a full band sound.

King_Of_Terrors 01-03-2006 01:56 PM

Yeah, that is true there.

Standard D actually. It's always D or drop C.

MRDuCran 01-03-2006 03:25 PM

No, that's why I put that face, because he plays in Drop D.

He's used C# standard before too.

Shadows 01-03-2006 03:38 PM
No, that's why I put that face, because he plays in Drop D.

What songs? I thought Alexi always used D standard or drop C.

MRDuCran 01-03-2006 03:41 PM

Everything off Something Wild I think.

Shadows 01-03-2006 03:43 PM
Everything off Something Wild I think.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. He played in Db/C# back then.

Shattered_Future 01-03-2006 03:52 PM

Db standard = coolest tuning ever.

Dark Tranquillity tuning. \m/
