superpeer 11-26-2005 08:03 AM

TheDMV 11-26-2005 11:58 AM

Is there any way that a mod could merge the asl thread with the community thread after it dies out. If we could at least get the first post of each thread toogether it would be great, just so everybody knows who everyone is.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-26-2005 12:20 PM

I don't think a merge would work that well, because merging confuses people. I think a mod could take all of the info from king of terror's thread, (the names, a/s/l stuff) and post it in the first post of the Sandwich Bar. That would be kind of cool, I think. Just a thought. Perhaps links to the R&M map and the photo album could go there too.

Stormrider 11-26-2005 12:36 PM

Or take the info and maybe it could be stickied to the front page ?
Is that a good idea ?

Bad thread, and Joe should know better that "your mom" jokes are only acceptable in the community thread. :p

What is this guy thinking?

Please just ban the guy if you look at all his recent posts and threads you'll see he is getting kicks out of unclever spam.

This guy is just being such an idiot, ever since he was flamed in the death metal thread for saying he didn't like Venom he's been acting stupid.

Erm...I'm not sure wheather someone has already said this but..Do you have a New Posts? It would be eaiser to see what all the posts are.

3074326 11-27-2005 01:02 AM

Up at the top you'll see a drop-down menu called "Quick Links."

Click that and then "Today's Posts" might be what you're looking for.

Banned threadstarter for 2 days.

Banned all other serious posters for 1 day, because I'm feeling nostalgic for the old days.

We'll just shove all the information into the next community thread, I think.

I'm getting kind of tired with all the "personal info threads" personally...

When is the new community thread coming?
When is the new community thread coming?
When it gets to 60,000 posts me thinks.
When it gets to 60,000 posts me thinks.
Why ? Is there like a limit to how many posts a thread could have ?

the2stranger 11-27-2005 11:55 AM
Why ? Is there like a limit to how many posts a thread could have ?
no, but the thread would just be slow like hell, and the search feature stops working at a certain post count.

It also can get to such a large number of posts that it actually starts to slow MX down. I think it did this with the first guitar community thread.

lost_profits 11-27-2005 10:30 PM

Superpeer,
A question. Does anyone usually do a 'Best Of 2005' list in R&M?
Like is there a certain member who annually does a best of list?
I'm talking:

Favourite album
Favourite song
Favourite solo
Shock of 2005
Biggest letdown in 2005

etc.
I'm asking you mainly so there isn't 20 of the same threads.

MBS 11-27-2005 11:01 PM

Generally there is usually a Best of 2005 thread, but that's about it.

How do, moderator crew. Hey, that rhymed!

Would it be ok for me to start up a King Diamond thread to try and get some conversation about Mercyful Fate/King Diamond going on?

Make sure to put a link to Steerpike's write-ups for both of them. He made them both around Christmas time.

ThrashMaster27 11-28-2005 02:00 AM
Make sure to put a link to Steerpike's write-ups for both of them. He made them both around Christmas time.
I was planning on doing the exact thing. That's why I was originally asking if I should make a thread on KD, as Steerpike did write ups on both his bands.

Six Foot Revolver 11-28-2005 02:08 AM

I meant Hallowe'en not Christmas :upset:. Anyway, I really don't see why you would need to ask if you can make a thread or not.

It's to get my postcount up ;)

Just joking. I was asking because I didn't know whether or not the mods would consider it pointless of me to make a thread that's already been done, albeit in a different sort of sense. I'm just that nice you see.

we have this:

which holds quite a lot of results of numerous comps and polls we've had this year :)

3074326 11-28-2005 10:15 AM

I wouldn't mind seeing one of those "Best of 2005" threads, but not until the end of the year. :p

EDIT: Nevermind, apparantly it's already been made. We still have over a month left!

Josh 11-28-2005 01:23 PM

to whichever mod reads this first:
quite a long time ago, i started a "songs you want played at your funeral" thread, it kind-of turned into a list thread but could i do it again if posters have to explain why they want songs, rather than just listing them? i reckon it would provoke decent discussion about emotional songs.

Bartender 11-28-2005 01:30 PM

I've no objection to that, I think. See if anyone else has. I've thought about that kind of thing over the last few days anyway, actually.

Josh 11-28-2005 01:34 PM

yeh, i'd put a thing in the first post saying people spamming will be reported / banned etc, and if it doesn't work you can close it then.
thanks.
