his only downside was the fact he was the king of over exaggeration (and still is). every album he liked was the best album ever made

Glitterati 06-17-2009 02:23 PM

I think some of us exaggerate it for comic effect but he def. had a screw loose. I used to think he was some sort of serious aryan skinhead but then found out he was kidding which is still kind of ****ed up.
his only downside was the fact he was the king of over exaggeration (and still is). every album he liked was the best album ever made
maybe he just had really, really good taste.

Nostalgia 06-17-2009 02:26 PM

No, he wasn't kidding. When he was into nazism he was really depressed, and I'm assuming he just started following it because he wanted an excuse to hate and feel superior. I talk to him about it sometimes and that's usually the reasoning he gives me.

He's a really nice guy, just a little messed up. But, then again, I think we all are!

RetiredAt21 06-17-2009 02:46 PM

I'm a lot less messed up than I used to be just a year ago.

RetiredAt21 06-17-2009 02:53 PM

lol Stormfront

Glitterati 06-17-2009 02:55 PM

I'm messed up but I'm clinically diagnosed messed-up. Asperger's syndrome. But I'm just starting to get my life together.
What's that?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspergers

Mild form of autism I was diagnosed with when I was fourteen. With autism there's high-functioning (where you can be somewhat normal i.e. have a job, interact with people) and low-functioning (see Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man), and Asperger's is on the high-functioning scale, which makes me lucky.

If any of you watch the show My Name Is Earl, there's an episode in Season 3 where Earl (Jason Lee) is in prison and Randy (Ethan Suplee) makes a quilt and says "The doctors said I'm borderline artistic, but I think I'm all the way artistic!" and my friend says that reminds her of me.

YDload (Alt/Indie mod) says that Asperger's is made up LOL

masscows 06-17-2009 03:04 PM

hey I have AS too h5

My life is more together than it was a year or even 6 months ago but I still contemplate suicide every day etc

And yeah lots of people think it isn't real and just an excuse for people who are socially incompetent, but it's not like a lack of social skills is the only symptom so I don't know where those ideas come from...

that's totally not cool life is good man!

I mean, I guess I contemplate suicide every once in a while too, but never to the point of seriously considering going through with it (except for like 4 years ago but w/e)

Tyler 06-17-2009 03:07 PM

Asperger's is notoriously overdiagnosed so IDK, you guys don't seem as severe as someone like Chris. Not necessarily made up, but it's becoming like ADD the way they're diagnosing it these days.

Moon Flavor 06-17-2009 03:09 PM

I think they can do actual tests for it though, can't they?

Cuz it's like a genetic thing, not just a chemical imbalance

RetiredAt21 06-17-2009 03:09 PM

Who's Chris?

masscows 06-17-2009 03:10 PM

The problem is that the DSM-IV criteria for it is horribly vague. A stubborn kid with a bad upbringing and attitude problems could pass off as having AS when it just isn't the case.

I'm clinically diagnosed and got a 35 on the autism quotient test so I'm pretty confident that I have it.

Hah, my parents used to think I had ADD/ADHD when I was younger and tried to put me on Ritalin and I was like "Y'ALL NIGGAZ BE TRIPPING" and refused to take it. Once I got diagnosed as an Aspy things actually got a lot clearer, strangely enough @_@

edit - lol at wikipedia entry on asperger's under "restricted and repetitive interests and behavior"
individuals with AS may collect volumes of detailed information on a relatively narrow topic such as dinosaurs, trains or deep fat fryers
I like how randomly they pick those three topics.

Jaundice 06-17-2009 03:14 PM

my parents put me on stratera because the doctor said I couldn't be trusted to not abuse Ritalin or Adderall :(

Moon Flavor 06-17-2009 03:14 PM

shoulda taken the ritalin and said it didn't work and then gotten adderall and stuck with that tbh

I have no idea what that means. How does the scale work?

masscows 06-17-2009 04:11 PM

You say whether you agree or disagree with 50 statements regarding your personal behavior, habits, etc and you get 1 point if you agree with something characteristic of someone with autism and 1 point if you disagree with something characteristic of being "normal"

32+ pretty much means you're autistic in some way, the average person's score is like 16 or something

Deth 06-17-2009 04:12 PM

sounds like a sweet facebook quiz

Jaundice 06-17-2009 04:13 PM
