ok lets have a contest. Lets see who can find me a nice sweater. I dont care if its a hoodie or the zippy kind as long as it looks good. Just to give you an idea i have had this sweater for 4 years but it had a hole in it for a while and my mommy wont let me wear it anymore

rockindrummer 09-08-2005 09:19 PM

^ That is pretty freaking weird man. Is that your dog?

Double Bass Jim 09-08-2005 09:34 PM

Haha thats a nice lookin dog.

Arcturus 09-08-2005 09:42 PM

DBJ did you get TTTSNB's message?

billdrum 09-08-2005 09:42 PM
^ That is pretty freaking weird man. Is that your dog?
No, just a pic I found.

rockindrummer 09-08-2005 09:51 PM

^ K, good.

Win A Rabbit 09-08-2005 09:57 PM

i despise people dressing up dogs. my neighbor wouldn't let her dog go out to piss/s'hit if it didn't have it's little booties and scarf on, IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER. and when she takes it out for walks, a whole different story. sweater, scarf, hat, and full leg booties. :amaze:

rockindrummer 09-08-2005 10:03 PM

^ ahh what that is just wrong.

Win A Rabbit 09-08-2005 10:10 PM

and it gets worse. she has multiple outfits for the dog, and occasionally she'll match what she's wearing with what the dog's wearing. oh do i laugh when i see that.

so i was thinking... yesterday my friend wanted me to test out the drums before he bought them, so i played some stuff i usually play, and the guy that works there (big jazz drummer) asked me what time sig i was playing. i told him it was in 4/4, and he didn't believe me. i broke some of what i was playing down to him, and he refused to say it was in 4/4. he would say it was in 7/8 followed by 9/8, etc. when i told him it was just simple phrasing. and i considered it to be in 4/4. then he told me that drummers nowadays are too obsessed with making drums "mathematical" that they've forgotten the meaning of drums: to lay down a simple rhythm. what's your guys' opinion on that? (for the record, i wasn't playing anything complicated really, just fairly simple rock beats)

billdrum 09-08-2005 10:12 PM

He makes a point, but it is possible to combine both elements: groove and complexity.

Arcturus 09-08-2005 10:17 PM

The reason my band plays in a lot of complex time sigs is because we're tired of repetitive, generic music.

billdrum 09-08-2005 10:20 PM

BTW, would you believe Drummaker sent me the wrong hoop again for my popcorn snare? Third time. Unbelievable. The owner went into the warehouse himself while we were on the phone this time to find the right hoop. I hope somebody gets fired!

Plan B. 09-08-2005 10:38 PM

Hahaha, oh man.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing it as a joke now... a cruel, sick, joke.

Double Bass Jim 09-08-2005 10:39 PM

Hahaha gezz bill, your getting screwed over big time.

billdrum 09-08-2005 10:39 PM

Yeah, I'm afraid to open the next package.

aznriceball 09-08-2005 10:48 PM

geezus..i spent an hr reading about 5 pages, im now on like pg22 of this thread. is it even POSSIBLE to catch up?

billdrum 09-08-2005 10:50 PM

AM doesn't have the selection drummaker has, especially the black hardware that I like.

rockindrummer 09-08-2005 10:52 PM

^ I wouldn't try. There were some awsome conversations a while back though.

poppinfresh 09-08-2005 10:56 PM

i must agree there, but since the last time i have llooked there selection got better but i do agree with you. I like the deal that they have where if you buy the shell and the hardware you get free edges and holes thats the only reason im buying from them.

styler 09-08-2005 11:05 PM

ive decided i wanna teach young kids drumming when im older, i taught my first lesson today to a 10 year old (im 16) cuz my drum teacher was having a conversation with his dad and he thought it would be educational for me.
i taught him for like an hour and a half cuz my teacher thought i was doing a good job and everything i was saying and explaining stuck to the kid like glue..was the koolest feeling when he finally mastered a basic 8th note, lol.
im such a sap :P

billdrum 09-08-2005 11:16 PM

Polyrhythms next lesson!

Win A Rabbit 09-08-2005 11:41 PM

i'm going to be teaching my friend drums right away. he got me to write down everything he should buy (metronome, stick control, practice pad, etc.), some basic rock beats to master (leading with both left and right) and some open hi-hat work. things that i learned when i first started. tomorrow i'm going to show him proper technique, and rudiments and such. he's pretty good so far, i just need to show him some dynamics and get him grooving, because he's very mechanical when he drums. he's my little project of the month, i wanna see how good of a teacher i am.

PowerStamp 09-09-2005 12:24 AM

The way to roll with the Stronghold is to go back 3 pages from the latest one and read from there to see the current conversation, and go from there.
:P

This is something I must say.

WINTER SOLSTICE IS BADASS.
I've seen them live twice and finally got their CD awhile back, but ****it man this band is killer.
http://www.purevolume.com/wintersolstice

That version's not the best quality, but their timing as a band is awesome, great song.

Don't screw up though. You teach him bad technique, he gets hurt.. guess who gets sued?

Must be a bunch of friggin morons. If you can't be creative and fresh in 4/4. You can't be creative and fresh period.

billdrum 09-09-2005 06:46 AM

So people shouldn't stretch out and try new things and different meters?
