Lol Jon, one extremist in a protest doesn't represent it. Yesterday there was a guy comparing Israel, the US and the UK to the Nazis, doesn't mean we all thought it was true. Do you see anyone else shouting "Bomb Denmark so we can take their wives as war booty"? No, it's just one idiot with everyone else looking at him strange. You keep doing this, you find the worst image you can and you stereotype everyone you don't like to that image.

Jon 10-10-2006 11:29 AM

I got my first thread on Stormfront ever approved :D

(this is just for the people who call me a nazi, lolz)

http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread.php?t=332309

I'm suprised that there was only one person vaguely sensible in that thread, I thought the Opposing Views forum would contain people with opposing views.

edit: but Stormfront still kicks *** for its wealth of self defence topics and such, they should really require verification that you're not Jewish before you read that stuff.

coheneran 10-10-2006 11:34 AM

Jesus Christ Jon, that's a ****ing neo-Nazi website. Why don't you start quoting Skrewdriver lyrics and handing out copies of The Believer while you're at it? I can prove to you, through logic AND through common sense, that racism and nationalism are stupid. You're really on the verge of self-hating idiocy here.

Jon 10-10-2006 11:44 AM

I'm not racist though, and I linked you to that thread to prove how far from being WN I am.

That, and my Aunt is the exec director of the Anne Frank Trust, tolerance runs in my blood or something.

asdf 10-10-2006 05:16 PM

I originally heard or stormfront on MX in 2003. Get with the times, Jon.

Jon 10-10-2006 05:19 PM

Me too =/

This is just the first time they've approved a thread of mine.

edit: screenprinting.

if I wanna do a t-shirt i'll do it with acetate, yeah? then what? my teacher was going on about some machine thing, and some reason why I should only do one colour? its ages till the next lesson and so I wanna get the stencil done before class, if its possible - whats the machine thingy and how does it differ to normal silkscreening with stencils made from newsprint?

coheneran 10-10-2006 05:30 PM

When I did it with my friend, we photocopied the image onto acetate (I think it sounds better pronounced ass-eh-tight) and then put it on the screen with a very bright like shining into it, to expose it onto the screen (there may have been a chemical involved, can't remember, was more concentrating on rolling the next joint than learning anything).

Jon 10-10-2006 05:31 PM

Are you australian or something =/

Why do you have to expose it and stuff? Surely you can just snip out the bits to show, as per usual?

coheneran 10-10-2006 05:33 PM
Are you australian or something =/

But exposing it allows you to have islands without needing bridges etc., and it lets you have waaaaay more details, down to the pixel.

Jon 10-10-2006 05:36 PM

oic, makes sense sort of i guess

Danger Bird 10-10-2006 10:32 PM

What bin Laden did isn't half as bad as what the US has been doing to the Middle East for the last 60 years. Not to mention the rest of the West.

Not that I'm defending bin Laden, mind you, in fact I don't believe in violence no matter what the reason. But at the very least, you at least have to concede that these people have a reason to be so upset. It's not because they hate our freedom. Wait, what thread is this again?

Jon 10-11-2006 10:49 AM

This is DIY, I think its a sign for us to build our own mortars, sew together camo trousers and go to the local radical mosque.

READ: this post was a joke please do not take it seriously thank you

There are two main methods with silkscreening: One is where you cover a screen with light-sensitive emulsion, and then expose it against a positive image; the other involves adhering a negative image that's water soluable to the screen.

The first method is the most professional, but it takes more equipment (emulsion, scoop coat, plus an exposure unit & wash out stand if you wanna get fancy). I guessing you're doing the second method, which is simpler -- I don't remember if the water-soluble stuff is called acetate but it might be. the stuff I'm thinking of is green. But yeah, if you know what to do, definetely cut out the stencil. Cause then you'll actually be able to make the screen next class.

You want one color because it's simpler. You only need one screen, and you don't need to worry about registering the image and making sure everything lines up. Also with multiple colors you'd preferably have a carosol stand, which, again, is more complex and expensive.

Last night I made a Limp Wrist shirt and stenciled some folk punk designs onto a hoodie. Big Defiance Ohio logo across the back, and Ghost Mice plus Mischief Brew on the front pockets. Plus a logo of two figures holding hands in the shape of a heart on the left chest. I think it's for riot folk. I've got a bucnh of silkscreening projects lined up for when I have a few free days. The first thing's going to be a Witch Hunt peace sign backpatch/shirt.

... too bad orangina isn't combustable. You'd have to find alchohol anyways.

plebeian scum 10-11-2006 04:39 PM

Oh yes ... (I'm double posting so **** you)

This weekend there's something called the "really really free market" happening. It's basically a big gathering of anarchist-inclined peoples to exchange goods and services, and to just hang out. I'm (hopefully) going to go & set up a stenciling demo. I'm hoping to have some supplies and a handout I can give out.

I don't think either of them is what we did =/

Here are the images.

First one - considering its my first silkscreening, its way too complicated and I screwed up the stencil many times I'm quite proud of it.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y194/jondz3003/print001.jpg

Second one, half done. Got the black stencil done but didn't have time to print it.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y194/jondz3003/print002.jpg
will be
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y194/jondz3003/lamf1.jpg

We made stencils out of newsprint (basically really thin paper, A2 size) as you do, held them to the bottom of the silkscreen, put a blank piece of paper underneath, put in on top and wiped it across =/

The other thing I'm thinking about is the huge machine on the other side of the room, something to do with chemicals. Acetate is the transparency stuff you use on overhead projectors =/

It was the title of a Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers album and it means Like A Mother Fucker

Bob Dylan's 'fro makes him exceedingly hard to stencil. Maybe if I used some deliberate overspray around his head...

EDIT: So which of these looks better?

Rise Me Up 10-14-2006 08:59 AM

Yeah, I think I'm gonna still the first one from you, but not do the harmonica,

coheneran 10-14-2006 09:11 AM

Really? I reckon the harmonica is essential to the Dylan look. Particularly if you want people to recognise it. Here's the reaction to that pic from someone who doesn't know it's supposed to be Dylan:

"Who's that? Pete Doherty? A harmonica? Ohhhh, it's Dylan isn't it?"

Rise Me Up 10-14-2006 09:16 AM

Yeah, I think I'm gonna add some text though. On the top it'll say BOB and then on the bottom it'll say DYLAN.

Here are the latest additions to my PE shirt:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v428/BPMead007/10-14-06_1519.jpg

Neil Young, I'm very proud of this one, I made it myself:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v428/BPMead007/10-14-06_1520.jpg

Coyote howling next to cactus. I have no idea, I just got the urge to make this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v428/BPMead007/10-14-06_1521.jpg

My friend Guzey. This one isn't as bad as it looks, it's just a blurry picure. The text says "viva la revolucion", because he's Dominican so we make fun of him all the time:
