Im going to wait till I see them live (team sleep) before I go out and buy their album. Which is the complete reverse method than I usually do.

They said "try in the Audacity thread in the Jam Session.

I'm seeing them a week after the album comes out, next Tuesday. I think it'll be interesting, but I'm not as excited about it as I would be for, say Deftones , or Dredg, whom I'll be seeing the following week in the same venue.

But if the album's really good, then it'll boost my excitement, I'm sure.

Moses 05-09-2005 07:15 PM

Hey Kage, I'm assuming you know a little about recording. What's the best way to get drums on a free program? Audacity has no drums and I figure I need to import the drums from a different program.

Darkness 05-09-2005 07:17 PM

You want like Midi file drums right?

Moses 05-09-2005 07:20 PM
You want like Midi file drums right?
Well somthing I won't have to record live.

Darkness 05-09-2005 07:22 PM

Then why not play the guitar pro midi file of the drums through your speakers and record onto your mic onto Audacity... kinda stupid but it'd work.

What kind of music is Dredg? I hear alot about them.

Kage 05-09-2005 07:24 PM

I'm pretty sure there are websites from which you can download Midi drums, or use a keyboard. But usually when I record drums, I use Garageband, and that's completely different. I'll research it a little bit.

Moses 05-09-2005 07:24 PM

Wait, how do I do this?

Kage 05-09-2005 07:25 PM
What kind of music is Dredg? I hear alot about them.
They're sort of Art/Progressive/Heavy Rock, in my opinion. Their styles vary from CD to CD, but they have one CD that is pretty hard and heavy and another one that stays more mellow. I'll upload a couple tracks that I think represent them well. Give me a few minutes.

Another one coming.

Dancin' Man 05-09-2005 07:31 PM

Only give tracks off of El Cielo. LeMotif is good but no where near as good. Especially track to track.

Kage 05-09-2005 07:42 PM

Here's my personal favorite song from El Cielo

Dredg - Of The Room

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-09-2005 07:52 PM

I DLed Kayasuma off of Orph a while ago. I was expecting something a lot more Radioheadish for some reason, then there were these in your face kickarse vox.

No me gusta screaming. :p

I'll check out Of The Room though. :thumb:

Kurppt- There are some choppy sections, but overall it's not a bad peice. Now could someone point me in the direction of just the bass and drum parts please? I'd like to get my version down as well now that I have Audacity. :D

NP: Chop Suey-SoaD. I can't wait for Mezmerize. I know it's been leaked, but I don't wanna ruin my Mezmerize virginity by filesharing. (a)

That's an early song, their later stuff (such as Of the Room or Catch Without Arms) is more mellow, and in my opinion better.

There's one more I'll put up as well.

Huber 05-09-2005 08:22 PM

I don't know if you guys think it's a good idea or not, but something in the Metallica gave me an idea.

We could do like Forced Listenings for Tool/APC songs and get deep descriptions. Also a good way to find good rare/live tracks.

I love that album, the new one that is. I don't really "care" about SOAD that much, so it doesnt effect me listening to the leak.

Kage-this stuff is pretty good. Thanks.
^ Glad someone noticed I posted that...
I caught it but it's loading very slowly fro me so I'll thank you now and wait patiently. :thumb: you rock

SonorKen 05-09-2005 08:55 PM

Im workin on the drum tracks! I promise! I recorded some with my cassette recorder and they sounded horrible. Im recording them now with the digital recorder but I left the owners manual at the other place and can't remember how to use it. I shall conquer the problem!

Darkness 05-09-2005 09:09 PM

Can't wait Ken.

Magicaltroll 05-09-2005 09:11 PM

Hey Sonorken, can you help me out here?
How many songs do you think a band should get down (original I mean) to play some shows? Because as of right now we have about 5 or 6 down, and we were thinking that would be enough to play some shows. But you're in a band and I'm guessing you've played shows and I was wondering...

Thanks in advance, I've been wondering this for awhile.

Moses 05-09-2005 09:20 PM

Ok, does anyone know where to download some midi drum files?

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-09-2005 09:27 PM

I don't care about them either. My personal beleifs are as opposite from their 'message' as it gets. I find some of their lyrics to be some of the dumbest shit ever written, but then I find some of their material to be some of the coolest stuff. Plus, if they were to actually follow their moral code of hating the government and such, I doubt they would mind if I whored Mezmerize.

Meh, I'll hear it eventually.
