The clue is in its name.

15...

Radiobass81 05-14-2005 07:58 PM

Not necessarily. It could just mean it has 1 5" speaker.

Its prolly 15 watts.

5" is awful small for bass.

LewsTherin 05-14-2005 08:06 PM

Oh...and speaking of small speakers, anyone know of any companies that make bass cabs with 8" speakers? Ive seen the SWR 8x8, but I dont want 8 of em.

4x8 is really common, but wont really give you the low definded sound that is bass. i would go for a 4x10 or 2x12 with a midrange, it would give you a much better overall sound.

I was planning on going 1x18 + 2/4x8 if i could.

I frigging love my 1x8 practice amps tone.

I frigging hate my 1x15 gig-amps sound.

hmm that set up would be good, but once you go big like an 18" you can loose efficiency in the sound that is produced. say you are hitting an open low B which is around 35hz, now that would be fine with a 18" in fact it would be perfict, but now say that you had to tune down to a low A (around 29hz) for a song, it wouldn't sound as good because of the frequancy responce that an 18" will have, in fact that note would be more defined through a 15" speaker. just something to think about.

thelowsoundofbass 05-14-2005 08:18 PM

just forgot, IMO 15" is as big as you have to go. but its all up to you, remember to play before you buy.

ps i compeat in car sterios and i find that the biggest you have to go is a 15", i for one like 10's better than anything else, you can get just as good of a sound out of a 10 as you can a 15 and the 10 has a bigger frequancy responce range.

LewsTherin 05-14-2005 08:23 PM

Yea it sucks, 5 days of walking in the hot bush, getting all sweaty and gross. It might be alright. But I have to wake up REALLY early tomorrow, to catch a bus to get to the camp place, which is 5 hours away.
