I'm ordering my new hihat stand tonight.

Yamaha HS1000.

130 bucks, but it comes with a case. Massmusic says they can ship it for 5 dollars. They explained they're 'always trying new things' with shipping and prices and such.

Hey guys, remember earlier where I had this guy comment BS on my vid...well he's replied

Opinions...?

What shall I say?

Josiah 02-12-2007 06:11 PM

Say..

OK. If you know about drums, explain how you say backsticking is not allowed in matched, yet Jeff Queen teaches it on both hands, trad and matched. See VicFirth.com Jeff Queen Lessons.

If traditional grip is for left hand only. Then explain why Carter Beauford, Thomas Lang and Billy Cobham all use a right handed traditional grip on occasion.

MattMarlow 02-12-2007 06:12 PM

LOL that kid is nooblet. If you're immature like me, ridicule him (grade 1, 5 years, claims to know about drumming) and show him a few vids of proffessionals doing what he says is wrong.

How does ash sound compared to other woods? (Maple and Birch namely, as they're what I have experience with). I had a look on the tuning bible, but it didn't have it listed.

Edit: What Jos said.

Futuro 02-12-2007 06:17 PM

Lenny white plays traditional with his right hand on a normal set up.

Josiah 02-12-2007 06:21 PM

There ya go

Retarded Chipple 02-12-2007 06:35 PM

Thanks guys. Heres what I said (although it hasn't seem to have come up yet...):

"Grade 1 drummer!? You haven't got very far considering you've been playing for 5 years and the grades start at 1!

Your knowledge is obviously far more superior than mine so please explain why back-sticking is not allowed in matched and how Jeff Queen still teaches it on both hands, trad+matched.

If trad grip is for left hand only then why do Carter Beauford, Thomas Lang+Billy Cobham all use a right handed trad grip on occasion?

Out of interest, do you play drum-set or marching?"

Aaron 02-12-2007 09:27 PM

^ specs updated. Soon i'll do pictures of my setups. I have a rock setup including the bigger crashes, a traditional jazz setup with the smaller/darker stuff and a fusion setup including some of the splashes as hats added into the jazz setup. All in all I have 4 different kit setups I'll use depending on content/audience/purpose.

I've been trying to download the Everything Is Illuminated soundtrack for a while now. I don't imagine anyone here has it, do they?

Whoa, I just found one that isn't dead. Disregard this post.

I didn't really like the movie, but the soundtrack was great. I think I have a new love for soundtracks, and their cohesive-ness in most cases.

fishbulb 02-12-2007 10:21 PM

Nope, sorry.

Maggot Dream 02-12-2007 10:29 PM

Children of Men had a great soundtrack. Good movie, too.

Chippy569 02-12-2007 10:50 PM

what was that one about?

Maggot Dream 02-12-2007 11:01 PM
what was that one about?
It's set in the future, and for some reason, humanity has lost the ability to reproduce. They find a girl who is somehow pregnant, and the main character is trying to get her out of England (which is controlled by an authoritarian government) to a research project trying to figure out why humans can't reproduce.

It was the first movie I've seen with a King Crimson song and Pink Floyd reference in the same scene. The soundtrack was awesome.
