Im talking about with them micing up 3 stacks with whatever high gain processing they were using, and then applying it so it didnt sound ridiculously bad and boomy in small venues.

Yeah apparently they send the sound out through the PA and use atomic wedges to monitor their guitar sound. Tesseract, interestingly, don't have an pedals or anything on the floor because all of their changes are handled by a macbook pro and their clean sounds come from an AxeFX (IIRC).

Periphery goes D.O. to the board now from axefx, and automatic changes sounds pretty cool. Tap dancing and changing effects is annoying, but that also means everyone is tied down to a click and there's no room for error or spontaneity.

I tried listening to Tesseract but I found the album pretty boring

why the fuck would anybody listen to tesseract when you can just listen to fellsilent instead which is a bajillion times better

Tesseract managed this. First thing I said to my mate when we got there (missed half their set) was that their sound was particularly loud, but incredibly balanced. I wasn't quite sure if I liked it since I kinda like it loud, but upon reflection it was well mixed.
