This is really immature.
Would you like some sarcasm tags? I can't really tell... I've heard Question! before and it's a solid song. Not particularly immature or mature... LALALALALALLALALALALLALALA  |
I despise Coldplay.
They're basically a ripoff of Radiohead's Green Plastic Trees - which was a good song but wasn't anything groundbreaking. Coldplay has become mediocre, IMO.
Indeed their latest effort wasnt much of an effort really. Their old stuff is pretty good i think thou. :thumb: |
Clocks was good, I guess.

Ok..here is my vocals on Stinkfist. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/7/moredemos_music.htm
Its ok but I think I couldve done a little better...now in hindsight. But again...I live in apartments and I feel funny about loud vocals maybe disturbing my neighbors or whatever and I just dont like singing in my apartment. Anyways...and then the song Burn is from a group called Group Surgery. They had some instrumentals and let me demo over this one. It clipped in the download and got cut off. But that part at the end is one of those deals that really moves me...it sounds exactly the way it felt, and what I was writing about. just perfect for me and I love it. Then there is a sample on there for the Jams Session singing threads...just a gliss and a whistle register note... Nothing most of you are interested in I'm sure. Anyways...enjoy. Thanks to Rounder and Matter for the music. I'll be downloading all the others and playing with them as well I'm sure. |
you sound like the dude from a band that i cant think of.....(crappy explanation)....the band they had a song called "i hate everything about you" forgot name.
anyway who the hell did drums on that track? they sounded alot better than mine. |
Can someone tell, me is Opiate a good album?
|
Eh, I haven't heard their new album, but I enjoy their music even if it isn't all that original.
Enjoy the mogwai song? Im hoping the http://www.teleincision.com/ isnt just some kid stealing the domain name for hope of money, and that it really is a Tool deal (its the new logo style, I know, but easily imitatable). It looks like August may still contain a nice suprise after all |
Can someone tell, me is Opiate a good album?
For a Tool fan, it is. For an outsider, not the best start, but still a solid effort. |

For an outsider, not the best start, but still a solid effort.
Thanks, I was thinking of checking it out, I saw it super-cheap. I've never heard any tool songs before. Lots of people like them though. From what I've heard is they have long complex songs that build up to huge crescendos. Am I right in thinking this? Do you think they'd appeal to a rock/pop/punk fan like me? Or is the best thing just to check them out? |
Not sure if they're still active...
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8305624&postcount=873 But there are a nice selection of tracks that got uploaded by someone which is a nice Tool intro. Check them out first. Opiate will be the most financially sound album to get (how cheap btw?), but since you've heard nothing, start with the Ænima/Lateralus choice. Opiate is a lot different from regular tool |
Sort of. One thing you should know is that their guitarist does not do "solos" in the sense of Metallica or a band like that. His solos are more about furthering the song than about showing off. Yes, their songs are complex. Many of their songs have a whole bunch of different sections to them. I'm not exactly sure I would say that they build up to huge crescendos. I think all of their songs get harder as they go on, but if you expect them to all have some type of epic ending to them in the sense of Dream Theater's "Octavarium", than you are mistaken (even though their songs do have great endings to them). Then again, you might not be asking this at all and I'm just reading your question wrong. I don't know. The best advice I can give is to just hear some songs for yourself. |

|
I've been hospitilazied for 2 weeks. Can someone update what happened in the last two weeks concerning tool and the cover contest.

AJIG, did you make that Avatar? I had a cool one made for me for another site, has a pic of Adam you don't, and it's cool.

Do you think they'd appeal to a rock/pop/punk fan like me? Or is the best thing just to check them out?
NO idea. Tool is widely considered to be progressive hard rock, although they do have some legit metal songs. As a pop/punk fan such as yourself, I think that the best song to check out of Tool's would be 46&2 because it's catchy (for Tool) and is easy to get in to. The bass intro is also...amazing... |
Also check out sober and schism for songs to get in too also stinkfist

i just saw danny play, he's awsome

anyway who the hell did drums on that track? they sounded alot better than mine.
^I did...it was actually recorded about 4 years ago...I know I played it wrong on a lot of the parts + the floor tom mic cut out during the whole song 8/. I should re-do it now I can play it fairly accurate(the fill leading into teh last chorus is bad-azz). The vocals came out good...like you said it was pitchy sometimes and its hard to scream bloody murder in an apartment, but keep singing and practicing you have the makings of a killer voice IMO. |

thank god it was you matter.....would normally feel all wierd :) your floor tom mic cut.....eh....if one of my mic's cut.....that will be the end of my recording. :D |
Merkaba, you did a good job on that cover, your voice is cool, dude!

Like the others said, you were pitchy at times, but you have a very distinct voice, and when you were on, it sounded killer. That was also a good recording mixing job. way to go. Truth be told I was a little concerned about hearing other people we didnt know singing on our tracks, but you did a pretty good job there. :thumb: |
True, that stinkfist thigny is perdy good, I thought u missed on tiems but it was good. But i sorta felt while hearing like if it was someone singing while some radio s palying a song. . .it didnt all seem one peice in my opinion
Where is the backing track to Stinkfist? I wanna record my vocals tomorrow.
HAAAAA SCREW YOU ALL PAGE FOUR HUNDRED!!!! Was that over the top enough?
I have it. I'll insert the link here The link is now edited, so click there to get the backing track. It's actually the soundclick with a few of our cover songs on it. The Stinkfist is only me playing guitar, but it is what we're going to use as a backing track. :-/ Don't ask. Moses- If you don't want to get ignored, you must you size 7 bold font. (Do NOT use orange though. That's my color.) |
I'm just posting, because I want a post on page 400, since I assisted in getting here. :)
I figured this was as good a place as any to ask.
I'm going to start a record collection now that I have some loose cash to throw around. I figured a good place to start was Tool. I've found Opiate, Undertow, and Aenima vinyls so far. Does anyone know where I can find Lateralus on vinyl? I've checked the local stores around here, as well as Ebay with no luck. Also, is there an vinyl version of Salival? Thanks.
They didn't release Lateralus on vinyl. It's the only album they've not put out on vinyl, so my guess is that it shall come out some day. Perhaps along with Teleincision. (In that case, perhaps never. :p) |
Theres no Salival either.
|
TOOL...is....really good!
