I like it a lot. Comparable to PATGOD, but not quite as good. I haven't heard Barrett, his other album though. Anyone know if that's good.

And that would have been an awesome tour with Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Yeah PATGOD is much better, but I was just pleasently surprised when I heard his solo album because I heard lots of bad things about it.. It definately grew on me..

As far as his other album goes, I've only heard a couple of tracks from it..and I don't really recall what they were like.. only that one song about an elephant which is crazy..

Kingofdudes 09-17-2005 04:40 PM
In that link I posted it had all 5 members of the Floyd. I thought that was pretty cool. How long did they stay a 5 man group?
Only like 1 - 2 weeks. There is a really sad picture of them in "Inside out" with all 5 of them. Dave, Roger, Nick, and Rick are all up front on the photo, and Syd is hovering in the back.

Distant Echoes 09-17-2005 05:00 PM

I believe They kicked syd out by simply not picking him up for one of their gigs...and he sortta got the point from there.

And whats the Madcap Laughs your all talking about? is this a song or album or what?

Kingofdudes 09-17-2005 05:12 PM

A Syd Barret Solo album

Distant Echoes 09-17-2005 05:15 PM

Oh alright, i thought it was some floyd bootleg at first. Theres something about solo albums I tend to dislike...cant figure it out yet.

Its my unofficial duty also to announce the Australian Pink Floyd Show is starting an American Tour in November again. Tix go generally for $35, but all the dates havent yet been announced. Their a really great show for a decent price. I'd recommend any and all floyd fans to see them.

standard 09-17-2005 07:20 PM

Holy ****.. I'm going to see them again.

That sounds cool. I hope they come to Washington.

magicbus 09-17-2005 11:53 PM

In addition to downloading a few more bootlegs, I found a video of Pink Floyd playing Careful With That Axe Eugene. It's awesome. I got like super chills when Waters starting screaming.

EDIT: Also, I this live version of Echoes I actually got creeped out by the middle part. The noises are so high-pitched and fast that it sounds like a hyena or something.

they're absolutely incredible.

Delta_King 09-18-2005 08:29 AM

The Pompeii DVD is brilliant. Its weirdly played out like a film aswell as a few performances.

its my favourite DVD ever.

robo2448 09-18-2005 08:48 AM

No Aussie Floyd dates scheduled for NYC. I hope more dates get posted, including 1 in NY. They sound awesome.

Distant Echoes 09-18-2005 08:50 AM

Near my favorite, but Rush in Rio > LZ DVD (disc 1) > Pompeii. Then the others all sortta float around after that...

I like the director's cut much more then regular one though. I dont know why somebody wouldn't, unless their strictly about only watching music on the DVDs and absolutely nothing else.

But even then, The directors cut has both versions in it

Distant Echoes 09-18-2005 08:53 AM

Theyll probably do NYC. Only a few dates are posted on ticketmaster, their official site doesnt even have any yet (www.aussiefloyd.com). Philadelphia isnt posted up yet either, but i know their gonna be here on Nov 30th.

Watch PBS/WHYY, or whatever station begs for money on your tv. Theyve been playing Aussie floyd non stop at nights and selling front tix for about $180. Thats with a $145 donation included, so dont get that.

Senor_Whippy 09-18-2005 08:55 AM

I'm new to this thread and to Pink Floyd so be nice with me.I think See Emily Play is brilliant.....that is all Bye!

Thats the station I saw them on last week. My friend said they're coming to Philly, so we're going to go if they come. 180 seems a bit steep for a cover band, though.

I saw in the newspaper a while ago that the was like a PF laser show or sumthin. Does anyone know anything about that? I saw just a laser show in like 2nd grade and don't really remember it but a PF one might be pretty cool.

Oh ok. I'll probably try to go. It sounds pretty cool and it couldn't be too expensive.

Distant Echoes 09-18-2005 06:31 PM

I heard about the Pink Floyd laser show. It's sopposed to be pretty good, and cheap. I would go, but I never remember to check when its coming. My parents told me its been around for quite a while though.

And to Obi, the tix dont cost that much, their only appr $35. PBS is trying to rip you off with their donations and stuff.

clairvoyant 09-18-2005 06:35 PM

What songs do they play at these laser shows?

I just remeber the episode of That 70's Show when Eric really wanted to see Laser Floyd

My dad was telling me they were going to do a Floyd Laser show while showing The Wizard of Oz
I told him that sounds like something I'd go to if I was on shrooms
He must have realized it was true, he hasn't spoken of it since. Too bad, it sounded kinda cool :p

Distant Echoes 09-18-2005 07:22 PM

Floyd during Oz? Ive tryed that myself, and that would not be worht paying for, though the first time the album played did match really good.

/attempts not to bring that topic up again

I dont remember the 70s episode when eric wants to see that. I thought Ive seen them all to, though i did like when he was in line for the styx by himself all night  good stuff

magicbus 09-18-2005 08:12 PM

I remember Eric talking about "Laser Floyd". I remember not really knowing much about Pink Floyd back then.

DeusExMachina 09-18-2005 08:26 PM

Heya thread.

I've never seen That 70's Show. Is it any good?

Laser Floyd is awesome.

blue3 09-18-2005 08:31 PM

Seriously? Yeah I like the show, I used to watch it all the time..

dr._feelgood 09-18-2005 08:31 PM

It's a great show. It is a very good representation af the seventies.

BigTrav415 09-18-2005 10:01 PM

I really like That 70s Show. They manage to lampoon the 70s, make it seem like a 70s show, and make it hilarious all at the same time.

Riva 09-19-2005 12:55 AM

That '80s show was waaay better. :D

So, I listened to my More tape again today. Great stuff. That warm sound that you get from tapes makes the album so much the better.
