Yeah, a lot of kids who play the high-paying sports in high school get REALLY competitive, cos they think they'll make a career of it. My maths teacher was explaining statistics once, and he said "Put your hands up if you play Rugby League". After a dozen people had put their hands up, he said "Keep them up if you want to play it professionally". Around 6 people kept their hands up. My teacher then went on to prove the chances of those 6 making it to the national league, and it worked out to be a 0.00000005/6 chance or something. So basically a few follicles of hair from one of those kids would make it to the NRL. :p

you have better odds than that in baseball i think...

its about 2% of all college players make it i think...

Those numbers may include all the guys who just make it to A, AA, and AAA ball, not just the majors. Cause a lot of college players just end up scattering between the minors.

Yeah...but a very large portion of those players make it to the majors
and a ton of the college players that get drafter go straight to pro anyway.
