I was shocked that they played the entire thing live with an Orchestra.

I cant wait for the DVD.

Is their going to be a Gigantour DVD?

Element of LED 435 04-03-2006 02:33 PM

There is nothing stupid about having all the albums, not just the mp3's. I have all the DT studio albums and most of the live albums. As does most people in this thread (probably).

kurrpt 04-03-2006 02:40 PM

actually...

i feel the more i download albums, im actually motivated more to buy the CDs

Example : Dragonforce

having had no experience with the band, i downloaded anything i could get my hands on. After listening to the new CD a dozen times in less than 2 weeks, im not frantically buying up tickets to see them live (where REALLY make money) T-shirts, the whole nine

everyone knows the band makes diddly for the album sales

Element of LED 435 04-03-2006 02:41 PM

its all about royalties and how much the bands royalty rate is

Yeah, I have the entire discography...bootlegs will be needed, though.

jpshortstuff 04-03-2006 02:43 PM

you could get someone to send you samples songs of all the albums that you're considering, then buy the album you want. Of course the problem then is that you'll want all the albums because of how amazing the songs are, but you'll end up buying them all anyway if you want to be a true fan.

I was going to buy the Dark Side of the Moon, Master of Puppets and Number of the Beast Bootlegs, but I only have enough for a poster and 2 shirts.

temporary 04-03-2006 03:01 PM

GenuineImitation: You seriously have to be the luckiest guy ever. If I got a chance like that I'd spend all my time practicing. If you get in, that would be amazing.

Yea, I was tempted by a copy of When Dream and Day Reunite, but the damn 20th Anniversary shirt was thirty five bucks.

Thanks.

I got the 20th Anniversary shirt/poster, program and the Octavarium t-shirt (the one with the picture of the maze from the octavarium cartoon)

My digital camera wouldn't stay in focus that well when recording movies, but I still present you with this damn good shot of the end of Sacrificed Sons.

I downloaded most Dream Theater (Except for Scenes From a Memory which was a present from my parents), but I have later gone back and bought them all.

Except for When Day and Dream Unite, Falling Into Affinity(sp?) and the full A Change of Seasons album..

How long is that movie?

Laztec 04-04-2006 07:32 AM

DT's number of the beast bootleg- Does it have james' vocals on it?

Jev 04-04-2006 08:29 AM

Yup.
He sounds a lot like Bruce.

ghettoeddo 04-04-2006 10:04 AM

maiden even asked james to fill in for bruce after he left.
that says something my friends.

geniune, hope you get the position. you're set for great and awesome things :]
will you guys be playing DT covers or original songs?

ok im a little embarassed, but i don't have all the original albums...i downloaded most of mine but i went and bought all the live albums and such. if i get the money, i wanna buy 6DOIT cuz it sounds better all connected on the 2nd disk, but burned CD's stop and restart so it's disjointed.

Jev 04-04-2006 10:05 AM

I'm surprised LaBrie never took the opportunity.

Holy crap!
Name return!

Yeah, me too; although I think he realised it's a bugger of a position to take up. Blaze was never fully accepted by the fans, amazing vocalist though he is, and excellent albums The X-Factor and VXI are.

He fits DT so much better and must have been confident of the success to happen, he made the right decision IMO.

JamJar 04-04-2006 01:01 PM

And his Kanadian ways wouldn't work in a British band :P

Thanks! I definitly thought all the Octavarium songs sounded better live, especially that one.

As for DT's NOTB cover, its really good. James is in top form throughout. Children of the Damned, 22 Acacia Avenue, and Hallowed Be Thy Name are right up their with the originals.

Octavarium or Train of Thought?

Which to buy?

Edit: ToT is OoS!

Octavarium or lets see... 6DOIT?

Another Edit: I got impatient waiting for advice. I went with Octovarium

Thats a great choice, but if I saw your post, I would have recommended
6DoIT.

JamJar 04-04-2006 04:14 PM

6DOIT > ToT > Octavarium in my opinion. Octavarium does nothing for me.

GenuineImitation 04-04-2006 04:16 PM

I love Octavaarium, but I agree with the order you have listed.

The_Riddler 04-04-2006 04:26 PM

Octavarium by no means is a bad album, it's the album that got me into Dream Theater. 6DOIT has some great songs on it, as well, Train of Thought would have been better to go with though. That album just amazed me.

GenuineImitation 04-04-2006 04:31 PM

All their albums have amazed me, even Falling Into Infinity (I think this albums deserves a little more respect than it gets.).

The enitre second disk of 6DoIT is amazing. I love it even more after the concert.

Lord Abortion 04-04-2006 04:44 PM

Falling into infinity is severely underrated, it has two of my favourite DT sopngs, take away my pain and hollow years on it, and just let me breathe, New Millenium and Trial of tears are all excellent.

NP-Rush-Tom Sawyer(Live)

GenuineImitation 04-04-2006 04:47 PM

It would have been ironic if they played Trial of Tears because earlier in the day, it was rainning on the streets of New York City.

Lord Abortion 04-04-2006 04:50 PM

Was it indeed?

I love that song, especially the LATB version.
