What? The Wall? That's under the name Pink Floyd not Roger Waters. I meant like ROGER WATERS. his totally solo work, away from PF.

I think Roger made better music on his own. It's very much more musically great than the early work. Water made the group more mature. The early work, IMO, was them having fun as young adults.
it was a weak attempt at a joke.

I just find the solo stuff boring. there's nothing musically original or exciting about it, the lyrics don't appeal to me and in some of roger's albums the vocals consitute little more than rhythmic monologue.

Roger elft pink floyd because he felt that the other members were simply jealous of his songwriting ability and ebcause he was upset that they said he couldn't sing.

However, an outsider might suppose that the reason roger was doing mostr of the songwriting was that he wouldn't let anybody else do it.

he went on to make some veyr offenisve comments about david gilmour, which in the msot part dave didn't dignify with petty arguments. but they were both pretty silly about it.

Yea. I'm really suprised that they got back together.

That's why Gilmour and Waters with an arm around each other on stage, was simply.. amazing.

Prince of Darkness 09-16-2005 03:02 PM

Fuk, I wanna see that Live8 Pink floyd Concert. Was it any good?

standard 09-16-2005 03:03 PM

It was pretty good..

It was more of a "wow I can't belive this is happening" then, what a great performance.

Waters discography

1970-Music From The Body
1984-Pros And Cons Of Hitchhiking
1987-Radio K.A.O.S
1992-Amused To Death
2005-Ca Ira(His new rock opera)

DBoons Ghost 09-16-2005 03:08 PM

Did someone ask about Waters' solo albums?

The only one worth buying is Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking.

It's very Floyd-ish in regards to the conceptual flow, and the music.

The band Roger put together is one of the best assembled. Eric Clapton, Michael Kaman, David Sanborn, Andy Newmark.. Good stuff.

Some people don't like it. I loved it though. I saw the tour and was lucky enough to catch Clapton before he quit the tour, citing that "Waters is a psychopath".

David Gilmour also released solo works. His album "About Face" is actually pretty good. Pino Palladino plays some mean fretless on that album.

Thanks, What's the best of those? I've heard a lot about Rado K.A.O.S. But that doesn't mean it was any good. :thumb:

Radio KAOS sucked.

Amused to Death is over the top lyrically, but decent musically.

Pros and Cons will make you happy.

I would like to hear that Ca Ira. Are they gonna make a live DVD of the show?

I don't know on the DVD. I'll buy Car Ira when it comes out though. I own all the other ones. Something intriguing about Roger doing opera based on the French Revolution.

I assume Roger will record the upcoming event in Rome, and maybe have that on DVD.

He better record that! It can only be good. :p

I like Amused to Death. Interesting concept and Jeff Beck has some great moments on that album.

Really? I always thought david was the one to play the fretless bass on there.

Rick with the hat looks awesome (I'm pretty sure it's Rick... either him or Mason)

Collis 09-17-2005 08:37 AM

Mason is the one with the hat, Rick is far right ... I think ... :p

Far left. Syd's on the far right.

My favorite Floyd pictures are the one with them and some friends on the beach, and them on their rugby team. They seem pretty down to earth after seeing those.

In that link I posted it had all 5 members of the Floyd. I thought that was pretty cool. How long did they stay a 5 man group?

Not very long at all.. I think they only played 2 shows like that, and after that they intended on having syd write the songs still but have gilmour perform them.

As we all know that didn't work out.

I'm kinda glad though because I absolutey LOVE "The Madcap Laughs" definately a truely amazing and underated work.

Anyone else care for it?

I have this book about Jimi Hendrix written by Mitch Mitchell and some other guy and in there Mitchell writes that they went on tour with Pink Floyd and that around the middle of the tour David Gilmour came to replace Syd at their live shows. He also wrote that Syd didn't talk to anybody on that tour (not even to his own band)...

When I read things about Syd that always kinda depresses me...

I like it a lot. Comparable to PATGOD, but not quite as good. I haven't heard Barrett, his other album though. Anyone know if that's good.

And that would have been an awesome tour with Jimi Hendrix Experience.
