I agree. Southern rock is a vague categorization. Steely Dan was classified "southern rock" in the beginning.
Don't shoot me, but I don't think that saifaction is even in the top 10 stones songs.
*cocks gun* I disagree with you I'd say its 7-10 material.

BludgeonySteve 09-21-2004 04:31 PM

I guess you're right. But it's not their best sing, or even in the top 5, whcih most people say it is.

Broken Arrow 09-21-2004 04:35 PM

I'm probably in. Want to try the Allmans vs. the Dead?

BludgeonySteve 09-21-2004 05:16 PM

How about Pink Floyd Vs. the doors?

and we should do it saturday.

Paranoidd 09-21-2004 05:23 PM
They're not a jam band.
I know that. That's why I suggested that specific song, it has jamish qualities to it.

StreetlightRock 09-21-2004 05:50 PM

The best Stones song IMO is 'get off my cloud'

love it love it love it.

DVG.

Broken Arrow 09-21-2004 05:53 PM

How about Neil Young vs. Bob Dylan

BludgeonySteve 09-21-2004 05:54 PM

^ that would be good too. Maybe we could have both debates.

Broken Arrow 09-21-2004 06:00 PM

If we do

Me:The Allmans and Neil

keep on phishin' 09-21-2004 06:04 PM

I'll do the Dead vs. allmans one

me for dead

session9 09-21-2004 06:11 PM

Apropos of nothing...all this mass debating is okay, but you feel kind of hollow afterwards...(sorry. I'll get my coat)

Broken Arrow 09-21-2004 06:13 PM

Uhhhhh you better.^

*opens door to let crazed lunitic out*

RockAndRoll 09-21-2004 06:18 PM

how do you feel hollow afterwards?

BludgeonySteve 09-21-2004 06:28 PM
If we do

Me:The Allmans and Neil
Same for me :D

BludgeonySteve 09-21-2004 06:30 PM
how do you feel hollow afterwards?
It's like when I had to debate againsted the who. I lvoe the who, I didn't want to bring out every bad point about them and stuff :(

RockAndRoll 09-21-2004 06:36 PM

best way to avoid that is either 1. Just realising you may have to say stuff you don't agree with or 2. instead saying bad stuff about ______ use positive ways of saying the band you're debating for is better. I'd go with 1.

session9 09-21-2004 06:36 PM

Whoosh!
(i.e. sound of a bad joke flying over people's uncomprehending heads)

Broken Arrow 09-21-2004 06:37 PM

I love the Who, but its win at all costs.

RockAndRoll 09-21-2004 06:39 PM
Whoosh!
(i.e. sound of a bad joke flying over people's uncomprehending heads)
If that joke is what I think it was, then that is the absolute worst joke ever! but not in the good haha it's so bad it's funny way!

session9 09-21-2004 06:42 PM

You think that's the worst ever? I've got loads that are worse than that! "Comedy Gold, Jerry!"

bedurnk 09-21-2004 06:47 PM

Since my mom likes classic rock, it's what I've been listening to for as long as I can remember. She's introduced to me to bands like The Bealtes, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and I always try to find of other bands. I'm currently reading a book about some bands that started when rock 'n' roll began to rise, but never got popular because they just had extremely bad luck and such. It came with a cd and stuff like Cleaners From Venus, John's Children, The Deviants, etc. Some other stuff that isn't popular and such. Did anyone know that Jimmy Page took the violin bow on the guitar idea from Eddie Phillips of The Creation? But yeah, Jimmy Page liked it and tried it and it worked for Zeppelin, just not for The Creation.
