Is it a Daydream show or a normal one?

Neoteric 08-22-2007 10:46 AM

Daydream show.

My friend went the other night, he said they played Daydream Nation, some of Rather Ripped and then the song Shaking Hell as an encore.

AlienEater 08-22-2007 10:51 AM

It would be good to see them play their early stuff

Confusion would be awesome live

Boilermaker 08-22-2007 10:52 AM

They played a few off Confusion when I saw them.

AlienEater 08-22-2007 11:05 AM

Cool

which ones?

Glitterati 08-22-2007 11:09 AM

Zmev I would go bowling with you but I have to go the doctor's today.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-22-2007 11:16 AM

dude I'll go bowling!

I went sometime this summer. I got like an 80, a 190, and a 94 or something.

It was weird. I'm patchy like that I guess.

superpeer 08-22-2007 11:21 AM

Bowling is expensive and I rarely go over 100. I don't have enough power, I think.

dei 08-22-2007 11:35 AM

Bowling is cheap if you at the right time.

superpeer 08-22-2007 11:37 AM

Well, I think it might be a bunch cheaper in the US.

iarescientists 08-22-2007 11:47 AM

I haven't gone in a while, but I'm pretty sure last time I did go it was like $10 for a lane, and then $5 for shoe rentals.

superpeer 08-22-2007 11:51 AM

10 for everyone or 10 per player?

iarescientists 08-22-2007 11:52 AM

per person, if i remember correctly

I just remember bringing a twenty, and that I had very little change afterwards.

superpeer 08-22-2007 11:55 AM

Well, I'd consider that pretty expensive to do frequently, but maybe I'm just poor/cheap.

iarescientists 08-22-2007 11:57 AM

Well, it was "Cosmic Bowling" where it takes place from like 10 PM to 1 AM and they turn the lights off and just have strobe lights playing and a DJ. I think it was $10 for the whole night.

but yeah, that was like 6 months ago

superpeer 08-22-2007 12:00 PM

Well if it's for the whole night and it's fancy and all, I guess that's alright. But I know when I go bowling, I'm there 2 hours maximum and spend a lot of money. And I don't even win. <-<

dei 08-22-2007 12:21 PM

My friends and I bowl on Sunday and Monday nights because it's cheap. There's an alley not too far from here that has something called Quatermania. From 8PM to midnight it's $0.50/game plus the $6.50 for the first game and shoes. IDK. We usually only spend about $8.50 each.

Hedgedive 08-22-2007 12:27 PM

So even though I'm not ready, I am playing a basement show/party on Saturday. I've got three sort of noisy, sort of space/ambient type settings that I'm preparing, but I don't know how well I'll pull them off.

sexymuffin 08-22-2007 01:13 PM

alex ugh it's noise how difficult can it be

just play with knobs for half an hour

Hedgedive 08-22-2007 01:14 PM

phaserz

perriwinkle 08-22-2007 01:17 PM

dude these kids at a GMU show played ambient / electro for half an hour playing with knobs and **** it was so ****ing bad and i wanted it to end constantly

Thanks 08-22-2007 01:22 PM
alex ugh it's noise how difficult can it be

I just really want to create a set that I would enjoy listening to. But then I sometimes forget how forgiving I can be when I'm watching a live set in which the players are at least doing something interesting or different. So I don't know, maybe it won't be as hard as I think to pull off something listenable.

Three jams are:

1. A realtime manipulation of the output from a motorized music box playing the melody from "The Way We Were" made famous by Barbra Streisand (according to my mom).

2. Feedback loops created by two toy microphones with pitchwheels hooked up to toy speakers. Feedback pitch and timbre is modulated by wheels, and by dual mic placement.

3. A tape deck feedback loop manipulated by a resonant hipass and lopass filter in parallel, and delay.

It's so avant-garde!

Eliminator 08-22-2007 01:26 PM

Sounds good.
