You're an idiot. They were doing a Metallica medley to show their respect towards them. Another reason you're an idiot is because you tryed to flame me for downloaded Metallica Icon and I said when they played Frantic it was lame. I was talking about Metallica, not Sum 41. Now go learn how to read and how to have a decent conversation with someone.

It's a great song.

Yeah, Cliff 'Em All has footage of the band when Cliff was in Metallica.

Has anybody seen the part where Kirk puts his guitar over the crowd and they take it from him, then he sends security after it?? Funny stuff.

because ever OTHER band apart from sum41 can put up exact and awsome performances of that easy song right? they tried their hardest and they were pretty good. If you're bitching about sum41 killing MOP and FWTBT, how come you haven't mentioned limp bizkit butchering Sanitarium or Avril on Fuel?

I'mhungryForASandwich 12-22-2004 10:47 PM

Why did James go to rehab? He has enough money to buy alcohol for the rest of his life.

I do, probably my favourite of Kill Em All.

... I don't he quit the booze because he couldn't pay for it. He quit because he said it was controlling him and making him a hypocrite (think MOP)

Apart from the guitar/bass tone it was actually pretty good.

Though of course my favourite part of the Icon was Snoop Dogg doing Sad But True  :p

Oh and that Zombies guy was an idiot of the highest order...

ThrashMaster27 12-23-2004 05:07 AM

I've seen one MTV Icon performance and that was Avrils. I thought it was funny seeing Lars in the crowd acting like a tit. Brightened up my day I can tell you.

And whats wrong with air double bassing?

:upset:

ThrashMaster27 12-23-2004 05:11 AM

Haha, nothing aslong as you can pull it off.

Burdcheese 12-23-2004 05:12 AM

 so true

Frobb 12-23-2004 05:20 AM

but lars, despite being a "fundamental drummer in metal history" always acts like a ****. IMHO the rest of the band had to write their songs to get around his eccentricities. the best moment i've seen was when Joey Jordison sat in Lars' throne at the download festivel UK 2004 for a set.

My favourite off kill em' all would probably be Seek & Destroy

Leatherface69 12-23-2004 07:51 AM

hey I seriously hope they don't do another record like ST. ANGER...that's just cheap new metal if you ask me. SNARE DRUMS ? 7 minutes songs without solos, that must be the weakest way to fill an album - with those third class tracks. Man I'm looking back to 91 when the Black Album came out...but I guess that record was the end of the real Metallica..LOAD sucked, RELOAD sucked, ST ANGER sucked, I hope they got their vibe back on their tour when they played their old songs...

Burdcheese 12-23-2004 08:07 AM

Black, Load and Reload were good, but I'd like to see a return to the Metallica of MOP.

Joe 12-23-2004 09:15 AM
Black, Load and Reload were good, but I'd like to see a return to the Metallica of MOP.
black was actually very good, IMO. too much wah pedal, but i liked the songs a lot. it wasn't the old metallica but it was still pretty awesome. I really want whatever the next metallica cd is to be another MOP, RTL, or AJFA

Burdcheese 12-23-2004 09:57 AM

I liked a lot of the songs on it, but for me the album as a whole never really came together properly.

I wouldn't mind a new album being like AJFA either - as long as it was well produced :p

JACKROXYOU 12-23-2004 12:33 PM

yea dont remind me of avril but man that sum singer blew. avril's cover used to keep me up at night

Burdcheese 12-23-2004 01:39 PM

I don't know why so many people complain about the Lavigne version of Fuel. The Band played it perfectly, she doesn't have too unpleasant a voice and the lyrics are far from the most important part of the song anyway.

I will however agree that I hate the voice of Sum41's singer. I'd forgotten all about it. But they did the music well.

stonecoldcrazy 12-23-2004 02:17 PM

Look Metallica Kicks All Other Bands *** easily (except IRON MAIDEN) without even the whole band for example it can be like James Hetfield Soloing Vs. All of Slipknot and yet james Will Kick their *** like nothing even happened!!!Now If it was Adrian Smith Vs. James Hetfield I would call it a tie!! you?

thats cuz slipknot isn't good. hetfield is amazing, true, but slipknot isn't good. adrian smith vs hetfield? what about hammett?

metallicamaniac16 12-23-2004 02:48 PM

Here's my little bit on mtv icon. Sum 41, while they played the music well, his voice just doesnt match James's. Korn also played most of the music well, but they cut out my favorite part of one: the ending solo. Also, I hate their vocalist's voice. I enjoyed Staind's version of Nothing Else Matters, but they cut out half of the song including the interlude, and once again, the solo. Avril Lavienge (I dont have a clue how to spell her name) would have been good if she was a guy. Her voice just didnt fit Fuel. Limp Bizkit's performance of Sanitarium, IMO, was pretty good until Fred started to try to pump up the crowd, then it turned gay. Snoop Dogg's version of Sad But True had me in a fit of laughter for about 10 minutes, and I thank him for that. Metallica kicked a** when they played Hit the Lights, Creeping Death, Blackened, and Enter Sandman. But when they played Frantic, I just didnt like it. All things considered though, I enjoyed the whole thing, because even though the bands (and rapper) werent very good, it was all in respect for one of the greatest bands in history.

hmmm i have this version of that song with no solos. and it cuts off right before the chorus before the solo. it sounds like james tho. does anyone know what it is from???

metallicamaniac16 12-23-2004 02:55 PM

I've heard several versions of what people think about Metallica's next album. While I wish I could believe that it would be a lot like MOP, I just dont think thats gonna happen. If you look at the direction they've been going in, they're starting to write grungeish, nu-metalish, sh*ttyish music. It sucks, but at least we have they're earlier albums.

metallicamaniac16 12-23-2004 03:01 PM

I just recently heard the song "Breadfan" on the radio, and I thought it was great. Does anyone know what album it's on? I wanna check it out.

Freezing Moon 12-23-2004 05:14 PM

^^^ Thanks for the tripple post.

I think that Metallica's new album will be somewhat along the lines of the black album. They have had a different style for such a long time that it would probably be difficult to make something similar to MoP. I believe that I read something saying St. Anger was an attempted "return to metal". I think that Metallica will read the reviews, etc. and realize that not many people liked it and try to end on a good note with their old fans.

As to St. Anger being
grungeish, nu-metalish, sh*ttyish music.
...
Although to most Metallica fans St. Anger was a not-so-good album, to people more into nu-metal and similar stuff it was probably a great album. As a Metallica album it was horrible. As a nu-metal album it was was probably pretty good.

Also, I'm not a huge fan of grunge, but what was "grungeish" about it?

Freezing Moon 12-23-2004 06:41 PM

Buy all of them up to the black album. If you really like it then try some of their other stuff.

Suggested order...
1. Master Of Puppets
2. Ride The Lightning
3. ...And Justice For All
4. Kill 'Em All
5. Black Album

does anyone else but me find battery, damage inc, and fight fire with fire kind of annoying?

vai61 12-23-2004 06:54 PM

I can't stand damage inc, when they came here I heard it I was like what the hell? when did they write that? I like battery and fight fire though. Fade to black is so overkilled.

I highly doubt James Hetfield could outsolo Mick Thompson. Maybe if you said Kirk Hammett, as he's the LEAD Guitarist, then I could have let you off with that one.
