How much you guys want to bet that this post goes unnoticed... (unless one of you guys reply to it, which I would be happy with)...and I ended up wasting 15-20 minutes of life?

I have nothing to say, because you covered it all! Great post man, very well thought out...

I also agree with you on all ways to give extreme metal a chance, but I started out on melodic death metal because I was clueless about death metal, and didn't know that it existed at the time.

Mekkalayakay 12-19-2004 01:34 AM

How I started out:

*DBJ IM's me

"Wahahah man, listen to Death- Without Judgement man, that shit is intense, wahaha. Hoglan is a beast man JEEZ! Insert Capital Letters, Wahaha."

Me: /downloads

*DBJ logs off

Me: /listens  This shit is freaky sounding...

/doesn't listen to death metal for about 2-3 months
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eventually, I get curious. I asked Big69 to get me into some stuff, and that's when I first started with Cryptopsy. He gave me a few songs, I thought "sounds like shit now, but maybe it'll be worth it" so then I downloaded the whole None So Vile album. After a couple weeks, I loved it to death.

The only other person I know of that started out on brutal stuff is Bartender. :-/ I guess it's a bit harder, but I wouldn't know, I still have a hard time getting into some types of melodic death.

Wewt. I am going to check out that university just for that now...

Thanks for the info man!

Mekkalayakay 12-19-2004 01:49 AM

That would be incredibly sad if he was in California (I think that's where he does a lot of his recording) recording with Gordian Knot, or any other project, the day you went there.

/prays it won't happen.

I'm in Idaho, so maybe if he's still working there when the time comes for me to check out colleges, I'll give him a visit.

Werd.

You still have a good three years left thought before college though don't ya?

Bartender 12-19-2004 02:27 AM

Sean Malone, eh.

Can I come visit you, Bobo?

Also, why did I think you lived in Norway?

Sure, why not? But I am not paying for your ticket. And better bring some booze. :p

I don't know why you thought I lived in Norway. I would love to live in Norway though, and also the fact that I am part Norwegian and Swedish is cool as well.

Bartender 12-19-2004 02:51 AM

Mmm.. prawns for breakfast.

Sean Malone's awesome, anyway. Maybe it was your being part Norwegian that confused me.

LordDargon 12-19-2004 07:46 AM

Someone gave me a rep saying "nobody likes CKY or heartagrams, idiot."

He must have mistaken me with someone else... I've seen a user called "CKY_heartagram" going around.

Oh well, it only took 9 points anyways.

EDIT: I got into death metal through Nile... the instant I heard the opening chord on The Blessed Dead, I was hooked.

How could have he mistaken you? You have no traits of a dumb HIM fan about you, your name or your avatar...

at.the.carcass.of.god 12-19-2004 09:00 AM

hey watsup, do any of you guys know a good site to get avatars?

Bartender 12-19-2004 09:04 AM

Can't help you, sorry.

There were probably just two posts next to each other, and she clicked the wrong rep button.

LordDargon 12-19-2004 11:01 AM

I need reps to make up for that -9 :(

It's about 7 degrees Farenhiet here, but the wind chill is -15.

jpj 12-19-2004 11:16 AM

It's snowing right now. I think the wind chill is like single digits.

Broken Arrow 12-19-2004 11:18 AM
It's about 7 degrees Farenhiet here, but the wind chill is -15.
Can you translate that into celsius?
Can you translate that into celsius?
No he can't because Canada sucks

Woodstock 12-19-2004 11:19 AM
Can you translate that into celsius?
Farenheit's freezing point is 32 degrees, Celsius is 0 degrees.

So, it's colder here.

Broken Arrow 12-19-2004 11:20 AM

Celsius is just so much more easier.

*gets shot by the americans*

Woodstock 12-19-2004 11:21 AM
Celsius is just so much more easier.

Yeah, the metric system and Celsius are much easier to read and are just more logical. But it would be hard for me to switch since I grew up with it.

jpj 12-19-2004 11:23 AM

What's wierd is one of the English kings started the system we use(i think), but the English use the metric system.

Metric is easier but we still weigh our selves with pounds and measure our height with feet and inches.
