What other Rhapsody of Fire release sounds most like The Frozen Tears of Angels?

Also, I know virtually no one here digs Nightwish, but I read they're recording a new album atm. Pretty excited.

Sigwulf 10-30-2010 02:47 PM

Hmm, Frozen Tears of Angels is pretty much something new. A bit of both really, a mixture between the old and new Rhapsody. But i reckon you'd like Triumph or Agony aswell than.

If you remember my previous name you would know I love Nightwish. The fact that we have to wait until like next September to get it I am not that excited yet

Morumbar 10-31-2010 04:47 AM

The Poet and the Pendulum. It's a shame that many of the users that used to post a lot more only pop up once every now and then when this thread gets bumped or something.

And I'll check out Rhapsody's Triumph or Agony, thanks.

Mother 10-31-2010 05:29 AM

I dig nightwish, although the female vocals annoy me at times (old&new). The new chick is slightly more bearable

Morumbar 11-06-2010 04:42 AM

Dude, even powermetal singers don't look that gay.

Shadows Within 11-10-2010 12:03 AM

anyone got the new Star one album? it's fucking awesome so far.

Nafizarman 11-10-2010 03:45 AM
Lol Tyler, you are gonna love the new Rhapsody single than: The Cold Embrace of Fear. I am a big Rhapsody fan and even i was falling asleep the first time. however after hearing it a few times it turned out to be awesome.
why doesn't someone here talk about Kamelot? They rock, dudes! They are the ones who even brought me to this genre. Listen to THE HAUNTING to experience.

Morumbar 11-10-2010 04:53 AM

I used to really like Kamelot, but I really don't like the vocals at all. I like The Haunting, though. The singer from Epica is pretty good.

Overall, I think The Fourth Legacy is a bit better, though.

Shadows Within 11-10-2010 09:11 AM

what is it with you people and not liking awesome vocalists? damn

Morumbar 11-10-2010 06:36 PM

Anyone here heard Helloween's new album yet? What's it like?

ArcLite 11-10-2010 07:43 PM

An improvement.

It's not album of the year material but I was a fun listen. I have to give it another toss and I may buy it, or at least a few songs. Decent album for the most part and seemed better than the last couple to me. Worth a little time to check out. When I did they were streaming the whole thing on their Myspace.

Deth 11-10-2010 11:55 PM

Strike Down is a good one

Morumbar 11-12-2010 05:48 AM

[B]BAPTISED IN FIRE

Listened to that part of the song while driving today. So awesome to sing along to.

So, anybody know a few good Rhapsody of fire, firewind, spellblast and pyramaze songs?

Morumbar 11-20-2010 10:39 AM

The whole of Rhapsody of Fire's new album, minus the guitar wankery.

Been a while since I last listened to Pyramaze.

666DiMe666 11-29-2010 03:46 PM

Does anyone else think Helloween's new album sounds a lot like Disturbed?

Morumbar 11-29-2010 03:53 PM

I still need to listen to that one.

Btw, a friend of mine just told me Malmsteen released a new album as well this year. Completely missed that. Anyway, I liked the last one, so I'm kind of curious for Relentless (the new one). It's got Tim Owens on vox as well.

Tyler 11-29-2010 03:55 PM

Tim Owens is such a pain in the ass. He'd be good if he'd tone it down a couple notches.
Tim Owens is such a pain in the ass. He'd be good if he'd tone it down a couple notches.
I feel like Charred Walls of the Damned shouldn't have sucked, yet somehow he managed to pull it off.

Tyler 11-29-2010 04:02 PM

Perfect example. Sometimes he just needs to sing normally.

Morumbar 11-29-2010 04:06 PM

He's a very hit and miss singer. One album he does is awesome and another is fucking terrible.

I didn't know Richard Christy was in a new band, though, that's cool.

EDIT: example of Tim Owens not sucking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM4CDLmDx_Y (music video is ridiculous, I know). Or: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hJGuSb_Oqk.

On a side note Jon Schaffer is a massively underrated guitar player/song writer. I pretty much love anything he touches.

Morumbar 12-01-2010 05:41 AM

Iced Earth will always have a special place in my heart. :3

I saw that they're playing at 70k Tons of Metal. Good to see that they're back in action. I'm curious if Jon has any material ready for a future release. Framing Armageddon and The Crucible of Man weren't bad or anything, but a lot of the same riffs were recycled over and over again, and I know that was because it needed to fit into the theme and the whole storyline, but it got boring after a while. I'd like to hear something fresh.

Btw, I listened to the new Helloween and yeah, I can clearly hear the Disturbed-ish sound. Didn't like it at all.

So Manowar is re-recording Battle Hymns. Guess that kinda puts a halt on their journey through every figure in Norse mythology. At least it won't be as bad as Gods of War.

Tyler 12-08-2010 11:41 PM

it's already out actually

Deth 12-08-2010 11:47 PM

I love how his reasoning for re-recording it involves current technology allowing it to be louder

Tyler 12-08-2010 11:48 PM

ugh christopher lee

Does it sound "different"?

Deth 12-08-2010 11:58 PM

all the tracks are on youtube

not worth it

666DiMe666 12-09-2010 12:02 AM

Ahh, I'll have to check em out. I don't think it's been officially released yet. At least their website doesn't start shipping them out til Tuesday.

Weird, Amazon says it comes out February 1st.

Deth 12-09-2010 12:04 AM

Full-length, Magic Circle Music
November 26th, 2010

amazing how eric's voice has held up though, he has to be pushing 50 at this point

Tyler 12-09-2010 12:06 AM

It's out digitally, they're spreading it in a few different formats over a few months. Hopefully this re-release means they'll tour it and do Battle Hymns front to back.

Deth 12-09-2010 12:09 AM

the last tour of north america I think was like 6 years ago I think, hopefully they do a few dates

Yeah, it's only released as a digital download atm, you can't actually hold the power in your hands til February.

The power of true metal is impervious to the hands of time.

Morumbar 12-09-2010 09:31 AM
ugh christopher lee
Dude, Christopher Lee kicks ass.

And yeah, Eric's still got it. One of my favourite power metal singers.

Tyler 12-09-2010 11:47 AM

Christopher Lee sucks ass, at least in terms of music he's involved with. He went from a cool little novelty to an irritating old man that won't go away.
