not me before now, lol guitarists are usually either good guys and they suck, or insane and completely wanks..i got the better of both..and then i get boned with a ***-bass and a crap ferret vocalist

Jomofo 09-07-2005 07:41 PM

Haha, sounds like it's good to be rid of your band then.

styler 09-07-2005 07:42 PM

i would discuss..but im not hardcore into music right now...just drumming...you know..just like..the drum tracks...videos..technique and stuff..etc etc...my band made it so i lost all my technique speed and control etc

styler 09-07-2005 07:44 PM

the guitarist is making me discuss why i wanna leave..god the awkwardness, why did they have to get the guy i can stand to talk to me about this..why cant it be the ferret..or the *** even...i could stand telling THEM off...

billdrum 09-07-2005 07:45 PM
We have big games with about 400 people.. 200 people per team ;)
Wow, that's alot of people. How much land do you use?

billdrum 09-07-2005 07:46 PM

We use the whole space for the big capture the flag game and different sections of it for other battles.

Band drama is the terrible. Our bass player recently came back to our band begging for a position because the band he left us for broke up. It would have been easier if he didn't go out burning bridges left and right, but oh well. He apologized and stuff, so it's good now.

Anyway, just tell him that the band is much to hard to practice with, and it's not worth all the stress because there is no real pay off.

styler 09-07-2005 07:48 PM

ahh that makes sense, capture the flag would be fun in a big wooded area..is it like a public wooded area or would there be wildlife...like animals?

billdrum 09-07-2005 07:50 PM

It's private property with a small lake and a cabin. You can run across deer there and small creatures. I usually go out the night before and stay over, beer, cookout, etc. It's alot of fun.

styler 09-07-2005 07:52 PM

meh its not like i dont enjoy playing with them we do actually play, its the abuse i suppose, a drummer can only take so much :P and i wanna keep my technique, so i cant compromise it for a high school band.

i cant even remember the last time i went camping (never been) or had a cookout (last summer) or been drunk in any way...(a long long time ago..)

I've been without a band for going on 9 months now, longest stretch in years. I'm picky about who I play with and it's really hard sometimes finding the right mix of personalities and musicianship. I'm working with a St. Louis area singer/songwriter on putting something together, but we haven't found the right guitarist yet.

styler 09-07-2005 07:58 PM

hope that works out bill, *uses all mind power to force good guitarist to bill*

billdrum 09-07-2005 08:01 PM

Me too! We (the singer, bass player and I) jammed last weekend with a really good player (and nice guy too). It went really well and he picked up the originals quickly. I'm just not sure if he's able to make the commitment. It's still up in the air.

skadrummer411 09-07-2005 08:03 PM
^^ Type in paragraphs next time, that way the person whos reading it feels like they are getting some where.

Don't even bother with arguements like that. That is like the story of every single stereo typical greasy teenage music freak in America and more devloped parts of the world.

You have to take a Jewish appraoch to these things and just realize not everyone is going to like your opinions so stop trying to make people like them and keep to yourself. Just laugh at them cause their music sucks to you and leave them alone unless they instigate.

Ska is good stuff though, its good to see atleast one other person on mxdp likes it. You ever heard of the Skoidats? They have a pretty good drummer for a ska band too.
Thanks for the advice man. I will type in paragraphs next time. And I should know better to even argue with those people about music and stuff, you never get anywhere.

I never have heard of the skoidats, I'll have to look them up. If you've never heard of streetlight you have to hear them, there drummer is awesome. Another band that I started to get into more is Big D and the Kids Table, I like their style, plus they remind me of one of our local ska bands.

styler 09-07-2005 08:07 PM

that sounds like a sweet deal bill, i cant stand people who cant commit to anything, doesnt even have to be the band, just anything in general, if i cant trust them outside the band i cant trust them in it..lol

Futuro 09-07-2005 08:22 PM

i am the same way, i told my freind i was going to help him work on the chasis of his car saturday at 10 in the morning.

im there and its 10:00 he isnt there. So i waited alittle longer by 10:20 i was pissed (short temper) i called him up and said "where are you"? he said, "at my house". i said "well why the *fill in with four letter word* did you tell me to be here, when your an *azzhole* and dont have the commonm courtesy to call, you know what man? you are a piece of *fill in with a four letter word*" then i hung up on him.

stuff like that will really piss me off...

Jomofo 09-07-2005 08:24 PM

^I agree. I have a small amount of patience for things like that. If you say you're going to do something at some time, do it, and at the time you said.. It happens with my friends alot, and it bugs me.

poppinfresh 09-07-2005 08:50 PM

faith=1 im the same way. I hate it when people do that and it pisses me off because i always try to get everywhere on time when i tell poeple im going to meet them somewhere but tehy are never the same.

billdrum- what kind of stuff are oyu playing with the band?

styler 09-07-2005 08:52 PM

im like that with everything except for school..but thats because im bad with buses

<i missed another set of buses today>

Jomofo 09-07-2005 08:56 PM

^haha, yeah. The bus sucks.

billdrum 09-07-2005 09:02 PM
billdrum- what kind of stuff are oyu playing with the band?
The stuff he writes is very Eagles/Poco influenced, kind of light rock I guess. He's got about 12 originals that we've learned and more on the way. He's pretty serious, has an agent in Nashville pushing his songs with major artists. We're looking to play in the Missouri/Illinois/Iowa areas adding some covers in to fill out the sets.

Jomofo 09-07-2005 09:05 PM

I like the Eagles. Hotel California (but of course) is one of my all time favourites.

Win A Rabbit 09-07-2005 09:05 PM

well i just bought a keyboard for $50, i was amazed to find a decent one for under $100 at a pawn shop. this one has more than i even wanted for a keyboard. now i can start practicing piano without waiting for everyone else to leave the house and cutting into my drumming time. now i can plug in at night, turn the volume down (or even use earphones) and it's got like 50 drum beats to play along with.

and my friend bought some drums too, which is cool.

Jomofo 09-07-2005 09:07 PM

I want to learn piano really bad. It's such a useful instrument to know. I was considering picking up a keyboard at a pawn shop as well, but I couldn't find anything decent.

styler 09-07-2005 09:12 PM

bill, whats poco?im curious cuz where i live is called poco
lol

short for port coquitlam for anybody whos curious

billdrum 09-07-2005 09:17 PM

Poco was around in the 70's mostly I think. One or two members of the Eagles came out of that band. They had a couple of hits, but were largely under the radar.
Surely we've got some paintballers here! I just got my notice of our Fall "war" this October-two teams of 35-40 people each, daylong event with 5 different war games on 90 wooded acres (and we use all of it!). We do this every Spring and Fall.
Wooo, yeah! It ranks up there with drumming, when I am actually able to go though.

I missed my fields scenario this year. I was at the lsat two, they're so halairous and fun.

I would consider myself more of a tournament player though.

Massik Kretal 09-07-2005 09:29 PM

Hey guys...

Someone got banned becuase there friend is an idiot and he cant make a new name becuase it gets messed up. He wants his old name Trilobite unbanned and his name D41LYBR34Dm4n removed. He didnt do anything bad and I think that he should be unbanned not that I know much about him.
