I really like it. At first I thought it was meh as well, but i guess it grew on me.

eug009 07-28-2006 08:53 PM

Youth isn't bad, I liked quite a few tracks on that CD

pate 07-29-2006 12:06 AM

It's a damn fine album.

Nepenthe 07-29-2006 04:53 AM

A Tout Le Monde, Elysian Fields, and Reckoning Day are some of my favorite Megadeth tracks.

Chu 07-29-2006 08:16 AM
I guess Risk was good for the genre but TWNAH was just bland and uninteresting
Dread and The Fugitive Mind?! When?!
Nope, I do too.
Speed ftw;

Jev 07-29-2006 11:33 AM

Indeed. Shred suits Megadeth well.

DATFM, Return To Hangar were good and Moto Psycho was OK but the other 8 or so tracks were just pretty much shit. The solo's were pretty cool tho (Moto Pshyco and RTH)

Nepenthe 07-29-2006 08:22 PM

Dread And The Fugitive Mind is an excellent song.

Daven 07-29-2006 08:22 PM

My band can play that song! :)

Chu 07-29-2006 10:15 PM

Same. First Megadeth song I learnt fully

eug009 07-29-2006 10:31 PM

Peace Sells was the first Megadeth song my band played

Apocalyptic Raids 07-29-2006 10:32 PM

First Deth song I learnt would have been Peace Sells.

FatalEnergy 07-29-2006 10:33 PM

You wussies!:p

My band plays around with The Conjuring a bit, and that's fun.

The first 'Deth song I think I learned was Last Rites/Loved To Deth

heavy metal kid 07-29-2006 10:38 PM

My band plays Take No Prisoners  , but some of the riffs sound pretty sloppy.

The first Megadeth song I learned was Peace Sells.
The first Megadeth song that I learned and considered it a real challenge was My Last Words.

btw, I play bass.

I play bass too. In My Last Words, Ellefson does a lot of strange bass runs and stuff during the "You! Next to Die!" part that I still can't figure out by ear. There's no bass tab for Skull Beneath the Skin, and he has a lot of bass fills in that song that hard to get.

heavy metal kid 07-29-2006 10:49 PM

That was one of the main reasons why I considered My Last Words a challenge, when MXtabs was up, there was a tab for MLW I learned and then eliminated the erronneous lines.

Then, when I got the Guitar Pro I downloaded the MLW tab and combined it with the MX tab, the rest was pure ear because both tabs had the verse wrong.

I still don't know if it is 100% right, but I play it along with the song and fits perfectly.

FatalEnergy 07-29-2006 10:55 PM

There's a bootleg from '84 with Kerry King on it, and Mustaine and Ellefson do this little instrumental called Quicksand, and I've really been wondering how it's played, but the quality is so bad I don't even want to try to learn it by ear. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

eug009 07-29-2006 10:57 PM

Could you up it?

FatalEnergy 07-29-2006 11:00 PM

My friend borrowed the CD. I forgot that he still has it. Once I get it back I'll put it up.

eug009 07-29-2006 11:41 PM

Sounds great thanks

FatalEnergy 07-29-2006 11:42 PM

It's strange though, because it really sounds just like a bunch of chromatic scales. Although very, very fast.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-29-2006 11:43 PM
It's strange though, because it really sounds just like a bunch of chromatic scales.
Well, Kerry King was involved after all.

pate 07-30-2006 12:18 AM

Q: What does Araya yell before the solo in Expendible Youth?

A: KERRY, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

We are so lucky that Kerry never joined Megadeth.

eug009 07-30-2006 02:31 AM

 Agreed, Megadeth solo's would just be complete crap

FatalEnergy 07-30-2006 02:32 AM

Imagine Hangar 18 with Kerry King.

That would be painful.

blue3 07-30-2006 03:29 AM

haha.. yeah. I saw this top 10 guitarists show on Much More Music yesterday and Dave was 3rd and they played the Hangar 18 video.

Nepenthe 07-30-2006 03:31 AM

Hangar 18 with Kerry King would sound like a fight between a cat and a guitar. It would give you a ****ing headache.

eug009 07-30-2006 03:33 AM

Thats a pretty killer video, Marty's solos are a million times better than Dave's solos tho

blue3 07-30-2006 03:35 AM

Yeah, but it was a viewers choice list, so more voted for Dave, I guess.

Nepenthe 07-30-2006 03:36 AM

Well, Dave's rhythm playing is 5 times better than Marty's.

Dave Mustains top 10 metal bands.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-30-2006 04:25 AM

Nice list.

I was expecting Mercyful Fate and maybe Diamond Head there, though.

heavy metal kid 07-30-2006 04:28 AM

I couldn't see it, what bands are on the list?

Nah, Mercyful Fate is a Lars Ulrich favorite, not a Mustaine favorite, besides MF could be a bit "Satanic" for Dave.

Chu 07-30-2006 04:28 AM
Well, Dave's rhythm playing is 5 times better than Marty's.
There aren't many people who can hold anything to Mustaine's rhythm in my opinion... :p

Maybe John Petrucci...
http://www.forums.megadeth.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=141544&stc=1&d=1153664 886

Dave Mustains top 10 metal bands.
Can you just post the list here? *Not a member of Megadeth forums :p

blue3 07-30-2006 04:33 AM

I'm not a member either.

eug008 07-30-2006 04:39 AM

1. Led Zeppelin
2. AC/DC
3. Judas Priest
4. Iron Madien
5. Black Sabbath
6. Metallica
7. Megadeth
8. Anthrax
9. Slayer
10. Pantera

Whats with Metalica being there? And whats with Slayer and Pantera there aswell, I thought they hated him???

heavy metal kid 07-30-2006 04:41 AM

Dave Mustaine HAD issues with Metallica and Slayer, but he always had massive respect and admiration to the rest of the Big Four of thrash.

I'm kind of dissapointed with that list, if he was on MX he would be bashed till no end. Not that the list is bad, but all those bands are overrated.

Mother 07-30-2006 04:46 AM

Oshi .. sorry guys I did'nt know you had to be a member.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-30-2006 05:35 AM
Maybe John Petrucci...
His rhythm playing? :-\

Chu 07-30-2006 06:49 AM

Yes, his rhythm playing... Is there something weird with that?

I love his Lead work, but his rhythm really shines to me (Same with Mustaine actually).
