I can't go to the Virginia show in feburary

also today is my birthday and I was thinking about getting Lamentations with the money I got, whats the setlist?
Try getting it on Amazon if possible. I got it for 8 bucks and it is an amazing DVD. Have a Good Birthday! :chug:

Shadius 01-05-2006 05:28 PM
Eh, mostly soft songs, but I think i'll get it anyway. Thanks.
Yeah, it's a DVD supporting the Damnation album, plus showing a little of their heavier side. There's also nothing older than Blackwater Park on it.

Darkness 01-05-2006 05:42 PM
I have a signed GR shirt. :naughty:
Me to. :D Along with a signed setlist.

MidnightRider 01-05-2006 05:45 PM
Me to. :D Along with a signed setlist.
Damn you and all your Opeth signed rubbish!

/is jealous

Darkness 01-05-2006 05:49 PM

Yeah when they were doing the signing, I got back in line like, 3 times. :D

Mikeal said to me "back for me are we?".

MidnightRider 01-05-2006 05:56 PM

:) Mikael sounds hilarious. I need to go to one of their gigs really bad.

Darkness 01-05-2006 05:59 PM

He also talked about getting wasted at West Edmonton Mall the day before.

And right before Demon Of The fall, he's like, "It's time for some real death metal! no more of this pussy shit!" (after playing Deliverance, the Grand Conjuration, and To Rid the Desiease)

MidnightRider 01-05-2006 06:03 PM

 That's great. I've heard that when they first started touring, Mikael would get up to the mike and say, "We are Opeth," and nothing else.

Darkness 01-05-2006 06:05 PM

Anybody know why Jude was banned?

Probably for likeing those crappy vocals in Bleak...

MidnightRider 01-05-2006 06:18 PM

Maybe for this?

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=430628

I don't know though, I haven't been here long, so I'm not sure what would merit getting banned.

TojesDolan 01-05-2006 06:18 PM

Wait why in the whole wide world did my Opeth "Ghost Reveries" copy doesn't have the name of the album, or the name of the band??

The european must be the one with the name and all. Friggin' europeans and their PAL.

Darkness 01-05-2006 06:36 PM

Mine doesn't have it either.

Shadius 01-05-2006 06:57 PM

Mine has the name and track's on my CD player, it's the only CD I have that does that.

Darkness 01-05-2006 07:57 PM

I thought he ment on the front cover...

Shadius 01-05-2006 08:10 PM

He probably did.

I didn't know what he was talking about though, and it reminded me that the Ghost Reveries CD has the track names and stuff built into the CD, rather than having to search for them online or whatever (Or in the case of CD players, it actually shows the tracknames).

Mine's PAL (well I assume it is, since I'm in Australia) and it doesn't have the name or title on the cover, if that's what you're on about.

Killtacular 01-05-2006 10:32 PM

The copies around here have the band name and album name on the front.

MidnightRider 01-05-2006 11:11 PM

Yeah scruples, Tennessee is just good like that.

/fellow Tennessean

Emperor 01-06-2006 01:32 AM

Opeth is one my favourite bands and I have most of their CDs. I was worried that their new CD Ghost Reveries wouldn't be that good but thankfully I was wrong. I just wish they would play a show close enough to my town so I could see them live.

TojesDolan 01-06-2006 01:37 AM
Mine's PAL (well I assume it is, since I'm in Australia) and it doesn't have the name or title on the cover, if that's what you're on about.
No, I think PAL is Europe exclusive, and it's a TV system thing actually.

And yes I meant the booklet thing. Mine had a sticker and that's it.

guitar_face 01-06-2006 02:53 AM

Shockingly enough, Opeth are coming to NZ! woot! I'm there.

Australian console games are PAL. Maybe it's different... I don't even think they have regions for CD's.

Mine, as well, just had a sticker that was quickly removed with my l337 sticka remooving skillzorz.

LOL. No, I was banned for spamming up some retarded Pit thread. Someone in PNWI thought Trilemma banned me for pointing out that his views on Israel/Palestine are about as valid as Pat Robertson's views on anything

Anyway, I'm distressed to find that the closest Opeth gig to my college (where I'll be in Feb) is all the way on the opposite end of the state of Virginia, probably about 3 hours away :upset: I'm going to have a helluva time getting a ride to that. Most likely I won't make it :(

Darkness 01-06-2006 10:15 AM

Oh ok.

Was that when you were like "Spam this thread" or something to that effect in big letters? How long are you gone for?

Well, there was one where I put "I NUT ON UR MOTHER" in size 7 font or something, but I think the one I got banned for was where I just put 'everyone spam this thread.'

Ban ends tomorrow at 6.

Mambuto_O'Mally 01-06-2006 05:32 PM

I've only heard MAYH so far and I love it. What do you recommend for the next one to get?

Darkness 01-06-2006 05:34 PM

Still Life and Blackwater Park. :p

You said that nut on ur face thing to me to.

Darkness 01-06-2006 07:16 PM

Sorry for double post, but I felt that saying that there are more tour dates on Opeths web site was worth it, so go check them out!

Rounder 01-06-2006 07:19 PM

hey me and my bro are thinking about maybe covering bleak. I found a good powertab, but some of the parts are wrong. In the 'devious movements' part, after the bmin chord, the power tab has both guitars playing an f#min octave, when there is clearly a chord there. and some other important things. Anyone know either a great tab or just know what goes there? there are so many guitars in that song its hard to distinguish chords from harmony parts.

if anyone has a drum midi or know where one is of bleak, i would appreciate it. Matter records his drums after I have my guitars down, and I would like something more than a click track to get a good feel of the song, and my midi cable broke so its too hard to use dkfh without a keyboard

Toaster 01-07-2006 08:22 AM

Sorry, I don't have any drum midis for Bleak. Did you actually buy DKFH though?

suspect 01-07-2006 08:56 AM

Fuck me, the heavy part that comes in around 5:14 in Blackwater Park is just awesome. I've had that song on repeat for two days now. Now that's drop D done properly.

Ghost Of Perdition 01-07-2006 09:42 AM

Hell yeah man, they work wonders with D.
Same with The Grand Conjuration.

I love thier guitars too, always wanted a PRS, they make them sound so ****ing perfect!

Ghost Of Perdition 01-07-2006 10:22 AM

Ditto :)

Their use of harmonics is untrue also, such a great ear for music.
They're def one of the few bands that actually play what they most enjoy, not what the industry is going to prefer.

Bastage.

How do they play the acoustic parts of different songs live though, with only 2 guitars?

The Grand Conjuration has a great Drop D riff pattern in it...harmonic minors rule.

EDIT: Oh, NOW it's all ages when the goddamn concert is 6 hours away from my house.

Shattered_Future 01-07-2006 04:01 PM

I know...it's got 3 of my favorite artists/people too.  :(

**** you Webster Hall, stupid 18+ requirement.

MidnightRider 01-07-2006 04:31 PM

 I feel for ya man.
