Oh my God. I'm so afraid of you. The quality is poor, but the vocals are absolutely insaaane!! Lowest growls ever.

Shadows 11-05-2005 12:04 PM

Yeah, and how about those MONSTER DRUMS!!!????

:p

NP: Fragments of Unbecoming - Shapes of the Persuers (AWESOME melodic death)

Shattered_Future 11-05-2005 12:05 PM

Yes, that's what a $40 dollar voice recorder mike gets you when you attempt to record guitar with it. :p

Thanks. I've never attempted growling along to a song before that.

I'm not even saying any lyrics...no lyrics. Just mindless rambling and incoherent nonsense syllables.

Bah, the drums suck more than a hooker you paid for for an hour.

:p

Just kidding. Drums were spot on, given the circumstances...

Shadows 11-05-2005 12:10 PM

Aw man...I'm so sorry. I did the best I could, but I don't know what I was thinking towards the end. :upset: I don't think it was that bad anyway.

Shattered_Future 11-05-2005 12:14 PM

Dude. Relax.

Drums were fine. Don't worry about it...lots of people liked the drums.

I'm gonna see if I can rerecord the song with a metronome, and better vocals. After I finish my next project, that is...epic doom metal. :D

Toaster 11-05-2005 12:49 PM

I thought the drums were good. I bit quiet, though. Try recording guitars directly from your amp's line out.

Shattered_Future 11-05-2005 12:51 PM

????

I don't know what you're talking about...:upset:

I just hang the mike in front of the amp speaker. It works, just not very well.

I could always try recording at my friend's house...we have a couple of ways to do that.

1. Put the amp on the other side of the room, wrap his $5 Radioshack mike in a bandanna and place it under a pillow, make everything quiet as possible, and attempt to record. That thing distorts SO easily, yet gets really nice recording tone.

2. Record directly into Audacity with his Eyetoy. :p

Is there a chord that goes from guitar amp to computer?

BTW, your avatar rocks balls.

Shadows 11-05-2005 12:54 PM

I record through a mic in my computer into Audacity. For $15, it's unbelievable how clear the sound is.

Toaster 11-05-2005 12:55 PM

Most amps have either a line out, or a headphone jack. Get your cable, plug it into either jack and put that into whatever you record with (4-track, Audacity, whatever). Then you don't have to worry about line distortion, and you will get the tone that comes directly from your preamp. You don't have to contend with volume levels, mic distortion, positioning or any of that crap.

Yes, it's the cable with a 1/4 inch jack on one end and a small jack (for lack of a better term) on the other. Just plug it right into your computer's mic plug.

And thanks, yours is sweet too. Nile all the way.

Shattered_Future 11-05-2005 12:57 PM

Bah, I see no line out...I use an old school Mesa Boogie amp for my guitar. All I see on the front is Input and Foot Switch.

Maybe I'll try that, though, if I find one...my recorder has a plug where you can plug in another mike, which I do. However, its a standard headphone jack. :upset:

Themadhatter 11-05-2005 04:28 PM

I just picked up Are You Dead Yet for $11, and I'm really loving it. I haven't gotten all the way through yet, but so far my favorite song is If You Want Peace, Prepare For War.

Shadows 11-05-2005 04:34 PM

That, the title track, and Bastards of Bodom are my favorites.

Mr. Squiggles 11-05-2005 04:56 PM
That, the title track, and Bastards of Bodom are my favorites.
I just heard Bastards of Bodom for the first time today... That song kicks ***!!

dest. Chaos 11-05-2005 06:29 PM
I can't scream or growl for shit, which means I'll never be a metal vocalist. :( I'm not that bad of a singer though, so that's a plus. Maybe I'll do backing vox one day.
meh... if you can't do scream or growl stuff how do you know it's different techniques used for Alexi's kind of singing and screams? :P

Shadows 11-05-2005 07:12 PM

Because it sounds different. It's that simple. It all sounds completely different and he obviously uses different techniques. Why do you keep arguing this?

Matas 11-05-2005 07:31 PM

that song, as well as We're Not Gonna Fall and Trashed Lost & Strungout are the 3 songs that still sound the most like good old cob, imo.

some of the other songs are good, but no matter how much i think of this as a ''new completely different release'' and/ or not comparing it to old stuff, i just cant dig this is much as i thought i would :(

because you're wrong...
because you're wrong...
No. Try singing. Then try screaming. It's two completely different things.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-05-2005 07:47 PM

I like Trashed, Lost & Strungout best of the new album. Overall I'm not a huge fan of the album, but the new songs are very good live.

Shadows 11-05-2005 07:48 PM

Have you seen them live?

I'm going next week, finally.

dest. Chaos 11-05-2005 07:50 PM

not when using Alexi's style of singing...

Shadows 11-05-2005 07:52 PM
not when using Alexi's style of singing...
Sure, not in his style of singing. In the new album, his singing and screaming aren't far apart. They're almost identical, actually. But in the old stuff his scream was a high shriek similar to black metal and was in no way similar to actual singing.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-05-2005 07:54 PM

Yeah, I saw them on Oct. 2 (First show on the world tour ) They played Are You Dead Yet? and In Your Face. It was suprising there was only two tracks the the new album.

It was funny, because Alexi goes "So do you guys like the new album?" and everyone cheers. Then later he goes "err we didn't know the album hadn't been released here yet... so uhh we won't play heaps and heaps off it"

I also picked up a nice shirt with 'CoB' on the front and 'Are You Dead Yet?' in big letters on the back.

Alexi's old vocals are much better :) .. Hatebreeder has the best vocals :P.

Indeed, I like his vocals on Hatebreeder more than anything else.

 that's damn funny. Lucky for me I get to see many new songs because the album's been released here, so it should be energetic.

I will of course be getting myself one of those shirts. I'll buy it and wear it over my Follow the Reaper shirt, which I will be wearing to the show.

fanboyism++
