I'm not a huge fan anymore. I used to be. Now i'm a casual fan.
Badmoon 09-20-2004 02:59 PM
Thanks man. I'll see if my dad has that one.
That'd be extremely unlikely.

RockAndRoll 09-20-2004 03:28 PM

hey, has anyone else heard the yeller (yellow) dog story?

Broken Arrow 09-20-2004 03:32 PM

no, what is it??

jpj 09-20-2004 03:32 PM

no, please tell

RockAndRoll 09-20-2004 03:36 PM

it's just a story (with background music) that the dead told at one (maybe more) of their concerts to stall for time when they broke a string.

BludgeonySteve 09-20-2004 04:07 PM

I heard some song/story about a guy who litters and gets arrested, and his crazyness and all. It sounded like garcia's voice, maybe that ws it.

themightyquinn23 09-20-2004 05:30 PM
How the **** can you hate his voice? He is the Frank Sinatra of metal. (The only one that actually sings)
Danzig has a great voice, but the music is not too great.

BludgeonySteve 09-20-2004 05:33 PM

We've never mentioned Bruce Springsteen . Am I the only Springsteen fan here?

MalcolmYoungRock 09-20-2004 05:36 PM

I don't really listen to much of his stuff :upset:

I hear good things about it though.

RockAndRoll 09-20-2004 06:59 PM
I heard some song/story about a guy who litters and gets arrested, and his crazyness and all. It sounded like garcia's voice, maybe that ws it.
nope, this story has everything to do with a yellow dog and nothing to do with a littering man who gets arrested.

BludgeonySteve 09-20-2004 07:00 PM

k then

RockAndRoll 09-20-2004 07:02 PM
k then
It's very possible that it's only on the album I have with it (Europe 72)

slowhand 09-21-2004 12:48 PM
I knew both of those! They called him that cause he was the expert of slowhand guitar! That feels good! :thumb:

EDIT because don't want a triple post:

I like blues rock and prog rock the best. Also I'm in the chatroom.
That's weird? What do you mean with 'slowhand guitar'?

The story I know about the 'slowhand' name comes from when early on in his career as a proffesional guitarist, he used to break guitar strings because he bent the strings too hard. So, while he was changing the strings, the audience used to do a "slow hand-clap." Or at least that's what it says in this biography.

And before I go, a random rock fact.

During the 24 months (2 years) life-span of Cream, people bought more of their albums than the Bible in the last 24 years. Impressive.

shadow_stalker 09-21-2004 12:51 PM

well to be fair you can just steal a bible from church also it cant be a very riviting read!

are there actually all that many proper rock bands left?

Paranoidd 09-21-2004 01:01 PM

I'm talking about how he didn't do supreme wankage, and didn't need to be as fast as possible to get people to like his music, like blues. He played slow and still was amazing. This is from a Cream dvd I bought.

Well if you only like certain bands, thats one thing.

There are many, many bands in all genres making great music right now.

Paranoidd 09-21-2004 01:32 PM

All you guys that like jam bands, I demand that you download this song:

The Stone Roses - Daybreak

pskov 09-21-2004 01:38 PM

Would you not call Queens Of The Stone Age or Foo Fighters rock bands? If they aren't then I guess 'rock' isn't 'rock' anymore.

Would this DVD be, by any chance, Strange Brew?

Paranoidd 09-21-2004 01:52 PM

Queens are one of the best around, Foo Fighters blow.

I've never heard Ian's solo stuff. I never meet anyone who likes the Stone Roses. Most people never even heard of them.

Broken Arrow 09-21-2004 02:12 PM

I've never heard of the Stone Roses. Who do they sound like??

Or do they have an original sound??

Interstate 09-21-2004 02:19 PM

yeah i love classic rock - some of the stuff i like:

The Beatles
AC/DC
Van Halen
Deep Purple
Thin Lizzy
Black Sabbath
Motley Crue
Judas Priest

etc....

Broken Arrow 09-21-2004 02:20 PM

Sweet man, your the best :thumb:

I dont think Priest and Motley Crue count as classic rock

Paranoidd 09-21-2004 02:20 PM

They were an early 90's brit rock band. They pretty much inspired Oasis (well, Liam decided he wanted to be a singer after hearing them). They also did a great job of combining some electronic sounds as well. Their styles vary widely...

If I had to recommend a couple songs off the top of my head, I'd say Daybreak and Driving South. The guitar work is excellent. Their bass player, Mani Moufield (one of my favs), went to play with Primal Scream after the stone roses broke up. He's a killer player too.

Broken Arrow 09-21-2004 02:22 PM

I will check them out thanks^
