Ah, I didn't use a tab for this.. You're right

YouGottaBeCrazy 06-19-2005 07:27 AM
Does anyone know anything about the next tool album? I have only heard a couple of rumors.
Nah, there isn't really that much information yet that we know of. All that I think is known is that they are recording it now (and probably almost done) so it should be out by the end of the year, there's a 17 minute long song on the album I think, they said something about being influenced by bands like Meshuggah and Fantomas so the drumming will probably be a bit more intense and maybe the songs will be heavier too. Hmm, I can't really think of what else. Tool really likes to keep things behind closed doors.

clearvision 06-19-2005 07:42 AM

I just jammed out lateralus, how is my tone? I thinki could lose a ittle reverb/whatever it is on the clean sound, and i gotta try and get the high open D (3rd string) to ring out after the pull off.

Here y'are

kurrpt 06-19-2005 09:29 AM

ive only learned the first 2 minutes of the song :upset:
i havent learned a new song in forever

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-19-2005 01:00 PM

did you get banned again, Kurrpt?

Last night before I went to bed, I played the best 17 minute set EVER! I opened up my media player, and jammed along to Ticks and Leeches, and then, Lateralus came on, and so I played along. It was glorious. That would be the most kickass cover ever.

Rob, how long've you been playing?

And Merkaba, did you sing along with the original, or did you use a backing track of any sort?

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-19-2005 01:13 PM
Thats pretty cool

this riff here

You play the 7-5-3 bit when you're meant to play the 0-0-0

New tone is cool, i may have a go at this in a sec...
I find it easier to play it like open A, then 5-3-0. There's no shifting that way. :) It sounds the same, but I find it easier.

clearvision 06-19-2005 01:48 PM

I have been playing 2 and a half years...

But for the first year it wasn't something i did often.

What was the tone like? The distorted tone may be a little too trbly with too much gain. And the clean has too much reverb...thoughts?

Lateralias 06-19-2005 01:49 PM

Wow I love that "the Patient" cover... it's dead on accurate!

Cannonball Jake 06-19-2005 01:52 PM
... they said something about being influenced by bands like Meshuggah and Fantomas so the drumming will probably be a bit more intense and maybe the songs will be heavier too. ...
Man I hope that's true. That would be awesome but would move Tool even further away from the Aenima style anthems so they might see sales drop. They probably wouldn't care though.

Merkaba 06-19-2005 01:54 PM

I'm uploading stinkfist now...Im gonna check out that patient instrumental. Is it downloadable?...and what other stuff is done? I was at the MarkMatter site and I couldnt download the 46 and 2...only stream it. So....

clearvision 06-19-2005 02:00 PM

I have aenima recorded, it's a little sloppy, but i will correct it. If you would like to do vocals download this file. And record your tracks along with it... :)

SmashingPumpkin 06-19-2005 02:13 PM

Ah Tool is one of my favorite bands ever. Anyone else signed up for the toolshed? I'm CrownOfNegativity over there.

Merkaba 06-19-2005 02:28 PM

Nope...cant download the patient...anyone know of any way around this so i can get it on my comp in mp3 format? I can only stream it

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-19-2005 02:37 PM

You can download 46&2 from their soundclick, but you can only stream The Patient.

Smashing Pumpkin-I just signed up yesterday. Same user name as here, same avatar too. I'm a level 2 poster already.

Merkaba- Did you sing Stinkfist along with the original to pace your self, or what?

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-19-2005 03:08 PM

I hate to double post, but since this thread seems dead, let's get off the topic of the covers and talk about other Tool stuff. What's your guys' favorite Jones feedback? I'd have to say the intro to Sober is amazing. The way he controls it is amazing.

Magicaltroll 06-19-2005 03:12 PM

Triad.
It's amazing, the sounds he gets and all the notes and stuff. Sweet.

Adam Jones is GOD 06-19-2005 03:51 PM

I agree with Triad, although I dont really have a favourite moment, each has its own charm. Is also great he doesnt need to rely on the garage band style of getting near the amp for his feedback, he controls it all with his feet.

And back on the cover thingy, I sorted out the soundclick file that Jake set up. I put up the two most complete songs for you to hear and work on. But keep sending the individual tracks through this thread first.

clearvision 06-19-2005 04:00 PM

Who did the lateralus, no vox?

Adam Jones is GOD 06-19-2005 04:01 PM

I dont actually remember. I just recall downloading it from here after getting Faith's drum track.

Im sure somebody will come forward and accept that they're awesome

Magicaltroll 06-19-2005 04:02 PM

Hey AJIG, your computer ok yet?
Or can you not upload that song today?

It's cool either way.

clearvision 06-19-2005 04:04 PM

Ehh it wasn't that dude that just randomly posted for the 1st time was it?

No-one commented on my tone, was it really that bad?

Adam Jones is GOD 06-19-2005 04:08 PM
Hey AJIG, your computer ok yet?

Sorry, no can do. I've had multiple crashes today, so if anything its worse. I blame the heat. I will do it as soon as I can though, or you could ask someone else who d/l'd it first time around

Plus its 11 here, and I need my beauty sleep before my job malarky tommorrow.

And Rob, your clean tone was awesome, original yet effective. Your distortion tone is better than your other examples, but its cut in volume doesnt tie in well with your clean, which affects it a lot.

Merkaba 06-19-2005 04:16 PM

Ok..I'll get that 46 and two.

I just downloaded the stinkfist off of the site...and played it through my speakers and sang along with it...not the best option. My headphones wouldnt reach from the comp under the table up to my mic. Thats how i like to record vocals. But oh well.

Neurotoxin 06-19-2005 06:44 PM

Today was the first time that I realized the brains of the person on the second last page of the Lateralus booklet spell "GOD".

Has anyone else ever noticed this?

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-19-2005 06:46 PM

Ok, I was just worried about you singing to a track that isn't the one that we're gonna use. My reason being if you didn't sing to that backing track, chances are it would have been wayy out of time. Now are you going to upload it?

Ben-How does he control it with his feet? Could you elaborate on this some? The way I control feedback is just by hitting a harmonic, and fading my volume. :p It's not really feedback, but I suppose you can achieve some what of the same effect that way. :-/

Yup.
Knew that like when I got it.
Only because I read it somewhere though :D

Syncratic 06-19-2005 06:48 PM
Has anyone else ever noticed this?
Yep. I found it the first day I had it (Christmas '04) while I was listening to 'The Grudge'

Neurotoxin 06-19-2005 06:57 PM

I think the main reason of mine for never seeing it was that I lost my case/book the day I bought the CD (I was cleaning out my room and somehow it got mixed in with my garbage).

Oddly enough I've never actually read about it, and I've read hundreds of Tool related articles.

Syncratic 06-20-2005 05:02 PM

I just heard another rumor about the new album/DVD/whatever. Someone who lives in England said she saw a poster advertising the new Tool album, to be released August 23rd, in the window of a record store. She asked the record store owner if this was true, and he said that 'something' regarding Tool will arrive August 23rd. What do y'all think?

Don't toy with my emotions like that...

Doomed To Crumble 06-20-2005 05:43 PM

New DVD

The rumors are true, tool will have a new dvd contain all lateralus material from there last tour and its expected to be released some time in the begging of august. YYYAAAA!!! :D

Doomed To Crumble 06-20-2005 05:45 PM

O and if your interested where i get my sources i heard it right off of the radio

Magicaltroll 06-20-2005 05:48 PM

...omg

Kage 06-20-2005 05:55 PM

Sounds good to me.

Magicaltroll 06-20-2005 05:57 PM

I don't think this is real...
Why wouldn't Tool put this on their site?

Kage 06-20-2005 05:59 PM

Since when does Tool put anything informative or of any worth on their website?

Magicaltroll 06-20-2005 06:05 PM

I don't know...
But still. It just seems kinda weird...
I don't want to get all excited over nothing.

/trying to hide excitement

I think it definitely is true. They already have the rights to the teleincision domain name with the date of its release. http://www.teleincision.com/
