Well he's shown up again. That's enough to ban him according to this rule:
26.If you're banned and show back up your main user is subject to have the ban extended or possibly perm. banned.
Isn't it?

please ban him now he only starts fight with me and i dont even no who he is

3074326 11-15-2005 01:36 AM

If he continues to argue you, let me (or another mod) know and we'll get him taken care of.

He hasn't really done anything wrong on that account. I would ban it, but banning is obviously worthless since he's gotten around it already.

.:Thrasher:. 11-15-2005 01:40 AM

if he does do it again can you like put a bare on his IP Address so he cant make a new one?

camelfarmer 11-15-2005 04:27 AM

Just ignor him for now dude, if its a big problem mods will look after him. Users arent really ip banned just like that though.

Also try using capitals that the start of a sentence (just saying).
if he does do it again can you like put a bare on his IP Address so he cant make a new one?
No. Definitely not for something insignificant. I don't have that power anyways. The only person who can is the administrator.

It's insignificant compared to other things going on right now.
Well he's shown up again. That's enough to ban him according to this rule:

You're allowed to come back only if you be good on the back-up account, otherwise your main account gets the ban extended. When I got banned, I just didn't log on MX, though.

Hmmm..she's getting pretty annoying going into every big band thread and saying "they rock!" or "they're ok!"

Nothing bannable, and she probably won't stay around for long, but I've been finding her annoying.

Freezing Moon 11-15-2005 11:18 PM

Can anyone tell me what is up with all of the deleting of posts recently? I am fairly sure I've seen myself with this post count more than once.

Also, the arguement I got banned for was deleted and I thought it was hilarious. What is up with the deletions?

I could be wrong about my postcount, but I'm fairly sure I'm not.

Riva 11-15-2005 11:37 PM

If a thread has more spam/flames then posting, I tend to delete them. I'm also deleting troll threads. Other than that, I guess you could be blaming the Pit mods for deleting those threads.

SonorKen 11-15-2005 11:38 PM

I think people will start to see declining post counts as spam threads or total trash threads are going to be hard deleted instead of soft deleted.

Alright.

I'm not really blaming anyone, more just questioning if they are indeed being deleted and the reasoning, and my questions got answers.

As far as The Pit goes, I probably have <10 posts in there, :p.

Thanks.

Bartender 11-16-2005 04:36 AM
I think people will start to see declining post counts as spam threads or total trash threads are going to be hard deleted instead of soft deleted.
Soft deletions remove post count just as much as hard deletions do, though. The only difference is that they can't be restored at some point in the future, which they never are anyway.

superpeer 11-16-2005 09:15 AM

It's not really a vs. thread, but the question has been answered anyway.

:10,000th reply!

Stormrider 11-16-2005 03:02 PM

I dunno if its something thats not my buisness but is it possible to check someone elses Rep points ?

Jom 11-16-2005 03:03 PM
I dunno if its something thats not my buisness but is it possible to check someone elses Rep points ?
No. You can get a vague idea by going to the members list and sorting by reputation, but it won't tell you another's exact rep score.

Stormrider 11-16-2005 03:05 PM

Oh ok. How can you get repped though ?
And what happens when you press the report bad post?

Jom 11-16-2005 03:27 PM
Oh ok. How can you get repped though ?
Being helpful and constructive around the forums, being respectful in correspondence, being approachable. Those are really the big three/four.

Certainly, there are other ways one can achieve rep, but they're (for the most part) frowned upon. This includes whining to mods or whoring for rep points.

Keep in mind that one can be negatively repped as well. It's the same as positive rep, just with negative repercussions (derrhrrhrr).
And what happens when you press the report bad post?
Nothing, as it's disabled.

Hope that was helpful.

Thread was a question about what Mudvayne cd to get. Should have been in the music recommendation thread.

Can this be done?

Led Zep.

TojesDolan 11-16-2005 05:29 PM

Yeah, so... when I finished my lit test, I had an idea of how to make the Vs. Threads work, you know, to avoid other garbage and such.

1. Bands for "Vs" are voted in a special thread (say, the one that's already on...), and every week/2 weeks/month, the "Vs" thread is closed and changed for the new one, for diversity sakes.
2. Annoying users and unconstructive posts are bannable offences, sure, so it should be clarified in the first post, or something.
3. I was thinking about "team formations" or team leaders, but considering this is an open forum, that'd be useless, as everyone are allowed to talk about whatever they wish.
4. I was also thinking of leaving the "Vs" voting thread on, so that it moves fluidly, and give each "Vs" a determined time. When the time is up, the thread is closed, and the new one comes.

It may work... Or it could be in a tournament manner... but that'd be much, much more trouble. :-/

Should be asked in music recommendation thread.

Stormrider 11-16-2005 08:06 PM

If for example I want to send a song to someone by email, how do I do that ?

Riva 11-16-2005 08:06 PM

Get their email, then open your email account, and send it to them.

Daven 11-16-2005 08:17 PM
If for example I want to send a song to someone by email, how do I do that ?
It depends on the way you want to send it, you can choose "attach a file" and then you choose the song you want to send and then wait until it finishes uploadingand then send it.

Or you can send it using YSI, which IMO is easier and faster.

But Thanks though...

Stormrider 11-16-2005 08:34 PM

And where is the YSI thing ?

Sry for all the questions...probably the only one in these forums who doesnt know this, oh well.

Browse for the file and hit "Send it!"

Adding an e-mail is optional, since you will get a confirmation link after the file is stored on the server. It is ideal, though, that you just get a hold of the person whom you wish to send a file's e-mail address.

Stormrider 11-16-2005 08:39 PM

Oh ok, Thanks guys.

flamming a band

Riva 11-16-2005 09:26 PM

Uh, bloke, why did you link to a thread in Archives?

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-16-2005 10:39 PM

I think there should be some kind of amendment to the rules saying something like this:

#. If you go into an illegal thread that was started by someone who may not have known any better, and proceed to flame him for "being a n00b," you will be subject to punishment(just as much, or more than the original threadstarter/poster). Instead, help this user out by either quickly answering a simple question, or nicely pointing him in the right direction, whether it be an official thread, the rules, etc...

Lately, I've seen lots of new users get flamed, or just just told something like "rules, dumbass" for something that the new user did that may have been against the rules. Still, if they're new to the forums, we should still give them a chance at learning before we scare them away for good. They could be the next Riva! (Sucking up lolol)

If you think I'm a dumbass for wanting such a thing, then whatever, but I think it would be a good idea.

STFU OMG MAKING SUGGESTIONS TO HELP HELPS NO ONE URR JUST TRYING TO LOOK SPECIAL AND PRETTY FOR TEH REP NO ONE CARES R+M IS FINE THE WAY IT IS.

Actually, I'm behind this one-hundred percent. I can't believe it hasn't been edited into the rules already.

Riva 11-17-2005 02:19 AM

It is in the rules...
1. No creating posts or threads specifically for flaming another person or for flaming/slamming bands. If you're going to say some band or some artist sucks, explain why. If you can intelligently explain why you hate a certain band, we will generally leave your post alone. This rule applies to replies about bands in threads. If you post "Van Halen sucks" in a Van Halen thread, your going to be temp. banned.

16. Do not post in spam threads/threads that violate the rules; the thread starter will be banned along with the posters.
However, I will start enforcing it, if you like. It's just sometimes hard to tell when one is a newbie or just a bastard.

I will too.

My bans for this will more than likely only be a day or two, unless they go waaaay too far.

It makes it easier to report it by clicking the number in the right hand corner of the post, then it just shows the individual post rather then the whole thread.
