So is The Art of Rory on your wall in your room? If so, then did your parents just let you spray paint stencils there? Because that'd be pretty cool.

My room is actually on the other side of that wall. That wall is just another wall in my basement, sort of in the computer area. And yeah, my parents said that it's totally fine. My dad paints houses for a living, so he can direct me in what paints to use and such, as well.

bleep_bloop 09-25-2006 01:12 AM

How are you doing the stencils? Those look pretty pro.

coheneran 09-25-2006 03:35 AM
I got some green spray paint from a friend's house, and although it's not exactly the color I needed, it is what I needed for my snakefinger stencil.:

It's not great, but it's better than my first try.

Here's how the wall looks. my friend went a little crazy with the green paint. I'm pretty soon going to paint over all of it, as most of it is just testing.

Sweet toms, do they have a variable sound?

The cat-villain (Thundercats?) stencil rocks.:thumb:

DIY question:

I wanna decorate my guitar (acoustic, wood coloured), but I wanna be able to take them off afterwards without ruining the guitar. Any ideas?

Rise Me Up 09-25-2006 06:22 PM

stickers maybe? you can DIY them. or you could put clear tape on there and spray it on top of that.

Jon 09-25-2006 06:36 PM

spray some paper or whatever.

double sided tape/masking tape.

ask the guitar section, they answer of questions like that. i think the paint ussally chips off after a while sot the best way would be clear tape.

Massriot 09-25-2006 07:15 PM

been asked before, I'm sure. but I really don't feel like going through three hundred sixty pages.

so.. for six inch hair, with a mohawk about two inches wide, do you think that rubber cement [for hair] would work? or something home made would be cool too. I don't want to have to use like 50 different things to keep it up.
thanks guys.

SantaDuJuan 09-25-2006 07:16 PM

Don't crakas use that crazy hairspray?

Massriot 09-25-2006 07:17 PM

I'm not familiar with this "crazy hairspray" hah.
want to show me what you mean? :P

SantaDuJuan 09-25-2006 07:22 PM

I'm pretty sure in this guess, but on teh of the OG MX posters had a larger mohawk, and she said she uses hairspray.

Granted it's not any kind of hairspray, but try over the counter stuff first man.
Don't just get on the internet and ask people if it's okay to use cement to put your mohawk up. You don't know what that could do to your scalp.

Massriot 09-25-2006 07:29 PM

thanks.
but I mean rubber HAIR cement.
I found it in the store, and I was basically asking if anyone has experience with it. sorry for the confusion. I was also asking if anyone has had good luck with other stuff.

but yeah, thanks for helping.

SantaDuJuan 09-25-2006 07:38 PM

HEY man, is it a spray or a jel?

Massriot 09-25-2006 07:57 PM

a gel type stuff.
?

mullets suk 09-25-2006 08:06 PM

my freind had one and used this model glue stuff. even though his was pretty crappy, so...

Also ive asked my parents if i could put up some spare dry wall behind my drum set so i could spray my stencils up there. Ive never sprayed walls so whats some tips to get an even spray that wont run? I don’t want this to be a wall for just random crap, so the best spray would be great.

POINTLESS5448 09-26-2006 07:59 PM

cover a large area around the stencil as to eliminate overspray and spray from far away so it wont bleed. thats what i would do.

bleep_bloop 09-26-2006 10:09 PM

In making the stencil do you draw the picture or print it, cause I've seen some pretty pro stuff.

Danger Bird 09-26-2006 11:18 PM

I take it you've all seen http://www.diyhappy.com?

bleep_bloop 09-26-2006 11:54 PM

why does no one ever answer my questions?

coheneran 09-27-2006 06:40 AM

Because it was 5am when you posted it?:p

You can draw, or you can print, depending on how confident you are in your freehanding. I've drawn a couple, but usually I print them out, or make them on Photoshop and then print them out. Printing also gives you more contrast, and Photoshop lets you edit it much more quickly and easily than it would to do it by hand. At the end of the day, it's up to you, and what you're most comfortable with.:thumb:

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j73/h-drix/BR.jpg Bad religion shirt ive finally mad. It doesnt have the name so that may cause trouble with people. i dont really care, but who knows. any one else ever have trouble cause of band names and whatnot? ( i know older guys from the 80's may have some stores from what ive heard.)

POINTLESS5448 09-27-2006 09:23 PM

id put the words. what you have right now has the same efftect as it would with the words. good job though.

Mike Rakhabit 09-27-2006 09:50 PM

Well done, it looks pretty good but i would be better if it had the words also in the Bad Religion logo isn't the cross white and the circle thing red?

mullets suk 09-28-2006 05:23 AM

haha yea, but it was easier for me to have the cross red and circle white. also when i put it though the wash last night, i didnt wait long enough. and the acrylic paint started to peel. so ill have to redo that and ill put the words on.

:)

Words aren't important, you'll get looks regardless.

Flagjacket 09-28-2006 06:51 PM

I always thought the point of wearing clothes was to look good or represent bands you like not to get dirty looks.

asdf 09-28-2006 07:23 PM

I always thought the point of wearing clothes was to cover up socially unacceptable nakedness.

If you want real dirty looks, expose yourself.
