Maybe, but I'm trying to work with you guys here so that you can stop ****ing with me.
Then listen to real metalcore. Stop coming in here talking about "mathcore" and other such dumb shit.

LifeInABox 06-28-2007 09:54 AM

Who would you consider "real" metalcore then, Retired?

Invicta_Veritas 06-28-2007 09:57 AM
Who would you consider "real" metalcore then, Retired?
That's a subject of constant debate man. It always leads to hatred and bickering in R&M. I gave up a long time ago.

LifeInABox 06-28-2007 09:58 AM

I think I will to. It's not really worth it. Can we just talk about anything metalcore, even "fake" metalcore?

Invicta_Veritas 06-28-2007 10:00 AM

Here's something interesting that will probably get me flamed to all hell. I just thought of this.

36 Crazyfists is metalcore, if you actually think about it. Hardcore+ metal influence=metalcore. But I never hear them called metalcore.

////two cents.

LifeInABox 06-28-2007 10:02 AM

Well, Converge is Hardcore + Metal, but they definatly don't fit the mold of Metalcore, at least of Modern Day Metalcore.

Invicta_Veritas 06-28-2007 10:06 AM

I don't really think any band really does anymore, which causes all the arguement these days. So many bands have such a variety of influences that it's impossible for them to be put in a prior-defined category these days.

Could you imagine if I started calling my solo project "extreme symphonic blackened melodic grinded death"? See my point? lol

It's just easier to call it death metal. Just like it's easier to call some bands metalcore, until everybody throws a fit about it.

LifeInABox 06-28-2007 10:08 AM

yeah, which is why I think it was kindof stupid to close my thread for just "Metal", seeing as defining every subgenre of metal (which I hate doing, for the most part) would take literally a year, and some threads might have only one band in it.

Nepenthe 06-28-2007 10:44 AM

Yeah but you sound just as retarded calling it extreme symphonic blackened melodic grinded death as you do calling it death metal, because it's clearly not either.

Late, but for Hopesfall, you absolutely have to get No Wings To Speak Of. You're life isn't complete until you've heard that. The Frailty Of Words has some excellent parts throughout, but it's very amateur. Their latest albums are more space rock than post hardcore, they're kind of doing the whole Cave In thing. It's good stuff, but No Wings is just classic.

This thread shouldn't be closed, I like alot of this music and there's nowhere else to talk about it. It's great when Mappy, Justin, Concubine, I, and a few others are here.

RetiredAt21 06-28-2007 11:11 AM

Rorschach (early kickass metalcore)
Converge
Coalesce
Skycamefalling
Poison The Well (early stuff)
Botch
Kiss It Goodbye
Integrity

2muchket! 06-28-2007 11:12 AM

I don't really regard mathcore as a real genre, due to its sheer stupidity.

I love early Poison The Well at the moment. Them and Killswitch.

RetiredAt21 06-28-2007 11:12 AM
Well, Converge is Hardcore + Metal, but they definatly don't fit the mold of Metalcore, at least of Modern Day Metalcore.
You really are a fucking idiot.

LifeInABox 06-28-2007 11:12 AM

Ok, I have P-Dubs, Converge, and Botch, so We've talked about both Botch and Convere, so let's discuss PTW.

I only like their first album.

Nepenthe 06-28-2007 11:14 AM

Integrity is the ****ing ****. Have you heard Those Who Fear Tomorrow yet?

RetiredAt21 06-28-2007 11:14 AM
Integrity is the ****ing ****. Have you heard Those Who Fear Tomorrow yet?
Yeah, I told someone awhile back to check that album out. Humanity Is The Devil is pretty good, too.

Nepenthe 06-28-2007 11:32 AM

I forgot to say the 15th anniversary rerelease. Yeah, Humanity is my second favorite from them. I've heard all the stuff before Humanity, but nothing from after it. Any of that material good?

Invicta_Veritas 06-28-2007 11:38 AM

You're a fucking idiot.

What would you call it then? And if you tell me hardcore or some dumb ****, I'm going to have a brain hemorrhage.

Eliminator 06-28-2007 11:38 AM

ur 1 2 tok

LifeInABox 06-28-2007 11:40 AM

Integrity is sick, I'll agree with you on that, as is Coalesce.

LifeInABox 06-28-2007 11:46 AM

And I never said Kiss It Goodbye sucks, I just said they're meh to me.

Tyler 06-28-2007 12:18 PM

to catch up
1) mathcore isn't a real genre, it's just a blanket term Chris Pennie said because he thought it described how calculated (calculating infinity..are you following yet?) yet insane their music was
2) You can't talk about a modern mold in metalcore because most modern metalcore is actually just metal with breakdowns.

You guys confuse waves with blanket terms with influences. Well, not Retired or Nepenthe or the few that know their ****, but you get my drift.

Thread needs more Cursed talk. By definition they're metalcore; they mix metal, hardcore, thrash and sludge/stoner, yet they sound almost nothing like other metalcore bands. There's a slight Kurt Ballou influence which comes from them being on Deathwish, but I digress.

i am the robots 06-28-2007 12:36 PM

Please don't be referring to me with, "You guys," and, somehow, can we force Hbp and BRA to stop posting in here, please?
Go to http://www.myspace.com/bydeathsdesign and listen to Icarus.

That album, Don't Test The Universe, has quite possibly the worst bass drum ever. It sounds like the drum is made of paper. But it's a ****in excellent album nonetheless.
Pretty good, yeah. The bass drum's tone sounds like somebody hitting a binder with a pencil in school... lol.

LifeInABox 06-28-2007 12:44 PM

You carry no weight in that matter, whatsoever.

RetiredAt21 06-28-2007 12:45 PM
Integrity is sick, I'll agree with you on that, as is Coalesce.
Word. I still hate you because you said Kiss It Goodbye is "meh."

Hey, don't get too comfy here, you like Bring Me The Horizon. And you think they are melodic death. DURH.
Word. I still hate you because you said Kiss It Goodbye is "meh."
Well I havn't truely listened to them, but the sampling and youtubeing i've done of them have just put them in the Meh category.

I like some music you don't like? Fuck!

Listen to Count Your Blessings all the way through, it's clearly melodic death metal, if you were to say otherwise, you'd be lying to yourself.

Invicta_Veritas 06-28-2007 12:55 PM

Coming from the dude that said Unearth was Melodic Death Metal also.

i am the robots 06-28-2007 12:57 PM

I said Unearth was closer to being melodic death metal than hardcore...

In my defense, I've said a lot of stupid things in my day.

No I wouldn't, you're just trying not to look stupid.

i am the robots 06-28-2007 01:01 PM

No, really dude, you're just flat out wrong here.

Daven 06-28-2007 01:01 PM

Would I Killed the Prom Queen be metalcore?

Invicta_Veritas 06-28-2007 01:02 PM

Can't we all just get along?

Nostalgia 06-28-2007 01:02 PM

Why're you arguing with Matt? He's like the harcore/metalcore/whatevercore resident.

RetiredAt21 06-28-2007 01:02 PM
Would I Killed the Prom Queen be metalcore?
They just suck. Let's not talk about them.

Actually, I am.

The only cores that matter are:

hardcore
metalcore
grindcore
