I don't even remember this band being powerviolence, they don't really sound it much at all.

What would you say they sound like?

And I can totally see powerviolence in their music, but maybe that's not the dominating genre.

no, but it is definitely power violence influenced. in a very loose sense they are but only in the same sense that trash talk is power violence or that set your goals is hardcore.
