Dave or Adrian or Janick.Id have to say Adrian, hes more melodic, dave just rips the fretboard up with hammer ons and stuff, not that theres anything wrong with that.

davidbate 05-07-2004 06:58 AM
I'd ask Steve Harris to show me how to play a three-finger triplet with only two fingers (like "The Trooper"). How?!
ive been playin bass 1 year an i can do tiplets wiv only 2 fingers in my sleep !maiden rule!

Jakobee 05-07-2004 07:23 AM

In your opinion what would you guys say was the best iron maiden era from the paul to bruce to blaze to bruce again??? thanks

-IRON MAIDEN LIVE ON!

mickthemuso 05-07-2004 08:17 AM

why do u people call the gallop rhythm triplets? triplets are 3 notes of even value that add together to make 1 beat. shakes head.. i would say... the bruce eras. both of them.

Mick

Photophobic 05-07-2004 10:42 AM

^^I was a little surprised given that we use triplets in drumming too. Silly guitarists/bassists :D

Yeah, I'm not sure I'll even buy the non-Bruce albums, I head Blaze performing Fear of the Dark live. It physicaly hurt.

It always makes me smile when Jakobee's avatar fallis in time with what I'm listening too :)

HondoII 05-07-2004 11:21 AM

You cant beat the Bruce era. But the Di'anno and Blaze eras were totally awesome as well.

Photophobic 05-07-2004 11:21 AM

I'm not too familiar with them. Where they any different musicaly?

LordDargon 05-07-2004 11:36 AM

The first Bruce era, of course.

YAHHHHHHH YAHHHHH YAH! HALLOWED BE THY NAMEE!

Thunder Fingers 05-07-2004 11:48 AM

I love the Diannio era and the Blaze era, but nothing beats the first Bruce Era! ah! Piece of mind, Powerslave, somewhere in time, seventh son of a seventh son... Who can beat thoose?! (and yes, The Number of the beast is NOT one of my favorite albums...)

Tank 05-07-2004 01:42 PM

hi all this is my first post in this maiden forum the official one seems to be down. Any ways:
1)1st Bruce era
2)2nd Bruce era
3)Di'anno era
4)blaze era
They all rock coz theyre all IRON 'KIN MAIDEN

The Clansman...secrets 05-07-2004 01:44 PM

I would have to say the Bruce era from Piece of Mind to 7th Son of a 7th Son. But the last two albums are just off the charts.

Brew 05-07-2004 01:54 PM

First Bruce Era>Di'Anno Era>Second Bruce Era>Blaze Era.

YDload 05-07-2004 08:05 PM

I play them as equal-length notes, so I call them triplets. "The Trooper" uses triplets with the last note in each triplet accented, and "Run to the Hills" uses an eigth note followed by two sixteenths for a "gallop rhythm." That's how I tell the difference.

FrailandBedazzled1979 05-07-2004 08:39 PM

Dickenson era is without a doubt their greatest. it had the most material, the best of their material, and contuines to be wonderful. Di'anno's era was great as well, but i doubt they would be taken where they are today with him. Paul isnt the song writer Bruce is nor has the voice that solitified the band's sound. Blayze had his moments, but they are easily the weakest of the Maiden albums.

FrailandBedazzled1979 05-10-2004 01:25 AM

**FLASH!!**

has anyone in here read "The Da Vinci Code" yet? its a story about the catholic church's cover up for the truth behind Jesus Christ and the real reason behind the holy grail...if not i suggest it.

what does this have to do with Iron Maiden? well ill tell you!! I was listening to "Montsegur" earlier and noticed the lyrical content in the song realtes to many topics discussed in the book:

1. the templar knights and their true mission
2. catholic church's pope killing to hide the truth
3. secret sociesties ("what secrets they took to their grave" and "to die and be free")
4. the old testament
5. the holy grail's inspiration on the catholics

if anyone has read the book, "Montsegur" makes so much more sense (not that it didnt before). Steve Harris is very well knowledged in this subject matter as i am now aware of, and anyone intrested in the topic should check out the book and re-read the lyrics to "Montsegur" the way Steve wrote the lyrics is simpley breath-taking when you have a good understanding of the topic....-Frail

Photophobic 05-10-2004 03:15 AM

Montsegur is about the Cathards.

HondoII 05-10-2004 11:27 AM
Montsegur is about the Cathards.
yep.

mmm bloodshed

FrailandBedazzled1979 05-10-2004 01:02 PM

i know what its about, i telling you that if you knew about the history of the templars, the popes evil deeds, and the catholic coverups...the song reveals alot more than i originally thought.

Photophobic 05-11-2004 04:34 AM

Oh. Ok. Bump.

gnrboy87 05-11-2004 07:31 AM

Iron Maiden rule, they have to claim being one of the best power metal bands of all time. Still goin' strong!

Photophobic 05-12-2004 03:10 AM

Maiden are power metal?
Maiden are heavy metal. Or, for a more enjoyable answer, find thta thread called "What Genre Is Iron Maiden" and listen to the sound file.

metalmosher666 05-12-2004 04:29 AM

maiden are power metal. power metal is music that is heavily orientated around guitar and guitar solos. You listen to that sound file, and you'll hear that maiden are power metal. what an ***

If you got the programme from the DoD tour and look at the montsegur song, It explains what they were trying to get across, it even explains the line:
"The eye in the triangle smiling...." as reference to the roswell cover up.

I have to admit montsegur isn't the greatest song musically, but it has to be the most researched song which makes it a masterpiece.

I defintelty think Maiden are Heavy metal 'cos they started (along with other bands) of the New Wave of British HEAVY Metal.

I think that you should classify your favorite songs from songs on each album. I have thirteen favorite songs...one for each album. Here they are in order. Bash if you want rejoice if they rock.

Iron Maiden - Santuary
Killers - Wrathchild
The Number of the Beast - The Prisoner
Piece of Mind - Flight of Icarus
Powerslave - Aces High
Somwhere in Time - Wasted Years
7th Son of a 7th Son - The Evil That Men Do
No Prayer for Dying - Holy Smoke
Fear of the Dark - Fear of the Dark (given)
The X-Factor - Sign of the Cross
Virtual XI - The Clansman (of course)
Brave New World - The Wicker Man
Dance of Death - No More Lies

Oh yes...they do rock.

flappersack 05-13-2004 11:51 PM

Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera
Killers - Killers
NOTB - Hallowed be they name
Piece of Mind - where eagles dare
Powerslave - 2 minutes to midnight
Somewhere in time - Heaven can wait
7th son of a 7th son - 7th son of a seventh son
No Prayer for the dying - bring your daughter to the slaughter
Fear of the dark - afraid to shoot strangers
(not as familiar with x factor and virtual XI so il skip those:P)
Brave new world - the thin line between love and hate
Dance of Death - Face in the sand.
