The Hollow
Magdalena
Rose
Judith
3 Libras
Vanishing
A Stranger
Gravity
Pet
The Outsider

A mix of their two (good) albums.
can someone recommend me some "A perfect circle" songs to download.
Thanks
The Hollow
Magdelena
Judith
Three Libras

Those are the only ones I know the names of :-/

Bartender 03-15-2005 01:00 PM

All top quality though.

munky_magik 03-15-2005 01:04 PM

Indeed, I really need to get around to buying 13th Step. They usually have it for £5 in Fopp, but there're usually better things on offer so it never gets bought.

Bartender 03-15-2005 01:05 PM

Both of their albums are in the 4 for £20 sale in HMV at the moment actually, along with a surprisingly good selection of other stuff. Maybe you could pick them up there.

Definetly need to add "The Package" and "The Noose" to that list :thumb:

Bartender 03-15-2005 01:15 PM

Well I didn't want to just give him the track listing to both albums, so I just put what first came to mind.

You could try Sleeping Beauty aswell, and Bréna.

Man I love those songs.
Well I didn't want to just give him the track listing to both albums, so I just put what first came to mind.
Oh that's cool.

But those two songs are amazing IMO, so I felt they should be on there :thumb:

I bought 8 albums in that sale. 'Album of the Year' was one of the ones I picked up.

I thought, I'm not gonna be able to get them any other time for any less, so I may aswell.

Any recommend me some good Rock/Metal/Prog bands who use a Piano/have a Pianist in the band?

munky_magik 03-15-2005 01:27 PM

Dream Theater are kinda the obvious recommendation.
They have pianoesque moments, although alot of it is basically just keyboard shred now. Their earlier stuff with Moore was alot more restrained I feel.
I'll see if I can come up with anymore.

Yeah, I picked up eight albums, too.

3rdplanet 03-15-2005 01:31 PM

Phew, I thought it was a stupid thing to pick up that many CDs. Really wanted to get Aqualung but they had sold all the copies they had had the day before. Was quite suprised by the selection they had.

I guess I should have said I was a huge Dream Theater fan :p

'Lovin' a Space Dye Vest!'

Yeah, it was surprisingly good. And don't worry, my flatmate (with a little prompting from me) also bought eight, eventually.

Why would you need prompting to buy CDs? Especially CDs on offer?

Bartender 03-15-2005 01:35 PM

He was only going to buy four originally. He doesn't buy many CDs in general, so getting him to buy eight was a little achievement in itself.

haha, ok, now next time I walk in there I won't have to hide from the guy that sold me the 8 CDs. He looked at me weirdly...
I want to clarify for this poster: he's referring to Evergrey.
AntiHero3314 is online now Report Bad Post
Hah, I just copied and pasted my post and forgot that I didn't mention the name of the band in that actual post. :D Thanks for for noticing my mistake because I probably wouldn't have.

This is what I meant:
I just found out about Evergrey yesterday. I downloaded a couple of songs of their official website and they sounded great. Can anyone recommend me some of their albums or any good songs in particular. I mostly like songs in the instrumental side especially guitarwise but I'm open to any other of their songs that sound good. Thanks for the help.

hatchedinalab89 03-15-2005 08:59 PM

I have 3 albums: Piece Of Mind, Powerslave, and Number Of The Beast. My favorite is Powerslave, but they're all amazing.

dont get rock in rio. i dont know of any greatest hits for them that are good so i would recommend getting number of the beast first. if you like that, try piece of mind and powerslave.

edit: dammit, the guy above me named all the ones i did.

Jom 03-15-2005 09:10 PM

I just listened to a couple songs from "The Inner Circle" from Evergrey.

Check out "When The Walls Go Down," ThisGuy.

lightningmetal666 03-15-2005 09:24 PM

I've been wanting to get into some Venom and other black metal bands
any suggestions?

Nate22 03-15-2005 10:13 PM

I am burning a CD with different songs on it for a book project for school. I read a murder mystery type of book, so any songs that are kind of mysterious sounding, gloomy, scary, or anything you think would fit with it. Needs to be appropriate to give to my teacher though.

Thanks

Can someone reccomend me some "Cog" songs?

I tried those mp3's from the Cog thread, but I couldn't get them to work, so if someone could host them on yousendit or whatever, that would be greatly appreciated. :thumb:

6Stringer 03-16-2005 11:11 AM

Can anyone recommend me a good Helloween album? I've heard 2 songs from The Keeper of the Seven Keys II and it sounds pretty good to me.

I've thought about this and I've come up with: Porcupine Tree on occasion(you should check them out anyway) and Muse often.
I don't really class Muse as Prog but some people do.

Venom are thrash - get Welcome to Hell, Black Metal, At War With Satan.

Black Metal:

Mayhem: De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Burzum: Aske
Darkthrone: Ablaze in the Northern Sky

I told you to do The Sleep of No Dreaming in Forced Listening.

I own all of Muses' albums.

Ok guys, I'm broke right now but I feel compelled to get a new album or two.

Firstly, should I pick up None So Vile by Crytopsy or Chaosphere by Meshuggah?

Secondly, I'm currently getting into Arcturus and Ulver so an album recommendation for them would also be nice. I already have The Sham Mirrors on order, so no need to suggest that.

Thanks in advance. :thumb:

Get None So Vile, you will never regret it.

And for Arcturus, get La Masquerade Infernale, just a purely brilliant album.

As for Ulver...it all depends on what you want out of them. They have changed from folk, to folkish black metal to trip hop to electronica, so it depends on what you want out of them.

They're the songs that G Mac uploaded, haven't really had a chance to listen to them properly yet, but they sound ok from what I've heard... the file is about 43 meg I think...

drdew 03-16-2005 08:14 PM

What r some bands that sound like the Lost Prophets???

Thanks, I leaning towards None So Vile but thought I should confirm. I'll also get La Masquerade Infernale.

As for Ulver, I read somewhere that Arcturus and Ulver have shared members in the past, so I figure I'll get black metal one.

Arrakakaka 03-16-2005 09:18 PM

I need some good classic punk bands. The classic punk that I listen to is The Ramones and The Clash.I also need more alternative bands like Radiohead.
I need some good classic punk bands. The classic punk that I listen to is The Ramones and The Clash.I also need more alternative bands like Radiohead.
The Misfits
GBH
Bad Brains
Black Flag
The Exploited
The Jam
Stranglers
Minor Threat
Dead Kennedys

I'm not to up on Punk so the list is a bit sketchy and theres a couple of different styles of Punk in there. Anyway, most of them fit under the genre and the ones that I enjoy.

In addition to what the other guy said:

Crass
Peter and The Test Tube Babies
The Adicts
The Cramps
The Sex Pistols
