First time they came here, some kids got on and everyone stopped but Tom, and Tom just yelled at the band to keep going.

TakeWarning 12-12-2005 08:49 AM

Stopping your music for a minor disruption like kids jumping on stage can sometimes ruin the whole show.

sketchyjoe 12-12-2005 09:52 AM
What do you mean by that, like putting out shitty albums because they're bigger?
It's when a band changes their sound and then claimes that their old music wasn't really what they wanted to do.

That'd be so lame.
FAT setup a scheduled interview with my friend. Then when he went on that day he called the FAT Office they, and said that they weren't gonna do the interview.

They didn't seem like they were into it that much (maybe because they were tired, and it was the last show of the fattour.)

During walking is still honest, tons of kids came on stage and they just walked off in the middle of the song until the kids went back into the crowd.

They also didn't play an encore, which is understandable but they seem like the kind of band that will always do encores, especially when the kids realy wanted them to come back.
I was at that show. I went on stage during Walking is Still Honest, I can't really recall them walking off stage though, but the song seemed like a mess as soon as there were a lot of kids on. I don't think they usually do encores. They didn't do one the last two times I them, though, the last time I saw them NOFX was headlining the show. I didn't really think much of the first two bands either, not really my thing. Smoke or Fire, who I heard were pretty good, seemed kinda boring to me.

Were you at the dungeon this saturday?

Sid 12-12-2005 03:52 PM

Wow, didn't think this would come up again.

It's pretty clear that AM! are rockstars now. You can argue until your blue in the face that they aren't, but it won't make it any less true. I don't really care about any the decisions they have made.

Admittidly, pulling Crime off of PIX was a pretty s'hitty thing to do. You know, as those were Tom's friends. Probably the only thing that sort of bothered me.

Luckily, PIX isn't about making money, like money-clenching Tom Gabel.

live fat, die young 12-12-2005 03:52 PM

Haha, ya, I was there. But, instead of seeing the Flatliners, me and my friends played lazer quest then went back to my house and played Super Smash Bro's on Nintendo 64. God, we're cool.

Hah. so you stayed for the two crappy bands?!?! the rest of the show was BANANAS.. haha ****ing GD put bananas on the floor.

live fat, die young 12-12-2005 03:59 PM

Nah, we didn't go for any of the show. We just parked in that parking lot near the Dungeon, walked by the doorway, and straight to some lazer tag, motha f'ucka. Then when we were going back to the car, some douche bag asked if any of us had a lighter, and we didn't, and we all happened to say "no" at the same time, and he made some crack about it. I can't remember what he said, but he was a douche bag. Are you going to the Ska Fest when it comes around? I can't remember the date of it.

Yeah but see NOFX was headling so it's understandable the openers don't play encores. However, from others who have seen the fattour I know a few i've heard from said they did encores. It doesn't really matter anyways though. I'm pretty sure they did walk off stage untill all the kids were off though.

AM! sets up barriers at their shows now so that the angry 'anarchists' can't have their heads.

live fat, die young 12-12-2005 04:05 PM

Ya, that's why I mentioned that NOFX headlined. They could have walked off, if you remember it happening, it's more likely that it did than me not noticing. I remember they stopped playing after Walking is Still honest until all the kids got off.

live fat, die young 12-12-2005 04:07 PM

Sweet, I'll probably go to that show. I added you.

No true anarchists have ever really dug Against me, I don't think. when I saw them recently it was actually my first gig without having tons secuirity infront of the crowd.

To be honest i can't remember that well, but I know they did stop playing at some point and walked off for a short period of time.

They didn't have security at the show they played here, and fromt he sounds of the palce they're playing Wednesday they won't have security there either. Maybe they just like Michigan better?

sketchyjoe 12-12-2005 07:21 PM

The place they're playing in London has annoying security that drag anyone who gets on stage off it before they have a chance to stage dive.

Lazybassplr56 12-12-2005 09:53 PM

Thats what it was like at the Circle Jerks show I went to a year ago. Come on a Circle Jerks show with out stagedives. Lame.

lynch_me 12-12-2005 10:03 PM

Stage diving is stupid in my opinion. Save it for Pearl Jam.

Nerdcore753 12-12-2005 10:11 PM

Stage diving is lame. And I didn't have a ride to the last two times Circle Jerks played nearby.

good rats 12-12-2005 10:12 PM

Yea, I dont like stage diving. Ive come to watch a band, not have some kid jump on my head.

Lazybassplr56 12-12-2005 10:12 PM

Bummer. So fun live.
No true anarchists have ever really dug Against me, I don't think. when I saw them recently it was actually my first gig without having tons secuirity infront of the crowd.
I think Anarchists in quotations might have given that away.

And i'm sure some people that think they're anarchists listen to AM! or did. Tom has said he's an anarchist (or has anarchist ideals, same thing), he's bound to have attracted people that believe to hold the same status.

sketchyjoe 12-13-2005 04:42 AM

Stage Diving is cool if you do it once but those idiots who did it every single song piss me off.

TakeWarning 12-13-2005 05:28 AM

I tell ya stage dives make me feel more alive than coded messages in slowed down songs.

Seeriously though, if anyone stage dives next show I'm at I'll be sure to kidney-punch them and steal their wallets.

Yea, I dont mind it if it happens a couple of times. But when people just keep going it pisses me off.

Haha, thats what I'll most likely do. The guys that normally stage dive at shows around here are kids who dont know better.

rawdog 12-13-2005 06:19 AM

This crime shit is ghey. I use to think their ideals hadn't changed all that much, but now, I guess they proved me wrong. At least we still have their old CDs. The saddest thing is, I don't own crime, and I really wanna buy it, but I don't wanna support the business decision that they made.

EDIT: And I made a new avatar, you can't see toms head to well, but its there.

rawdog 12-13-2005 06:57 AM

Look what I just found.

hey.
okay, so you know that against me! ask me to stop repressing the crime EP right? i would just like to clear up a few things. they never order me to stop repressing it. there was no threat of legal action or anything. they just asked me to stop...

they gave me 3 reasons.

1. they never knew the status of the release, if it was in print or not etc?
2. they didn't like the packaging.
3. they thought it cost too much in the no idea catalog.

i wrote back and addressed these three issues:

1. it has been in print since day one. it has never gone out of print. everytime i repressed it i sent them 200 more free copies. they have my email and phone number and could check the "status" at anytime.

i said i would be more than glad to give them reports on this.

2. i allow bands to have any type of packaging they want. the first pressing was in a case. when the 2nd pressing came up i was in gainesville and i ask tom if there was anything he wanted to change, we agreed that the sleeve/bag package would be better since it would make more room in the van.

i said we could change it back to anything they want

3. the no idea CD-EP is cheaper in the no idea catalog because no idea released it. it makes sense, i sell the crime ep to them for 3.50. since PIX sells all it's cds for 5 or 3.50 wholesale or 2.50 to bands, i can't afford to have lower prices for EPs. normal record labels can do that. no idea makes enough money off of their full length CDs to sell eps cheap and to sell LPs. that plan doesn't work for PIX. cheap cds limit what we can do.

there was nothing i could do about this.

so i told them that i really wanted to continue to release the CD. and i told them that it meant a lot to me to have it on plan-it-x and that i really loved the songs (i do). i told them that i really did not want to quit repressing it. i told them i did not agree with their complaints and that i would also do anything i could to make them happy and keep the release. i also told them the decision is theirs since i DO NOT own the music. they do.

i didn't get a response for a few months, then jordan wrote me and told me that they had repressed it already.

needless to say this hurts my feelings.
this is the first time a band has ever done anything like this to me.

i love the record and the music and it means a lot to me.

i don't really understand the argument that they just really want to release their own records and be DIY since they have a lot of releases on other labels and don't seem to be taking any of them back.

if they did take back all their releases and start only releasing their own records i would have great respect for them. but in this case it's hard not to take it personally. i think they dislike the rift that has grown between them and the DIY punks and somehow they think i am a part of it.

i don't really understand. i am hurt.

it took me a while to think of what to say about this.
i didn't want to say anything really but at every show kids ask me.
i hear kids saying dumb stuff about against me!, taking be to court,
or ordering me to stop repressing the CD.

it wasn't like that. but it was sad regardless.

i love the crime ep and i love the people in against me!. let that be known.

this is not a complaint, this is just information.

i hope no one from against me! takes it the wrong way.

i just wanted to explain this deal to the kids.

i still have about 300 crime eps and will sell them until they run out. the new pressing on sabot does not have the song: BURN BURN BURN. so if you want that song, get the CD before it's gone. i'm sending 200 to no idea soon, and will sell the last 100 myself.

please stop asking me questions about agianst me.
they (by their choice) are no longer a part of the PIX family.

i miss them.

-chris

But still, I stand by what I said about their ideals changing.

TakeWarning 12-13-2005 07:11 AM

Against Me! are getting pretty damn big now. I'm not really sure if their ideals have changed but I'm leaning more towards the "they have" direction.

good rats 12-13-2005 07:21 AM

Well...if this counts.

I love the music, but I really cant be ****ed getting caught up with there "ideals" and what not. I dont care if they turn into money greedy bastards, I've already got the music I want, so I'll listen to that and let them do what they want. But thats just me.

Yeah, same here, I still listen to Blink 182 on a regular basis, (now), even though they "sold out". I don't even care whether Against Me! "sell out" or not.

But I think that their lyrics and ideals what made them stand out. The passion about it all. From the new album, whilst the passion is still there, its not as great. But yeah, at least we still do have the old cds, except you can't buy crime anymore soon, hooray for illegal downloads.

Exactly.

On another completely irrelevant topic, my leg is itchy.

I can't wait til Febuary though. I get to see AM! again.:)

Henrik 12-13-2005 08:24 AM

I must have lived in a bunker for some time, cause i've missed some news here.

Will someone please explain to me what the thing about not repressing crime is?

TakeWarning 12-13-2005 08:34 AM

Against Me! told Plan-it-X Records not to repress the Crime...As Forgiven By Against Me! EP, so Plain-It-X are pretty pissed off at them. Anyway, everyone is accusing Against Me! of being ghey selloutz, and are now discussing the repercussions and ramifactions of them being selloutz.

Henrik 12-13-2005 09:17 AM

Thanks, Is their any difference in the songs on the new re-issued and the old cd on www.interpunk.com ?
Do both of them have burn burn burn on them?
