Get THE BEATLES COMPLETE SCORES!!!!
Heheh. I bought that 5 years ago for $70. Great book. Though occasionally I find glitches, mostly in the drum parts and in repeats, where the second time through or something there's a different part that's not included.

gmoneyguy 12-28-2004 10:22 AM

O ya, well I got The Beatles 1 book.

DeusExMachina 12-28-2004 04:06 PM

I think I have the anthologies book... not sure though.

Glitterati 12-28-2004 04:21 PM

The Beatles Anthology is an awesome book. It was written after John died ( :upset: ) but when George (my most favoritest Beatle) was alive.

I went out and bought myself a Beatles shirt yesterday. Eeeeeee!

Walrus Gumboot 12-28-2004 05:07 PM

ooh which one? (I think I am familiar with every Beatles shirt available for sale in the continental United States)

:watches concert for george:

Holy crap George's son looks just like him... I am somewhat frightened

DeusExMachina 12-28-2004 07:46 PM

I have an Abbey Road t-shirt. It's awesome.

Woodstock 12-28-2004 07:49 PM
I have an Abbey Road t-shirt. It's awesome.
So do I, and a Sgt. Peppers one.

Walrus Gumboot 12-28-2004 08:43 PM

The one that fades out along the edges?

I just recently aquired a Revolver one, but only cause the Rubber Soul one was too big
...but what I really want....more than anything...is a magical mystery tour on a yellow background

:sighs:

lennon2007 12-28-2004 09:01 PM
I like Let It Be, but I think it was a little rough around the edges. The performance of Let It Be the song is amazing though. Love that solo. George is one seriously underrated guitarist.
i agree george harrison is not only extremly underrated as a guitarist but also as a songwriter. when he asked john and paul if he could write songs with them john said "this is something me and paul have always done together" but he has wrote some of their best work. George Harrison was #21 on the greatest guitarists list and i think he shouldve been about 14 or 15. especially since cobain was 12. anyone else agree?

lennon2007 12-28-2004 09:05 PM

:watches concert for george:

Holy crap George's son looks just like him... I am somewhat frightened
LOL i know i was also shocked at how much his son looks like him. my teacher told me i look like george but his hair is darker.

lennon2007 12-28-2004 09:17 PM
Sad... no love for The Beatles thread. I have a question for everyone: what is up with Revoluion 9? Like, what is it? I've hear rumors that it says "turn me on dead man" backwards, but its more likely than not one of those coincidence things, seeing as I don't see how anyone could purposely put a backwards message in a song. Anyone know of any meaning to the song, or is it just random crap?
its true if you play revolution nine backwasrds you can hear "john is dead"

DeusExMachina 12-28-2004 09:21 PM

Lennon, welcome to the forum. One thing though, learn to use the edit button. Double and triple posting is kind of looked down on here.

Walrus Gumboot 12-29-2004 12:32 PM

Question:
At what point did the Beatles make the turn from their earlier stuff to their later stuff?

I think it all began with Rubber Soul, any thoughts?

Woodstock 12-29-2004 12:48 PM

I agree with Rubber Soul, it really sealed the end from their poppy stage.

DeusExMachina 12-29-2004 03:29 PM

Rubber Soul to some extent. However, I think it was Rubber Soul/Revolver that both did it. I mean, Rubber Soul somewhat, but Revolver really showed that "yeah, this is the end."

badapple 12-29-2004 04:55 PM

It was definately Rubber Soul that changed it all, that was the beginning. The "John is dead" thing is not true, its supposed to be "Paul is dead"

Walrus Gumboot 12-29-2004 05:03 PM

yeah as soon as that citar came in on "Norwegian Wood".. the end of the beginning

badapple 12-29-2004 05:16 PM

I quite like the sitar on that record, it dont sound as good without it.

Broken Arrow 12-29-2004 05:17 PM

I think it was mostly Revolver but I agree that the experiment with the sitar did break open there more creative side od them.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 12-29-2004 06:45 PM

wow...a lot has happened since Ive been gone

I think the end to the beginning was Rubber Soul...I believe that's about the time they started experimenting with marijuana, but I could be wrong

clown_phobia 12-29-2004 06:51 PM

Yeah George Harrison said in an interview that his music started become so much better once he started "smoking reefers". But he doesn't endorse drugs because he has come out of the other side of it now.

IHOLDMYPOOPIN 12-29-2004 07:04 PM

the end started when john met yoko. You see John hung around yoko so much that he began to smell like a dirty japaneese whore. Paul, who disliked the smell of japaneese whore, disided to leave the band. THE END (the love you take is equal to the love....you make)

NERFHERDER111 12-29-2004 07:10 PM

any body ever see the simpsons episode about homer when he was in the barbershop quartet called the be-sharps? i just watched that episode recently and noticed all the beatles references in it. homer's band was basically based on the story of the beatles. the similarities i found were:
1) they threw out chief wiggum and took in barney, at first to their fan's dissaproval, like ringo's replacement of pete best
2) their final concert was on a rooftop
3) barney started going out with a woman exactly like yoko ono and made a song similar to revolution 9, angering the rest of the band
4) they released an album called "bigger than jesus," reflecting john's famous controversy. the album cover was the be-sharps walking across water a la the beatles on abbey road
5) the back of one of their album covers resembles sgt pepper in that everyone but homer was facing front, like paul

anybody remember this episode and/or know of any more similarities??

NERFHERDER111 12-29-2004 07:17 PM

oo yeah forgot to also mention that george harrison guest starred on that episode

when they kicked out wiggum - everyone was chanting "wiggum forever, barney never" and that's the same thing they were chanting in liverpool: "pete forever, ringo never"

NERFHERDER111 12-29-2004 07:45 PM

also wanna mention in case anyone cares about this besides me is that at the end of the episode, while the credits are rolling, after the be-sharps song ends, homer says "id like to thank you on behalf of the band and i hope we passed the audition" a la john on the album version of get back

DeusExMachina 12-29-2004 09:19 PM

****... I need to see that episode. There was also an episode with The Who, and an episode where Homer would take cannon balls to the stomach, and he started doing that because he was shot in the stomach by the Pink Floyd pig from a cannon (the guy said he got the pig from a Pink Floyd yard sale.) Wrong band, I know, but the Simpsons is full of good music references.

It was Peter Frampton with the Pink Floyd Pig.

When they go to the rooftop concert, they're wearing the exact clothes that the Beatles wore on the rooftop concert.

Mojo2004 12-30-2004 11:07 AM

let it be was a legendary song....i remember listening it when all my old mates from secondary school went out seperate ways.

/me emotional now :upset:

Pepperina 12-30-2004 01:33 PM

"Wisdom" from girls

To those who think that the Beatles are underrated I think you should first learn more about rock music, pop music and classical music (including Stockhausen :)..sorry) and than you will love them! The only other band who comes close to integrating all this would be Pink Floyd.

Happy New Year!
