Get online you bastard.

chips88 01-27-2005 05:28 PM

Torn, what instrument did you play?

In fact, I would like a biography of your band, even if basic, but it would be cool to here about how you started, who you played with, releases, etc.

cbmartinez 01-27-2005 07:48 PM

Oh, you just demand biographies now?

So I should be seeing Envy, Off Minor, Welcome To The Plague Year and Malady right now.

Indeed I do. Actually, it was more like a request, sorry if it seemed like a demand.

And you have my sympathy.

YDload 01-27-2005 11:50 PM

One of the first threads I ever made on MX was where I insinuated that emo sucked because I didn't like Dashboard Confessional. I'm just lucky DFelon didn't reach through the screen and strangle me.

Now I have a better understanding of the genre thanks to threads like these, and I appreciate it a lot more than Dashboard, who is more of a James-Taylor-for-the-new-millennium-type of band.

Anyway: I'm sure At The Drive-In has been discussed, but I could only get through the first ten pages of the thread before giving up and just re-asking the question now. What are they?

BuddyBigsby 01-28-2005 02:11 AM

haha, you and stagefrightken would get along.

Pudding? Wait... no...

Anyways, is The Fall Of Troy considered as emo? They are like ATDI but a little different, I think are just indie prog stuff, but some parts sounds very emo-ish to me.

I'd just call them progressive indie or something. Then again they do kind of sound like Hot Cross...

cbmartinez 01-28-2005 10:33 AM

The Fall Of Troy aren't emo.
Why aren't you seeing them?
It was in Philly. My parents wouldn't let me go. I cried, punched, moped, etc. but nope.

SalomeHigher 01-28-2005 10:36 AM

Coheed and Cambria < every other band, with the exception of good charlotte.

cbmartinez 01-28-2005 10:47 AM

What the fuck?

A) We weren't even talking about Coheed
B) They are not emo

Your entitled to your opinion but how about posting it in a Coheed thread, not making an irrelevant post in a thread that doesn't have anything to do with Coheed.

He changed his name because SFK could be interpreted as standing for "Sensitive Fat Kid."
Coheed and Cambria < every other band, with the exception of good charlotte.
Wtf? That was random...

Plus there are many worse bands than Co&Ca. Simple Plan for instance. The only bad thing I see with Coheed is the vocals, if they screamed you would love them. They are pretty good musically. But they aren't emo so why am I ranting about them... They are progressive rock/punk.

Ok thanks for clearing up that bit about The Fall Of Troy.

Btw, Hot Cross is amazing, haha.

bendurarmstolooklikewings 01-28-2005 05:48 PM

dfelon, if you have soulseek(which im almost completley sure you do) what is your user name, because i want to downlaod from you. mine is kissedbyabrick.

bendurarmstolooklikewings 01-28-2005 06:11 PM

cbmartinez 01-28-2005 06:13 PM

Sirens is a tight album.

(/already told you that on AIM)

I do now understand why Torn like's Jerome's Dream's singer, though. It's just a higher pitched version of Reach Out's. (At least I think)

cbmartinez 01-28-2005 06:59 PM

Jerome's Dream are hilarious. It's just like random shouting/yelling over some sick riffs.

bendurarmstolooklikewings 01-28-2005 09:45 PM

ok, thanks. my screename is allxonxblack842(it's REALLY OLD, so please don't make fun of it)

Gah I have been searching many band sites and venue sites and no screamo/emo bands play anyehere near here! The closest notable town I guess is Knoxville. After that probably Columbus or Cincinnati in Ohio. All three towns have no bands playing and are at least an hours drive. This sucks.

hey, you're not cory! 01-28-2005 11:35 PM
Coheed and Cambria < every other band, with the exception of good charlotte.
i hate you

Wow 01-29-2005 12:31 AM

I live in Columbus and it sucks. Hardly any good bands play here.

Special Brew 01-29-2005 01:39 AM

Around here there isn't even a music scene. I know all three bands that play shows around here and they all play like 70s-80s style rock stuff.

Probably because the last band to play in Columbus got SHOT. FUCK!

Sep 01-29-2005 01:45 AM

I live in Oman and Ronan Keating played here a few years ago. Last year The Rasmus also played in Dubai, which is about a 4 hour drive.

Stop complaining everyone.

Saetia's drummer.

Okay, everyone stop complaining about their so-called 'non-existant' scene. Every town has a scene, you just have to know where to look.

Jerome's Dream are AWESOME.

Can you recommend any good Dutch emo/screamo bands?
The only ones I know of are: Jetsetready, Believeisadoubt and The Spirit That Guides Us.

tornpictures 01-29-2005 04:30 AM

Shikari, The Barnhouse Effect, Los Asesinos de la Superficialidad, Tempers Rise, that's about it.

Jetsetready suuuuuck.

Ok I'll stop complaining, but serioussly though, there is no scene here. Trust me I have looked everywhere. Well, actually, there a is a music scene for bluegrass, but that is it. We don't even have bars around here, and only 1 resturant that hosts bands. Occasionally a fair or something will search for bands to play and my guitar teachers band plays at all of those. Bleh, lol, at least I don't live in Oman!

My town is a town of 1200, but I go out of town to shows. Usually 40-90 miles away.

A Day In Black And White is going to be here in March, I just found out... And The Spirit Of Versailles reunion show is still on in May.
