Definitely lots of Brand New's first album,Queen, and a lot of Bright Eyes stuff (Conner Oberst is an amazing writer)

br3ad_man 09-06-2004 05:38 AM

I'm obessed with Sigur Ros' "()". I haven't heard an album is beautiful since....never.

Happymeal 09-06-2004 06:08 AM

I'm new to Sigur Ros. Is Staralfur on ( )? If it is I'm gonna buy it sometime. It's cheap here too!

I'm prog tripping right now. Rush's Vapor Trails and LTE's 2 are so addicting. If I can only find Australasia somewhere here..

Tapeworm 09-06-2004 06:16 AM

Wow. I just got Missy Higgins' "The Sound of White". Wow!

Tapeworm 09-06-2004 08:30 AM

I also reviewed Ryan Adams' "Love is Hell" last night, check it the heck out!

Happymeal 09-06-2004 08:54 AM

I'll give Missy Higgins a listen since I'm kinda in a slump right now.. Nothing I listen to right now turns me on.. Hope she's as good as you say it is.:) Anyone here know The Kings Of Convenience?? My friend got me curious..

Tapeworm 09-06-2004 08:59 AM

Rad. The Kings Of Convenience are awesome. :thumb:

(not as good as Missy).

SalomeHigher 09-06-2004 01:42 PM

i've been digging the melvins lately.

Happymeal 09-06-2004 06:27 PM

I knew you'd say that Tapeworm.:p I'll check out both if I have the time, school's starting tomorrow!!!

I just downloaded the whole The Fall Of Troy self titled album, and holy crap it's so good. Anyone who likes At The Drive-In made more technical and 10x louder(okay, maybe not that loud) should listen to them.

br3ad_man 09-06-2004 06:40 PM

^^^
All of the tracks on () are untitled...but it's so good.
i've been digging the melvins lately.
Good work. :thumb:

biografiend 09-06-2004 09:25 PM

both sigur ros albums cost $21 apiece here, and i want them so bad, but i dont have the money. i do have them downloaded, though, and they both are amazing.

sink sink 09-06-2004 09:33 PM

I've been listening to Elliott Smith, and I wonder why I didn't get into him sooner.

And I've been listening to Can.

Zappa 09-06-2004 09:42 PM

You're cool, sink sink.

i know what you mean, the album cover and art is awesome, it looks so simple, yet awesome.

they are £16 a piece here, and i can't afford it.

It's always the same bands. You said you listening to different music... try actually listening to some!! Changing which Metallica album you like is not expanding your horizons.

Happymeal 09-07-2004 01:31 PM

Moonshine by Feeder got me hooked again!! I'm listening to Bush again too.

yes. the only reason i want the album is so i can see the art. if it didnt look so damn amazing then i would just stick to my cd i downloaded from the interweb.

libertine2020 09-08-2004 03:06 PM

The new s/t Libertines album, which at first I didn't like but it sort of grew on me. The Futureheads' debut album is also excellent, every track is good. I also like a few random emo songs by bands like Finch and The Used, but not enough to buy an album. The demo version of Greener With The Scenery by The Used is pretty awesome.

shane italian 09-08-2004 05:35 PM

If you haven't gotten to them yet, definitely Of Montreal. One of the most consistant bands in the collective in my opinion. Also, Summer Hymns; check out "Something's Going On" and a few other selected tracks on their site here.

A lot of neo-psychedelic bands are pretty hit-and-miss for me, even some of the E6 stuff. dios, now dios malo thanks to Ronnie James Dio, does real good psychedelic-folk-pop I guess it might be called. I try to recommend them as much as possible :). The stuff I've heard by From Bubblegum To Sky has been pretty good, I'd recommend checking out "Operation Big Beat", which I swear I've heard in a commercial recently.

My top five bands at the moment, according to Winamp:

OutKast
The Zombies
Bauhaus
Neutral Milk Hotel
Yo La Tengo

Hot Snakes are a great band. Cool name too.

I'm listening to My Bloody Valentine, but I'm going to start myself on a Muse kick...I've only got 3 days until their gig.

Happymeal 09-09-2004 05:27 AM

I'm really loving HORSE the band right now(a bit out of place here though). Super-hilarious and super-cool.

I can't find Origin Of Symmetry anywhere here. I still think it's better than Absolution..

I'm gonna try and find more Pinback songs too.

live_by_rock 09-09-2004 07:13 AM

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out,
Matinee,

I'm in a great mood tonight :p

Luxor 09-09-2004 07:52 PM

I'm going to see Jack Johnson tomorrow night, just thought I'd ask to see if anyones heard of him. I think he's alright, I'm only going because my girlfriend likes him, and I'm a tool....

Well_Respected_Man 09-09-2004 07:54 PM

Jack Johnson is actually pretty fun. My brother is a huge fan of his, I've heard some of his songs that were rather catchy.

Tangy zizzle 09-09-2004 08:26 PM

All of Jack Johnson's songs are catchy. That's all he can write. Redundant camp-fire songs are his specialty.
