This is what I hate about a lot fans of some bands on this forum. Just because a vast majority of people hate a band, it because its a trend to cool to hate them. So there isn't a such thing as agreeing with people? It annoys me to no need when I don't like Rancid or Sex Pistols or Casualties and it's deemed as 'trendy' when I really can't stand their music.

I just don't like them. The music is bad, the vocals are bad, the lyrics are bad, their history is bad. They just don't appeal to me.

Yeah, the lyrics are pretty terrible, but I like the guitar playing. Catchy stuff.

[I]everyone[/I] starts getting into punk with the pistols, you can't shrug them off that easily. I still like 'em, not religiously, they're tolerable I think. If a pistols song comes on my playlist I'll listen to it through.

That is a sweeping untrue generalization. I didn't try listening to the Pistols until after I was into punk, and plenty of other people are the same way.

I've barely heard any sex pistols. They definitely didn't get me into punk.

i guess I was wrong. But most people I know got into punk via the Clash, the Ramones and the Pistols (especially younger kids). Obviously the Pistols are the worst of the three but they always seem to leave some kind of inprint on people.

The Ramones and The Sex Pistols were some of the first punk bands I listened to. I think 3rd and 4th, respectively.

I got into punk and ska mostly though local bands. I had of course heard The Ramones and Dead Kennedys beforehand (because my parents listen to those bands), but I wouldn't really say they are what got me into it. Sex pistols don't factor into it at all. The Clash does a bit, I guess, just because I liked playing london calling on bass.

I listened to the sex pistols last year and I've been into punk for about 6 years. Same for The Clash and The Ramones...I've never liked them and listened only to Blitzkrieg Bop until last year too.
