I was a big fan of them in high school, and I don't particularly dislike them now. New album might be interesting. :)
well all i know, is that SOAD is my favorite band ever.... for anyone who doesnt have any of their albums i recomen their first and Toxicity... that was their best, and theyre new album is kind of a different SOAD. not the classic SOAD they used to b, but still pretty kool

Rothmans 06-17-2005 03:43 PM

I have a hunch that hypnotize is gonna be well better wasnt a great fan of mezmerize but still good but there next album...

DuncMaster 06-17-2005 04:43 PM
You saw them live? :jealous: I'd love to see SOAD in action, as they're such a crazy band...really high energy whenever I see them, even if they're just doing an interview. I think Mesmerize is their best album to date, personally (I really got into them with Toxicity) and I can't wait to see what their other album this year sounds like.
I saw them Wednesday, yup they ****in rock live.

They are pretty much at the top of my list right now, cause i have seen most of the bands i like more than them. I feel like their show has so much energy and that it would just be great. I dont think they are coming to Cleveland on their upcoming tour with TMV though. :upset:

Yes it is, it is about a celebrity basketball game that Daron was involved with I think. It probably has a deeper meaning though which I am not aware of.

clearvision 06-27-2005 03:36 PM

I think old school hollywood is pants, joint worst on the album with this cocaine...

I briefly thought I was experiencing deja vu
I briefly thought I was experiencing deja vu
When I think about it I have never experienced deja vu on the internet :amaze:

Kyle 06-27-2005 04:22 PM

yeah, I can't recall any time where I have either.....how odd?

Does Deja Vu not extend to the internet?

AIC/EAZY-E 06-27-2005 11:40 PM

I really think 'Lost in Hollywood' was a dodgy choice for a second single. I wonder what people who are casual radio fans will think of Daron's lead vocals. It's the mellowest song they would've ever done I'm pretty sure (no distortion what-so-ever). It's just so different to the rest. But I really dig the bit when Daron says ''Phony people come to play''. Him and Serj's harmonies go so well. Maybe not on a Staley/Cantrell standard, but it's getting there.

Dude3 06-27-2005 11:48 PM

I think I'm pretty much alone on this, but I absolutely hated Mezmerize. I just thought it was very bland and generic. Nothing stood out about it to me. I wasn't really suspecting the technicality of it to be out of this world, or anything. I love their previous releases. I thought this record was just sooooooo boring. I want to sell it, but I can't find anybody who wants it.

luftvier 06-27-2005 11:57 PM

Some black metal fans have noticed what seems like a tribute to Emperor in the bridge of Revenga - a riff very similar to that from I Am the Black Wizards off of Nightside...yes? No? Who knows? My favorite System is still from their Bugzapper demo tape. I loved that tape.

What songs does it have on it? I've never heard of it.

PepsiMetal 06-28-2005 12:07 AM

I didn't like lost in hollywood much. That "Tony Danzda cuts in line" is pretty whiny and cheesy. Old school hollywood is better although songs are totally different so comparison is stupid. Anyone else think radio/video bits of greeky guitar type sound similar? I could swear I heard it already. Might be my crazy imagination though.

AIC/EAZY-E 06-28-2005 12:10 AM

It's officially happened. Everyone at my school loves BYOB. Discovering it months after its release. Just hearing them say ''You heard that new Systems of the down song everybody goin to the party have a real good time? SOOOO COOL!'' makes me jeer. But at least they like it. That chorus ALWAYS gets me going.

I hate hoe people catch on to songs, MONTHS after they've been out. It seems that I always notice the new trend, before everybody else.

You've got "Old School Hollywood" and "Lost in Hollywood" mixed up. The first one is the one about Tony Danza cutting in line, and the other one is the album's last track that's very mellow and ballad-like.

Also, anyone who thinks SOAD is just getting popular now must not remember the Chop Suey! phase of their career very well
