Speaking as a fan of Gothic music, it really doesn't have anything in common with doom metal aside from the fact that it's people playing electric guitars, bass guitars, drumsets, and sometimes keyboards and they usually have singers.

That's about it. It's not a subgenre or an off-shoot.

Yes, but Paradise Lost's middle-era stuff was like... goth/doom.

<-also a fan of gothic music.

So my friend just gave me Epicus Doomicus Metallicus and I think I made a mistake by saying that Ancient Dreams was their best effort, I think this album is perfect.

NP: Candlemass - Black Stone Wielder

Last time I checked the threadstarter determined what the topic is. :confused:

It switches for me between that and Nightfall. Both are great.

their older stuff, yes. but not now
scary stuff... :rolleyes:
sounds interesting... can you upload some of the scary stuff for the daily upload?
Scary stuff is the only thing I can really think of... seeing how it's pretty trippy (or 'scary') to listen to in the dark, or just when you get into the music and stuff.

I keep asking what to do to upload something to the Daily Upload, but I never go back to see the answer :/ Maybe you can tell me who to send the links to in here, because I'm going to be checking this thing a bit, so I can check out new bands and stuff.
Four pages of Doom discussion, and no mention of Paradise Lost.....
I like Paradise Lost alot, but I haven't listened to them in a looong time.
i <3 Corrupted.

I'm still searching for other CDs by them
I have some stuff on Soulseek that you might not have. I should be on there tomorrow sometime.
how's Dot [.] ?
I like Dot [.] quite a bit. Some of their stuff doesn't have a lot of structure, but it's still really good stuff in my opinion.

Ummm 04-10-2006 10:24 PM

These Bands Are pretty Incredible ,Underground Meanwhile

1.Dolorian{Finland}

2.Skepticism{Finland}

3.Evoken{U.S.A}

halfdeadhippo 04-11-2006 04:46 AM

^I really like Skepticism. Stormcrowfleet is a classic for me.

Also, I just discovered Khanate via Tyler's slsk. This is the creepiest music I've ever heard. It makes me think of a deformed hill person sitting in a cave somewhere in Kentucky (nothing against Kentucky, just there's a lot of caves there) and peeling skin off the bones of his/her human prey, talking to him/herself.

repcak 04-11-2006 05:01 AM

@Magicaltroll: you have to upload the file on yousendit.com, megaupload or something like that and send the link to metaloz. thats all.

The Sandman 04-11-2006 05:42 AM

If anyone would be so kind as to send me any doom metal I'll have your babies.

Werny 04-11-2006 06:54 AM

I've just started downloading some Skepticism. The small bits I've heard sound excrutiatingly amazing! They have a weird groove to them, it's lovely.

Khanate basically owns me.

I listen to it almost every night before I go to bed. I love that stuff so much. But it's hard to listen to alot though, since it's not really for the "music" in my opinion, I think they focus way more on atmosphere.

...Which isn't bad at all for me :D

I checked out Candlemass' Epicus whatever CD. And I'm not really impressed :/ But I'm loving the Electric Wizard I got last night. I think it's the voice that kills Candlemass for me.

It's nothing that bad, but I don't like it much :/

@repcak - What's metaloz's e-mail address?

@sandman - I'll send you some stuff, or if you have soulseek, just add me to your list. If you don't, I'll send you the Khanate, Heavy Lord, and Neurosis (not really doom, but still amazing stuff) that I'm uploading to the daily upload thing.

Txus 04-11-2006 09:39 AM

I'm opossite to you in that Magicaltroll I don't like Electric Wizard that much in fact I don't like them at all but I love Candlemass I think Messiah Marcolin has one of the best voices I've ever heard...the problem is that the album you heard Epicus Doomicus Metallicus has another dude in the vox...you should give Nightfall or Ancient Dreams a try.

Thanks for that. I never understood why I didn't like Candlemass's vocals when everybody else raved about them until now.

repcak 04-11-2006 10:50 AM

anyone have heard of Lacrimas Profundere?

Txus 04-11-2006 10:56 AM
anyone have heard of Lacrimas Profundere?
Yeah, thanks to ATC he sent me their album "Burning A Wish" and it's really good even though I don't liek Goth Music that much this guys are great. I need some more of their stuff...:(

repcak 04-11-2006 11:00 AM

yeah, its a great album... i just listen to them.

do you got Novembre too? a great band! on metalstorm they say that Lacrimas Profundere is gothic doom metal and novembre is (i'm not sure) doom-death metal.

both great bands and Lacrimas Profundere - Burning: A Wish and Novembre - Dreams D'Azur are the only two bands that caught my attention recently. i started to love them as much as i love Anathema and/or NIN.

Txus 04-11-2006 11:06 AM

Yeah Novembre are amazing, I compare them with Opeth a lot. Drams D'Azur is a grea album I think the song "Swim Seagul In The Sky" is a gem I love it, well the whole album is perfect for me. I plan on getting their album Novembrine Waltz sometime soon.

repcak 04-11-2006 11:10 AM

yeah, this song is a gem! every song on this album is a gem for me. there is no bad song on it... its the same with Lacrimas Profundere. i can't stop listen to this two albums in the last few days.

Txus 04-11-2006 11:17 AM

You should check out Dark Suns if you like Novembre that much, they aren't THAT alike but I think you may enjoy them.

repcak 04-11-2006 11:23 AM

Dark Sun? is this an album by Novembre or is it a band?

NP: Swim Seagul In The Sky

edit:
the only thing i cannot understand how humans can make such a powerful music. i am stunned sometimes when i listen to Anathema, and now Novembre and Lacrimas Profundere.
It is one thing to write music like CoB, Slayer and so, who are difficult to play, but its another thing to write music who touch you emotionally and is so powerful.

Txus 04-11-2006 11:25 AM

It's a band.

NP: Novembre - Nottetempo

repcak 04-11-2006 11:31 AM

on metalstorm they say they are progressive death metal... but i will check them out.

Txus 04-11-2006 11:42 AM

Make sure to check out their album Existence, it's really good, I mus admit that you need to give them a few listens to understand its potential and beauty but it is certainly worth it.

repcak 04-11-2006 11:44 AM

ok, thank you. i will
