Out of here, cya guys.

Aural exam tommorow.

airborne50caliber 06-15-2005 08:49 AM

How do tubes attribute the classic warmth to your audio signal? What actually happens inside them?

moaner 06-15-2005 10:08 AM

they're physical, not solid. because the electrons have tophysically jump through the vacuum, i think.

Also, they don't clip properly- instead of squaring of the wave, they simply squash the curve a little.

airborne50caliber 06-15-2005 11:14 AM

cool :thumb: makes sense

denboy 06-16-2005 02:19 PM

Good stuff mate :thumb:.

I'm going to Billy Hydes today with the guys from one of my bands to look for some music for some covers... I'll look for some jazz books or something, and have a quick longing strum on that Cole Clark Fat Lady that I love so dearly.

What's everyone else getting up to?

allthegoodnamesweregone 06-17-2005 04:38 PM

that is genuinally battered...cool though... but do you need another porta studio?

Aes820 06-18-2005 01:57 AM

I actually got together with a bit of one of my bands this morning. First time in months. We had a jam for a couple of horus, with a new drummer. It went all right.
I spent the rest of the day fixing stuff arond the house.

moaner 06-18-2005 03:16 AM

I love fixing* stuff!

*Finding things that're broken, opening them up, learning about how they work and throwing the away

Aes820 06-18-2005 03:50 AM

I bought a Still Remains album as well.
Of Love and Lunacy it is called. I noticed it is released under Roadrunner Records, which should've given me a clear indication as to what it would be like.
Especially when compared to some other bands who are also distrubuted under Roadrunner Records. Hatebreed, Slipknot, Machinehead, Muderdolls, etc.
And yes. As confirmed. The album is over-compressed over-produced Mallcore.

But, that's not saying it is bad.
I'd just prefer it it sounded a little more dynamic. Not just one layer of mush with growling over the top.
Still a decent album tho. A couple of good songs on it.
Finding things that're broken, opening them up, learning about how they work and throwing the away
that would be the general idea, yeah.

moaner 06-18-2005 09:32 AM

/me reads my 1955 book about electronics

Ah, valves are very intresting. I'm learning about power supplies.

you need a transformer, a rectifier, and then loads of filter parts using capacitors. its moderately intresting.

moaner 06-18-2005 09:33 AM

http://www.twelvemileroad.com/12W_valve_amp.html

airborne50caliber 06-18-2005 09:41 AM

So the valves are those pretty round-corner recotangles heh? I can't see any connectors...

moaner 06-18-2005 10:19 AM

having priced it up, that might cost £100+ to build.
