You sir, are a great nerd. :thumb:

I think Geezers solo stuff went under the name ''G//Z//R'', something like that.

rippa32 11-26-2004 05:37 PM

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the "true" black sabbath is the Tony, Ozzy, Geezer, Bill lineup and that all other albums should have been Iommi solo or under another name.

unclebobscircus 11-26-2004 05:54 PM
Is it just me or does anyone else think that the "true" black sabbath is the Tony, Ozzy, Geezer, Bill lineup and that all other albums should have been Iommi solo or under another name.
Completely. Well, as long as Ozzy and Tony are there, it sounds like Sabbath. Great as they are, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler are replaceable.

Brew 11-26-2004 05:57 PM

Eh, just aslong as Tony is there its Black Sabbath, he owns all the rights to the name etc...

unclebobscircus 11-26-2004 06:01 PM
Eh, just aslong as Tony is there its Black Sabbath, he owns all the rights to the name etc...
I don't mean in a technical sense, I mean by the band's sound.

Brew 11-26-2004 06:04 PM
I don't mean in a technical sense, I mean by the band's sound.
To me it all sounds like Black Sabbath, whenever I hear anything by them I always know its them mainly due to Tony's playing style.

ToRidTheDisease 11-26-2004 06:05 PM

I still think of Ozzy when I hear Black Sabbath.

luvcifer 11-26-2004 06:56 PM

my favorite song of all time by ozzy osborne is crazy train

it has such a great guitar riff and things of that sort

rippa32 11-27-2004 04:30 AM

Yeah its just when I hear the name "Black Sabbath" i immediatly think of the original lineup. And unclebobscircus i disagree with the dispsable thing. Although I do think Cozy Powell is a better drummer than Bill.

shadow_stalker 11-27-2004 05:48 AM

ozzy is always the person that comes to my mind when i think sabbath, but after him its iommi, then geezer and bill at the same time

really tony isnt really anything special now, back when they were fairly new it was like "bloody hell listen to that guiatr" and so on, but so many people have copied his playing style that it isnt reall that great (but you can still tell if it's an iommi riff), there need to be more origional guitar players rahter than ones who just want to be like their favourite guitarist, same goes for drumming, bass and vocal

Thats because Cozy was one of the best drummers in the world :thumb:

Its a good song, gets a bit boring after hearing it many times though....kinda like the Paranoid album ;)

Also, can anyone explain to me why some people think that Black Sabbath did Crazy Train?

ATTN: Josh

I've found what I want for x-mas.

Its the Misfits box-set thats a coffin shape.

In it you get : Collection I, Collection II (I already have that on vinyl), Evil Live and Legacy of Brutality

You also get Static Age (which I already have) and about 100 rare demos and studio outtakes from about 1977 to when Danzig left the band, plus a full colour booklet with complete lyrics and a list of their rare vinyl.

It only costs £35 :D

I think not completely replacable. Geezer is for me a god of bass playing, and Bill... well, he's not as good as Cozy Powell (whom I adore, after hearing TYR), but still he sounds great with other 'original lineup' guys. Is it my mind or BS sounded soooo much different and well.. was played on higher notes after ozzy and dio eras?

shadow_stalker 11-27-2004 11:32 AM

tony proved that all members are replaceable when he fired ozzy then geezer and bill left, even tony is replacable

kredkeee! 11-27-2004 11:54 AM

Maybe. But I think Sabbath without Tony would be completely different. They might be popular but they would never be the same

shadow_stalker 11-27-2004 12:01 PM

they were never the same without ozzy, bill and geezer but it kept going

Let me put it this way, I am a huge metal head, and the Misfits are one of my favorite bands, i've yet to hear an unlistenable song by them.

shadow_stalker 11-27-2004 01:42 PM

im guessing that they are not metal then
im guessing that they are not metal then
They are punk, but you can see some thrash in them too in some songs.

shadow_stalker 11-27-2004 02:03 PM

cool i might have to check them out
