Why should the Blink 182 thread be closed? There's nothing wrong with it.
Why should the Blink 182 thread be closed? There's nothing wrong with it.

Kif 06-14-2005 08:45 AM

There is nothing wrong with the Blink-182 thread. The fact is that Blink-182 aren't doing anything interesting at the moment. They aren't touring, they aren't recording, they aren't advertising. This means that it's just being spammed by worthless arguments like "Who is the better drummer; Tré from Green Day or Travis from Blink-182?".

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I don't want those illterate retards in the Discussion thread. But still, it's a band thread, so maybe they should just stop using the thread until they have some new Blink news to talk about

MattSharpIsCool 06-14-2005 12:29 PM

I dont know. A lot of the posters in that thread, only post in that thread and nowhere else. So I kind of see it as sort of a discussion thread for them. That way, they stay out of the normal open thread, and it gives that thread a reason to stay open. The spam in there isnt horrible...the green day thread is nothing but a pure spam thread anymore, and theres no talk of closing that. So eh, I think it should stay open.

Dead Star 06-14-2005 01:12 PM

I would have to argue that quite a lot of the Green Day thread isnt spam, and it isnt constant, like the Blink 182 thread.

Kif 06-14-2005 01:17 PM

In the end, Green Day are still around promoting and touring and there is a lot to talk about that band. You don't see old threads about bands like Taking Back Sunday or Rancid getting bumped everyday purely for spam, do you? No, because those bands aren't doing anything at the moment

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 06-14-2005 01:34 PM

I know what Kif means, but to be honest i'd prefer it if the people who post in the Blink182 thread stayed in the Blink182 thread. Unless by closing it they would leave, i'm all for that

jcxstargazer 06-14-2005 01:35 PM

In a way, I'd like to see the randomness stopped, but then again i'd rather have it in those threads than people making more threads to say it. There may be spamming, but if you dont want to see it, then dont open the thread - its simple

Kif 06-14-2005 01:40 PM
I know what Kif means, but to be honest i'd prefer it if the people who post in the Blink182 thread stayed in the Blink182 thread. Unless by closing it they would leave, i'm all for that
To be fair, this isn't the only place they can talk about this band. The official websites has a "forum" kinda thing, and there are plenty of fansites where they can talk to other huge fans of the band

But unless we get some kind of topic going on, they are just going to keep spamming the thread. Without a topic, post quality decreses more and more, and that's not good

MattSharpIsCool 06-14-2005 01:42 PM

I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, but I look at the last couple pages of the green day thread and all I see is talk about wallpapers for a computer. And there is a lot of talk about blink in their thread, you act like all the thread is is spam.

There is a "green day community" is there not? billiejoe84, Oz Rembrant, poprocksandcoke, Mike Dirnt 310, Untitled...I'm sure I'm missing some. That little group hangs out in the green day thread and talks about their day and concerts they've been to and stuff like that. That is spam, but I dont see anything wrong with it.

All I'm saying is that people will continue wanting to talk about blink, and if you close the thread, we're just gonna have 20 threads on the first two pages about "omgz blink iz brakd upp?!?!?" or "u r such pozrs 4 likng blink"

Oz Rembrandt 06-14-2005 02:07 PM

Yeah, over at the Green Day forum, we get off topic sometimes, but its not harming anyone, and it usually comes back round to the band eventually. I can't comment on the Blink thread, I don't go in there.

PDWAB 06-15-2005 01:58 AM

I'm going to leave the Blink thread open. Just cuz a band isn't doing anything doesn't mean you can't talk about them. Closing the thread would bug a lot of people and right now leaving it open doesn't seem to be really bugging anybody.
I would have to argue that quite a lot of the Green Day thread isnt spam, and it isnt constant, like the Blink 182 thread.
I think you have no clue what youre talking about. There almost always blink talk in that thread, the green day thread is more or less a seperate discussion thread for like, 5 people, where every so often green day pops up. And you cant say "their not around, the threads pointless." Go tell that to everyone in the pink floyd thread. Good call, joel, keep it open.

Also, KIF: Theres really only 2 illiterate retards in the blink thread, one of them is ban'd.

Oh yeah....

I would just close both the Blink and Greenday threads and start fresh ones. Both of those threads are nothing but pointless spam at this point and most of the things being discussed are just repeat discussions of things that have been addressed several pages back. It's a waste of space.

Why? It's a thread asking your opinion on a band that is closest to pop-punk, I don't see a problem with it?

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 06-16-2005 10:30 AM

GC aren't even close to pop-punk. They are a pop band who try to promote a tough guy image and have no place in this forum. It's already become spam

Ganondorf 06-16-2005 10:31 AM

It's because they're a succesful band, and as we all know

success = teh poseur!1!!

don't f'ucking start you loser. This thread is serious, don't start filling it with your absolute crap

Kif 06-16-2005 10:32 AM

Who's fault is that? The threadstarters? No, it's everyone else thinking that a new guy posting a thread about Good Charlotte is grounds for both flaming and hijacking a thread. In the end, it's a thread about a band which are more closer to pop-punk than metal, alt and indie, punk and jazz.

Ganondorf 06-16-2005 10:34 AM

 Someone's had a bad day.

Anyway, most of us know GC isn't pop-punk, but it's pretty close to it.

It's power-pop kind of, and PDWAB said in the rules thread that that genre is to be discussed here......so why don't you stop filling this thread with your elitist crap?

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 06-16-2005 10:35 AM

Trust me, look at what this guy has done.

1) he has made repeated bad thread

2) he has put threads into the wrong forums e.g. GC in pop-punk and Sum 41 in punk

3) Their posts are unintelligent, show no thought and don't use grammar.

4) they've posted nonsence in threads where they don't understand what's going on

You are one of the reasons why this forum has arguments. any suggestion of someone disagreeing with you comes back as 'elitism' or 'blink182 r teh secks'.

They are not pop-rock or pop-punk therefore have no place in the forum. You would not have bothered with this if your could just get your head out from Kif's a'ss.

Now let it go

Ganondorf 06-16-2005 10:35 AM

GC belongs here, retard.

That still doesn't give people the right to piss all over his threads though. It's a thread about a pop-punk band (That's right I said it), get your head out of your arse and stop being suck a prick about it

I'm not in the mood for your "Fuck your opinion" shit

Ganondorf 06-16-2005 10:37 AM
Power Pop: This gets a little fuzzy, but most people in general think of power pop as bands like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, bands that have taken the pop influence even further even in pop-punk.

Recommended Bands: Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Busted
I rest my case.
